  1. I didn't even see that LOL
  2. Ok we should all go and support manure then, As GS pointed you don't pick your club it picks you. It's unfotrunate we've all been picked by one that is never going to be the best, or even the second best. All those fans of clubs outside the top four in the EPL might as well give up. Hoping/wanting your club to do its best is alot different to excpecting it to be the best.
  3. But thats not what you said you said that you won't settle for second best, that year we finished eigth not even close to second best. However there where factors that you think made it acceptable to finish that low down the league that year. This year however you can not see any factors that suggest anything other than a top two(?) finish? I suggest the difference is like a lot of fans you where happy to live with years of scrapping by and avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth becuase we where in the EPL. Now we're in league one we still can't get our heads around it, we're embarrassed to lose to teams that 10 years ago we didn't even know (or cared) exsisted. The simple fact is this team has won more games this season than any saints team in the last 26 years. You should be happy becuase this team is not the second best (or third best) but yes the best team you've supported in 26 years.
  4. And that is why I have enjoyed this season. We have a cup final to and yet its a bad season becuase people just assumed (just like Leeds did) that being a big club meant we would walk this league. They said the same thing in the coke-a-cola and look how that turned out.
  5. Glasgow I laugh every time you say that by being a saints fan you've accepted second best for years. You have to go back a long way to find a time when when we where top of the tree, even under WGS in arguably our best season for years I think we made it as high as fourth best in the country for about a week. So in effect you have settled for second best by becoming a saints fan.
  6. Looks like we've sold the first 1500 another 1000 now on sale http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~1995854,00.html
  7. Yeah lets get a couple of Dutch total football wizards to take over we could could call them coaches instead of managers, heaven forbid that an English team should play football the English way. We've played plenty of good football this season. The long ball comes into play when things don't go our way and the players resort to route one for lack of a better idea, weather they're told to do this by AP is debetable. I've seen it twice this season Brighton and Tuesday, I've seen plenty of games were the long ball was not evident at all.
  8. I don't think this is that true. I've seen Lambert a few times this season and struggle to think of many good headers people say his good with his head but often seems to lose out to defenders. I think he won maybe two all night against Swindon with ball coming in from lots of different places and angles (although mostly straight at him from deep in our half in the second half).
  9. I love the way people say shot stopper like some sort of insult. The first job of a keeper is to stop the ball going in the back of the net I've seen KD make more great saves than I care to remember as well as fair number of penalties. As far as I'm concerened he is more than good enough.
  10. So are you suggesting the managment have no plans/strategy for matches then? You can't honestly believe AP just tells them to go out and run about and if they're lucky they might score a goal or something. I'm no footballing genius so I'm not going to try and second guess an experinced football manager, but I'm pretty sure he has a game plan, in fact I reckon he works one out for every game.
  11. Why? are we going to tap up Les Perry?
  12. Were you there on tuesday? They were no where near good enough. A good player is someone who keeps it up week in week out, ours don't so prehaps they are not as good as there legaue one busting prices suggest they are. Players are allowed off days but ours are having two three off days a month which makes me wonder how good they are. We need players who don't just turn it on when they're in the mood. For me only Lambert has been consistently good this year (and even he had a nightmare on tuesday)
  13. I'm saving every penny at the moment to try and afford one for me and the nipper. This is is the first season he has gone and he loves it so I want season tickets next year. I'm hoping the prices don't go up to much on last year though. For purely selfish reasons I hope we don't get promoted this year (looking very unlikely now) to keep the price down.
  14. Not according to the Bristol fans on 606 who all seem to agree he needed to go.
  15. Apparently at Hereford the chairman took on the roll of caretaker after getting shot of the manager. Maybe NCs plan all a long;) on the touchline in his tracksuit waving P45s at under perfoming players (might work)
  16. If this is true I'd be worried about the options to replace him, Look at the EPL Laws and Dowie are to of the most recent appointments there really is very little in the way of good managers out there to pick from. I know some (many) may disagree but I think APs got us going in the right direction we're not quite there yet but at least we're going the right way.
  17. **** me Pulis (the captain) even bloody scored call up to the first team on the cards:D
  18. The reserves show the first team how to do it;) http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ReservesNews/0,,10280~1997480,00.html
  19. I really think you under estimate commitiment and motivation. Its working well for Colchester, Swindon (as shown last night), Huddersfield and Millwall all teams that are punching above their weight according to many. I'm not quite sure what you want you keep going on about plans but I feel you'd like us to play some sort (for lack of a better term) total football in a european style.
  20. Yes awful, I Know they must be better than that after some of our recent results but last night they were crap. I hadn't been since the pompey game so I was looking forward to seeing all the new boys playing this great football everyone was telling me about. I was shocked to see the crap they served up last night. The team where playing better than that before christmas. Still I'm going to MK Dons on saturday so the players have another chance to prove me wrong.
  21. Most of that assumes the players can do basic things like pass to the bloke in space not the one surrounded by blue shirts, actually pass to a guy in red and white stripes rather than a guy in blue or put in a tackle. The number of poor passes and bad descion making by players last night was shocking. I really don't think it had anything to do with tactics last night just to many players who where playing badly with little energy and little desire.
  22. So the players take no responsibilty for not doing their job? The manager played our strongest side, no one would have suggested otherwise before the match. His subs all made sense and he had the balls to take the captain of for being ****. No last night was down to to the players on the pitch they couldn't even string simple passes together, hardly tackled and made the wrong passing desicions so many times, most of them could hardly be bothered. Worse the subs weren't any better. We need more midfield options some way of changing things when Hammond or Morgan decide they can't be arsed. When you look at the bench those options aren't there.
  23. I'm going, taking my son for his first away game so we better win. Having sat through last nights dire display (my sons first every evening match) I'm execpecting a back lash against the Dons after AP has put a rocket up some arses. Not bothered about Puncheon first time I've seen him play last night and he was awful. Antonio always does well against the Dons (their left back must hate playing against him) so I'd stick him back in the side. Having beaten them three times already our players really shouldn't be worried about this one. Everyone has a boggey team (ours is Swindon apparently) I reckon we're the Dons. We need as many wins as we can before the end of the season to give us momentum for next season.
  24. Maybe. I've generally been happy with this season, I like AP, we've played much better football this year than in a long time and we've assembled a good team (well so I'm told but after last night I'm not so sure). However last night was shocking. I can take losing it's the manner of the loss that bugs me. There was just no fight, passion and very little skill on display last night and to me thats unacceptable. To lose after a battling game where the players give their all (like the pompey game) is one thing, just to give up and resort to punting it long and hoping is something else all together.
  25. He can't he has to show NC he has intent, but I think most of us now agree it's not going to happen. Just gives us a longer pre-season to weed out the chaff and get the players understanding how to play well together consistently, something they can't seem to do yet.
