Yesterday becuase we actually won, the FA cup was to painful although in truth having been hammered by the Arse only a few days before we all new we wouldn't win that FA cup really. I think the only thing about yesterday was we won so easily that it took something away, imagine if yesterday had been a repeat of the Norwich match it would have gone done in the histroy books as a great saints game. As it was we cantered to an easy win with a second string side, I was expecting carlilse to make more of a match of it. If it hadn't been for the crap of the last few years and our almost total destruction as a club yesterday wouldn't have meant as much, but right know it seems like the start of a new era and that alone makes it very special to me.

Personnel actions to ensure promotion next season
doddisalegend replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I read that think Lallanna will stay. It was however right next to an article about Lambert wanting to play at a higher level. So I figure we may need a new target man for next season. I reckon we off load Barnard if the happens and bring in both Swindons strikers who would be ready made strike force. Also if Leeds **** up this year we should try and get Kisnorbo very good defender, him and fonte at the back would be immense at this level. Midfield is the most important place though we need quaility backup (or replacement) for Morgan and Hammond, James isn't bad but Wotton and Gillet are no good. -
Fleet services there and back plenty of fan bonding in the queue for the loo:p. Feel sorry for the one Carlisle fan must have been one lonely **** surronded by a couple of hundered saints fans. To be honest by the time we found the special cheap carpark we'd been told about we only had time to go straight to the stadium and watch the match.

No it wasn't I was in block 130 and didn't hear any booing so it wasn't clear all around the ground. Now in fairness I didn't see any Mexican waves either.
-
Becuase we were there and didn't hear it, a bit like god I haven't seen any evidence so I don't believe it.

Better than Puncheon from what I've seen he just scares the crap out of defenders excellent performance today.

Saints 4-1 Carlisle - 2010 JPT Champions - Reaction
doddisalegend replied to Block 5's topic in Golden Posts
Great day. I thought Carlisle played nice neat passing football but they where compleatly toothless up front. We played some awful stuff at times but we have so many goals in us now. My heart sunk when I heard Wottons name on the team sheet and no Morgan but yet we still banged four past them. Loved seeing AP waving the saints flag and giving NC a big cuddle at the end and Marcus looked so happy. Dan Harding was immense again today MOM. good to see Antonio back too, much rather have him than Puncheon from what I've seen. A bet Carlisle can't wait to come to St Mary's and play our first team considering our second string just battered them. -
Dan Harding was brillant today(MOM)playing on the wrong side but still way to good for the carlisle winger.
-
I didn't here any boos where I was, there where a few for Mawhinney at the start but everything and everbody saints got cheered a lot today (even wotton).
-
Lol I looked at that and thought you had twevle players with a five man mid field until I looked more closely. I'm not sure I'd play a 16 year old in a match of this importance to be honest.
-
If Antonio is not avalible how about Mclaggon on the flank? he's been doing ok in the reserves is fast and has had a little first team experince from last season. As for Connolly or Wagio up front I'd go for Connolly to start up front and bring Wagio on later Papa seems to do best as a sub. Oh and no Gillet at RB Harding is a better option than Gillet IMO.

Doesn't sound like a bloke excpecting the chop does he? I really like AP always has something good to say.

Quite maybe we should just be harder on other crimes. Looking at it another way maybe all acts of violence should just carry a 15 year mandatory sentence football releated or otherwise. Clearly the current laws aren't enough to make people think kicking someones head in for supporting a different football team is a bad idea.
-
Authorites cracking down on football violence shocker:o The Police take a hardline on football violence so people can hardly be suprised. Quite frankly if you prepared to have a punch up with someone over their choice of football team you can excpect nothing less and they won't get any sympathy from me.

Thank heavens the JPT journey is over this weekend

I do remember reading some where about our scouting and how the management team work out the game plan in advance (If I remember right there's a room at Staplewood full of computers where the players are briefed). Now it's just possible that we set up based on the scouting reports with a game plan and the otherside do something else we're not excpecting leaving us playing the wrong way (such as to narrow) and struggling to change things (I have a feeling this may of been the case on tuesday hence our poor start). -

Well thats the problem, Mills was steady if unspectacular against the Dons and we kept a clean sheet. To think that we've got through two proper RBs and two makeshift RBs in one season is a real kick in the teeth must be some sort of curse on saints rightbacks this season:( -

Ummmm Perry verses pacy wingers, no I don't think so. Also Perry would give us nothing going forward. I agree with you Harding is class best bargin of the season but we really don't have a better option we have two decent left backs in Mills and Harding and no right backs what AP is doing makes sense is not ideal but really is the best we can do. Harding at right back still looks better than James at right back. With Morgan out I'd rather have James playing CM where he belongs. -

Quite so why are you surprised we didn't beat all those teams? -

Maybe becuase these teams aren't the push overs people think they are. We are not EPL anymore these teams are our level we are not as far ahead of them as people think. -

True but that was the point we changed to 4-4-2 from 4-3-1-2 AP noted he had made a mistake and changed the formation becuase it was to narrow a minute later we had a goal good work by AP I'd say. As for Harding it's not a tactical change but one made becuase we don't have a better option I didn't see Harding on tuesday but he played well enough when I saw him against the Dons a LB playing at RB is better than CM playing at RB not perfect but better. -

Yeah I do. Our goal difference suggests we are not a defensive team. We play 4-4-2 with wingers and two strikers hardly defensive. We don't go away and put 10 men behind the ball like a lot of teams in this division do. There are times when the players panic and revert to hoofing usual in the second half when we're losing. I've seen plenty of play down the wings this season Harding is very good at overlapping the winger and getting forward and semi was starting to do the same on the right before his injury. -
Looking forward to it so much. I'm a bit gutted about all the injuries though not so much a second string team as a third string team going out on sunday. It's also a shame for the likes of Thomas to miss out on the final having made an impact in the early games. I still think it's Papa's destiny to score the winner, Papa seems to like the JPT and if wasn't for his performace against Torquay and Norwich we wouldn't even be here.

Martin Samuel, Daily Mail on Coretese: "self serving" and a "buffoon"

83-84 season I think. Mid table in the late 80s then. Still most seem happy with that if we get back to the EPL espiecally those who don't except second best;) -

Early 80s possibly but I was only a wee nipper then;) I don't have strong memories apart from always wanting to be Peter Shilton when ever we played football. -

Rose tinted glasses much? I think you mean we lost all our great players (bar the legend that is Matty) and occasionally beat a top side while losing and drawing with a lot of not so great sides. The Media line that the EPL is the only football that is worth while in the world runs deep among saints fans it seems.
