  1. I'm not in the slighest bothered about the big R. It actually makes a refreshing change not to be worrying about relegation for a change. To be honest for most of our seasons for years (bar maybe two) the only reason our season hasn't ended in March is becuase we are fighting relegation anyway.
  2. oh dear! Have you reached your mid thirties ? That was about the time I became ****ed of with everything and anything:p
  3. I hope the **** not!!
  4. Uncalled for John makes some good points and is a pretty balanced poster. How about trying to reply with a proper arguement rather than an insult and people might take your views more seriously. We played well in all those matches, but as we can't sustain it week in week out so something is clearly wrong. I have seen us play some great football this year and seen many great goals, but for every good performance we seem to churn out an equally bad one, and last night was one of the worst I've seen in some time. You don't agree so why not give me your reasons why you don't agree (with out the insults).
  5. How long has NC been in football? he could well make some mistakes. I have a feeling he like many on here assumes that price automatically equals quaility. The point is playing well in most games isn't enough. They need to be consistent, just turning it on when they feel like it is no good. Players make mistakes but the number of wayward passes, poor postioning and wrong desicions was shocking last night and unacceptable from supposedly quaility signings. The players just didn't look bothered last night. I can cope with losing if I feel the players tried but last night they where so poor. I came away from the pompey game feeling my team had done me proud. I wasn't upset by Tranmere becuase we played well enough and got screwed by the ref. Last night however we where done by a team who just wanted it more, and thats what is lacking from our team at times. Money it seems can't by you players who want to win week in week out. I don't even blame AP he put out our strongest team, when it became obivous it wasn't working he made changes. Yet the players just didn't perform. You have to wonder what the manger can do, if his expensive supposed quaility players can't even get the basics right.
  6. Just maybe they are not the good players people say they are part of being good is to play well week in and week out. These are league one players for a reason they can't do that. We have over spent on average players simple as that. Only Lambert has jusified his price this seson and even he was shocking last night. I would also suggest looking at Swindon, Colchester and Millwall that player and team spirit, blood, sweat, tears and hard work counts for a lot more than skill in this division.
  7. Well exactly I keep being told how great our new signings are but on tonights performance they are awful. They must have some talent judging by some of our recent results, but they looked average league one players to me. This being the case you have to wonder if they where really worth the money we spent on them? if you spend 1.2 mill on a player you kind of expect him to be able to pass a ball to his own side. How much did we spend on Puncheon what ever it was it seems to much for a winger who doesn't get to the by line to put in crosses, pound for pound I'm more impressed by Antonio. Still i'm going up to MK Dons on saturday so we will see if I change my mind after that performance.
  8. Right this was my first time at seeing a few of our new signings. I think what was clear to me is we spent to much on them they aren't very good. I can't remember seeing so many wayward passes, mis-kicks, poor headers and hospital passes in one game, not one player in a saints shirt looked good tonight. I don't blame AP for this he put out our strongest avaliable eleven, and they let him down. They where slow, second to every loose ball and gave it away cheaply. Puncheon was shocking, Lambert won two headers all night, Barnard run around alot, Lallana was invisible, Thomas couldn't kick straight, Morgan average, Hammond dis-interested, Fonte ok, Jahadi ok, Davis awful kicking, Harding...... AP tried to change it up with his subs but they weren't any better, If some of these players really want to play at a higher level they need to play well all the time not just when they feel in the mood.
  9. I've had a **** day at work bloody ****ed off. I'm hoping when I go tonight they hammer ****ing Swindon so I can shout/scream/sing my heart out for 90mins and feel a lot better at the end.
  10. WTF
  11. I don't we owe them for all the time wasting and antics on their cabbage patch, plus our poor showing against 10men at st Mary's. I want them down here with us so we can stuff then next season, I'd rather get shot of millwall myself.
  12. We where dead in the water after the first ten matches to many draws at home, not that I'm upset about it becuase I can see good reasons why we had a slow start . To get to the play offs now would require some teams to implode and I just can't see it happening. Personally I think next year is our season, if we can keep this team together and I see no reason why we can't. Next year St Mary's will be a fortress and we will win most of our home games, while on the road as long as we get draws (with the odd win) we will be fine. Plus no Leeds, Norwich or Millwall will make for an easier division.
  13. I'm going to this one looking forward to it.We're at home, so 4-1 to us might not be unreasonable. Digging around on the net it seems Swindon could have up to five first teamers out injured and only one fit striker. Swindon fans think they are going to play 4-5-1 as they did at Brighton to strangle midfield. That could make for a tight game. Playing a lone striker up front against our back four won't give them much joy I reckon. but flooding midfield might make it hard for us.
  14. Ref is going to do us again. This guy is supposed to be EPL level for FFS.
  15. I've got a feeling he might only get a few late game apperances to get his fitness up for the JPT where barnard isn't avalible. AP said Connolly wasn't read for 90mins yet. To be honest Barnard is doing to well to be replaced which probably means Papa will get pushed further down the que if Connolly comes back.
  16. I have to agree, the thing is it sort of ends the game as a competetive match when one team is forced to put a non-goalie in goal. Time to get in the ultimate utility player someone who can play in goal and all the out field postions equally well don't know if such a person exsits mind you.
  17. Maybe when they start using the new regulation 2ft high goals:D
  18. I picked this up from the BBC on the Derby-Reading match and thought it was quite amusing http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8563350.stm To be fair Savage made a couple of good saves. It got me thinking though who would be our emegency keeper in this situation? Of course it's rare that an out field player has to go in goal so I don't know if the players just agree on the spot or if the manager has a plan in place for this sort of thing. My first thought was to stick Lambert in goal becuase he's big and would probably take a good goal kick but then I thought Papa might be good for the comic value;) anyone know the answer though do we have someone for these situations?
  19. Well the defence kept him quite last time and that was without Seabourne or semi, so much so he went off in a sulk.
  20. Is that so they get to see some proper football once in a while?
  21. What did he do wrong to be demoted from EPL matches to league one all of a sudden? Blimey 5 red cards and 56 yellow in 26 matches:o
  22. Really wanted to go to this one but having the old dear over for (a day early) mothers day. So I'm settling for Swindon on tuesday instead which is novel as I don't go to many mid-weekers. Any way this match all depends on which Saints side turn up the Wycombe/Tranmere one or the Huddersfield/Walsall one. If its the latter I think we will win. I don't think we gave a good account of ourselves up at Ellend road so hopefully we will show Leeds how good we can be. 3-1 saints. Also might be a good time for AP to tap up Snodgrass and Kisnobro for next season;)
  23. True but it doesn't really mean much after all they couldn't beat Walsall or Huddersfield could they. I wonder how we would have faired with tonights ref I see he gave Leeds a penlty and that Tranmere commited more fouls tonight.
  24. If it was only about winning why be a saints fan? We've had a handful of succsess since 76 we're not exactly a winning team. There must be more to surpporting a football team than winning and being in the EPL other wise why are there Rochdale, Tranmere, Torquay and Luton fans? I want to see my team play football win, draw or lose at the moment I can in the EPL not so much. I don't for a minute beileve we won't get back to the EPL Markus and NC are committed and they are used to getting what they want. The thing is being in the EPL will stop me going to see the team I love becuase I just won't be able to afford it. For that and that reason alone I'm in no hurry to get back to the promised land.
