  1. Becuase we're lacking in that postion and we have good cover for left back in Mills. I'm not suggesting this as a long term thing just as a short term fix until we get some proper midfielders in. Harding is a better player than Wotton. It's not like we haven't done it already this season with other players in different postions. At some stage some manager had to take a risk that Chris Sutton might make a decent foward instead of a defender (the same with Kevin Philips).
  2. I guess thats a no then. Still LOL that people reckon players can't play more than one postion when we've played four out of postion this year Papa - striker - right midfield Lallana - midfield - left wing Thomas - centeral defence - right back James - midfield - right back
  3. Harding has been excellent this season IMO he also cost a lot less than the other three.
  4. As I said goal keepers are a different case but outfield players should be able to play more than one postion if they have to. We've already played Thomas and James out of postion so I don't think it's as much of a problem as you think. It's not ideal but our midfield with James and Hammond out is weak. Many don't rate Wotton (although to be fair I don't think he's as bad as some say) so we're left with few options until we sign some one to fill the gap. Players do change postion during their carrers to, Chris Sutton and Kevin phillips come to mind.
  5. Hey just putting the idea out there I find the idea that professional footballers can't play more than one postion rather amusing (with the exception of goal keepers). Lloyd James has spent half the season playing right back (not very well but still) and he's a CM. Thomas has played RB and he's CD. So Harding playing in midfield doesn't seem such a great leap to me. Dan has been one of our best players these season and I rate him. As some one pointed out he could play a good left wing role (better than Holmes?)
  6. As we seem to be a bit short in midfield at the moment does anyone else think Harding could do a job in midfield as cover. Mills has played well at left back in the last couple of games so I wonder if Harding could play Wotton's role in midfield. Dans got resonable pace, a decent tackle and a more skill than Wotton, as a fall back option I think he'd make a decent defensive mid-fielder along side Morgan. Thoughts?
  7. Lallana is a midfielder. I reckon Spiderman, Lallana and Wotton would do ok Papa and Holmes on the wings (of course it means playing 4-5-1).Morgans a lot more combatitive this season too (well he has more yellow and red cards than anyone else so he must be putting himself about more than last year).
  8. I agree with you I think we've bought enough for now. The wierd thing is I never thought I'd here saints fans complaining that we are buying to many players things really have changed at our club:rolleyes:
  9. Why? they Knew the score when they signed up that promotion was unlikely this yearand we don't have to sell. It's time clubs got tough with players with and their contracts I reckon. If we had a Kenwyne Jones moment now I'd like think our new owners would say "play or see out your contract in the reserves for the next two years" we can afford to do that now.
  10. I know but the other teams wouldn't be top either which was GS point, you're either top or your not with -10 these other teams would not be. My point still holds no other of these big top spending sides has had as much **** to deal with this season as us. Some have had some of those problems but none have had all of them. The season was a bust from the start as far the league went. Why so many thought we would blast through the -10 and into a play off place this year considering the summer is beyond me. If we're in this postion next year I'd be upset but people expected to much from this season IMO.
  11. How many of those expensive squads would still be top with a -10 penalty? How many of those top sides where in admin in the summer. How many of those top side have had a manager whose been in the job less than seven months? How many of these top sides had to deal with all three of those things and suffered relegation last season? You can't compare us with them this season. We started from much further behind this season than all these big spending top clubs. This time next year if we are in the same postion I'd agree with you, but I think some people expect to much from a season were we have had to make up so much ground. Where would Manure be this season with a new manager, a new owner, six months out of admin and having been forced to sell Rooney to balance the books I wonder. top of the EPL i doubt it.
  12. Release them I suppose pay up their contracts and get rid, some will find new clubs although probably not Pulis:cool:.
  13. I agree with the second half of that. Calling Brentford **** makes no sense though they out played us in the second half. There' no point saying if Barnard had scored we would of won what if KD hadn't pulled all those saves off we would have lost. Brentford have held Leeds and Norwhich at home this year so they ain't ****.
  14. With the news that we might of signed another player today, do you think the club will start off loading some of the dead wood soon? Our squad is huge and there are lots of players who are either old, injury prone or just not good enough. We don't seem to be shifting much out this tranfer window ( although Saga has gone) so come the summer it must be time for AP to be brutal and get rid of the dead wood. I'd like to see a first team squad of 24 with two decent players in each postion. But which players should go? and who should stay? interested in peoples thoughts.
  15. Why? If Brentford are **** what does that make us. I love this billy big ******** attitude some of our fans have. Some really do think we only have to turn up to win:rolleyes:
  16. Lallana moving into midfield ? Puncheon on the wing. Lallana has never struck me as a winger. I assume it will be Antonio and Puncheon on the wings from now on. will this mean an end to Holmes short revival in the saints team?
  17. Yes but when we discussing money spent we're not talking wages are we we've spent around 3mil. 2.3mil of that is on Fonte and Lambert. Harding was a free Lallana was already here, so was Thomas, Hammond didn't cost much compared to Lambert. My argument still stands who says our team is better quaility than the rest of the League? Just because it cost more? the league table shows there are better teams in this League.
  18. At least four of those are internationals which would suggest they are world class to me. wasn't you that called us the Man City of league one the other week. Now you're saying we're nothing like Man City then.
  19. If we had gave it a good go and just missed out fair enough, but we have won 10 wins out of 26, that is a terrible record for a team of our quality, what should we do as a team ?? I don't know, i am not paid silly money to make those decisions. Why do you assume we have more quaility than the other teams in this league? Recent results would suggest we do not have more quaility. Some on here think that some how because we've splashed some cash (most of which has gone on two players Lambert and Fonte) we are so much better than the rest of the league. The table suggests this is not the case. The team still has plenty of players who failed badly last year, they weren't quaility last year why are they this year?
  20. Right money in itself means nothing its what you do with it. Imagine if some one spent 6m on Pulis or Forecast does this make these players suddenly become quaility? Two of the above players where frees and are both very good at this level. Lambert is our second most expensive signing but he's not going to win matches on his own just becuase he cost a million quid.
  21. But how many losses? 3 out of 25 not to shabby is it?
  22. +1 I know some had their hearts set on promtion this year but it was never going to happen and I don't really care if we're not. I've been taking my son for his first season this year and he's seen loads of good matches and plenty of goals now he's a fantical saints fan. This seasons been a good one add in a JPT final and maybe a win against the skates and the season will be a very good one IMO.
  23. We need a clear out in the summer I'd like two quaility players for every postion for a first team squad of 24. We are still carrying too many players. (I think) It's about 40 but a lot of those aren't really the players we need, or are to old or to injury prone.
  24. I still think the point stands though we've spent the bulk of the cash on two players. Most of the others where cheaper, frees or loans. You can shout look at all the money we've spent but if most of it's on two players does it mean much? Fonte is only one defender in four. Lambert isn't going to win every game by himself. If we had a whole squad of Million pound players (or 800k) DD might have a point but two players from a squad of 40 still leaves a lot of average-crap players in the team.
  25. I sort of agree I don't think we've been doing badly this season. The fact of the matter though is the -10 pts do count and so do the first ten games. On a level playing field (which this season hasn't been for Saints) we'd be right up there challanging for the play offs at least. However we started slow and we started behind everyone else. This season was never going to be easy. I think some people convinced themselves promotion was a reailty this year and now it's slipping away they're getting upset. For me this is the best season I've seen in a while, mid-table and good cup runs will be a good year for me.
