Millwall losing to Brentford too. Bloody hell the skys going to fall down next.

I couldn't agree more with that bit if I tried. How often I see on here "so-so team are ****" quite often you realise the poster couldn't even find the opposition on a map let lone have any idea about their players or recent form. Then when the opposition turn out to be better than they thought and give us a game maybe even daring to win or draw people throw their toys out of the pram.

Tranmere have had 2 penalties and Norwich are down to 10 men, Tranmere really get the Ref on thier side at home don't they?
-
WtF really! that would kind of put our result into perspective wouldn't it? I love football so unpredictable:p

Got some examples, I've not been to every match but the ones I've been to I can't think of any where I thought he was playing the wrong player by choice. Wotton is a bugbear of mine but I'd rather have him than Gillet and Wotton only gets a shout if AP has no choice, James is no RB but there weren't to many other options at the time. Subs I've seen some good ones Conolly and Antonio against the Dons at home, Antonio against Ipswich spring to mind. Even in the dire home game against Swindon I could see what he was trying to do with the subs. AP isn't perfect as you say but I feel he has got more right than wrong this year.

By your logic nothing can be compared then? How do you decide if the steak you ate yesterday is better than the one you ate today? for example. Or if your first girlfriend was a better lay than your third? The simple fact is if you compare the pts per game AP has the best. Now you can look for reasons why that is and there may be many and they maybe totally valid. It is however human nature to compare things every day and make a descion about which one is best. Which is better a Porsche or a Skoda? hardly a fair comparassion but that doesn't mean you can't do it or that deciding on the Porsche is wrong.

I think this article will answer all your questions Pardew is out in steps........ http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/30/jose-mourinho-attacks-italy

Touchy. Practice what you preach? Being a dsylexic I long gave up caring what people thought about my level of english. Still the last resort of internet warriors is always to go for people's spelling and punctuation, if it makes you feel superior fil yur bots

Surely not! that would put last night into perspective if true;)

LOL I can see the big unvieling cermony at a pre-season friendly. The St Marys crowd waiting a hush decends and out of tunnel to huge fan fare comes some bloke of saints web. How many games would Derry get before Alpine has a go I wonder?:smt082

I agree Burley got us to the play offs and spent seven million doing it no-one ever complained about the money he spent though. For some reason 3mil is a big stick to beat the crap out of AP with. AP has won us silverware for the first time in 34 years ok its only the JPT but still you'd think he'd recive a little bit of gratatuide, but no four days later a draw (not a loss a draw) against an inform side away from home and APs the ****ing anti-christ:snakeman: again I just don't get it:mad:
-
True they have matured but I think AP has to be given credit for that. (Seeing as he's not allowed credit for anything else;))
-
Oh well each to their own I enjoy watching us play. For the type of football you're after might I suggest Barca they made Arsenel look like a pub team very impressive but unlikely to be seen in league one at st Mary's or anywhere else in this country.
-
Didn't see Burley win any trophies;) Actually I think AP would have got more out of the youngsters than the Dutch wizards. AP seems to get good results out of young players look how much better Morgan and Lallanna look this season to compared to last, I think Antonio is getting better under AP too.
-
So you don't think they're twice a good fine in which case Burley's spending outstripped APs on players that weren't even twice as good as we have now and he achieved less. I was being kind with twice as much to try and give some balance to the spending. So lets try this Burley spent seven million on players that were a bit better than what we have now puts APs spending in perspective then thanks.
-
yeah if you watch later he describes being manager of Bristol City as one of the biggests jobs in football:smt082
-
Which I pointed out. Assuming fizzy pop players are twice as good as league one players and cost twice as much they spent equal amounts (not taking into account inflation) but the facts show AP has achieved more with the resources avaliable to him than any other saints manager.
-
by 2 points with eight games to go hardly terrible.
-
Most of it january. If we'd spent the whole lot in August to assemble the team we have now I'd agree but seeing as most of the new signings have only been playing for us for two and half months your point doesn't hold IMO.
-
Why is it pointless? people keep banging on about money, we've spent more in prevoius seasons and done no better or more often worse than this season yes we were at a higher level but we bought better players so it all evens out. If we where in the EPL and spent say 9mil and in the same postion everyone would be singing APs praises but becuase we are in league one, gave everyone else a 10pt head start people are saying APs not doing a good enough job it makes no ****ing sense to me.
-
How does that compute with big Mac and Ted Bates then who both played in the era before the EPL destroyed English football. Also each manager has had players relevant to the level they're playing at WGS for example had far better players than AP but played in a higher league. George Burley spent 7mil in his play off year twice what Pardew has spent.
-
Never in doubt really:D http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8597859.stm time 1.20 to hear JPs verdict.

I think it helps he has improved the physical side of his game last season he seemed to shy away from tackles this year he is not afraid to put himself about a bit. What ever else people feel about AP he does seem to get the best out of our younger players. Morgan and Lallanna both look much better this year and Antonio has improved a lot since he came here.
-
Fair point. To be honest we needed another striker becuase Conolloy is never fit, we needed a right back (becuase the saints RB postion is cursed this season), Puncheon gave us extra pace and skill (well so I'm told, haven't seen much evidence yet but I wasn't at the Huddersfield game). Seabourne was bought in I believe to give Jaidi something to think about, his game improved when he thought his postion was under threat. So if we didn't get Seabourne what quaility midfield players where avaliable for 200K instead? Did we bid for Danns or Lines or was just rumoured interest?
-
I don't disagree about the subs I've stated on other threads AP should have changed thing earlier. The 4-5-1 isn't defensive if the players in the middle get forward to support Lambert the fact is we had more chances to score than Brighton and they scored on the break as we pushed people forward trying to score. So suggesting AP went to shut up shop and hope for a draw by playing defensivley is wrong IMO.
