  1. Sorry have I missed the bit where Swindon have been promoted:confused: Also Swindon are hardly penniless if their owners choose to spend League One top 5 (for what it's worth): 1 Sir Martyn Arbib (Swindon Town) £325m 2 Andrew Black (Swindon Town) £185m 3 Dean Hoyle (Huddersfield Town) £154m 4 Graham Ferguson Lacey (Millwall) £90m 5 Frank Van Wezel (Southend United) £72m Plus Their manager came in half way through last season. They've had one player from non league and most of their loans are promising youngsters from EPL teams or Celtic. Apart from all that no your right Swindon says it all (of course if they lose next saturday and we win we'll have actually got more points than Swindon this year)
  2. I'm sure the likes of Leeds, Wednesday and Notts Forest may disagree.
  3. So now we know who to blame for not reaching the play offs and for our bad start. Once Murty stopped playing we got better;)
  4. Well this ones just become avaliable http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/coventry_city/8659442.stm wouldn't want him myself;)
  5. Dodd was great player for our club but is complete crap as a manager, so it goes with many good players.
  6. In fairness he hasn't posted on this thread, but now you've mentioned him I'm sure he'll be along to give you some ****.
  7. We could have gone into admin a week earlier. The truth is us missing out on the play offs is a combo of lots of different things, there's little point dwelling on it. All so comparing results is hard becuase we've played with two different teams this year the one the finished the season hardly resembles the one that started it. I imagine we would have won some of those early games with the team we have now and lost quite a few of our recent games with the team we played in August.
  8. Hope this isn't true. What sort of message does it send out to possible replacements if we sack a manager that has won us our first silverware in 34 years, and took us to seventh despite admin and a -10 start. Some of these great replacements we could get (whoever they are?) might just not want to work for a chairman who'd sack a manager for that.
  9. Enough to make you worry about what would happen if a) he leaves during the summer b) gets a long term injury next season
  10. Basically a meaningless game for us and AP decided to experiment with some youth/fringe players I'm really not going to lose sleep over it. I can imagine if we were still in with a shout of the playoffs it would have been a different squad with players more up for it.
  11. No one wins every game not even Barca or man U if thats your hope next season you're going to be a very dissappointed bunny.
  12. Am I the only one who thinks he would make a good replacement for Antonio if he stays at Reading? He looked good in the few games he played last year before the injury. His name seems to crop up in the reserve match reports quite a bit. I think he set up Pulis for his goal in the reserves game which has got to take some talent. By all accounts a fast tricky winger.
  13. Cheers I wasn't sure
  14. I take it your an exile then? So basically becuase we're a bigger club than you (and we are which ever way you look at it) we're arrogant? seems to me it's more Bournemouth fans having little man syndrome. It seems your desperate to find reasons to hate us (the two you've listed are pretty flimsy). While saints fans really aren't bothered about Bournemouth at all.
  15. I suppose we'd have to buy the third highest striker in league one as we already had number one and two this season:)
  16. I wonder if AP has told Hammond that.
  17. Just need Lambert and Barnard to score a few more so they take the top two in the league top scorers list. I imagine we might play a few more of the youngsters/fringe players so AP can make some descions on those he might want for next years team. Not much to play for for us so I could see us losing as the Gills need the points to avoid the dreaded R.
  18. Transfer embargo? or does that only stop you from buying not selling?
  19. I'm not sure if he's the sort of player to get us of the relegation dog fight I'm told we will face next year. Does he have the balls for a Bournemouth-Saints south coast derby, It won't be anything like the friendly atmosphere at a Barca Vs Real Madrid game it will be proper hardcore.
  20. No I don't. I'm just saying that it's easy for players to say I'm not going anywhere if there are no offers on the table. Players are always saying they're happy and don't want to leave and are then gone three weeks latter when someone offers them a better deal. For what it's worth I think the club want to hold onto our players and will fight hard to do so. At the same time I don't think we should take it as red that we won't lose any of our best players over the summer either.
  21. Looking at some of the older players we signed this season though we should be wary . Murty, Connolly and Jahidi while they are all still good players none of them have been able to sustatin a full season becuase of injury and age. I suppose injuries hit you harder at 30+. Good experinced players are an asset if they stay fit. Also if we're just going to use him to get out of this division then spending a million on him seems over the top. Why not spend a million on a good player in his mid twenties that can go onto the EPL and get more bang for the clubs buck?
  22. If he comes here I guess Hammond will be warming the bench next season then.
  23. While I have to like the sentiment, surely it depends what offers come in during the long summer ahead. There was a rumour on here that Everton where interested in Lambert, you have to feel that if it was true and they made an offer Lambert would be pretty tempted. I think the players are happy here (they seem to be on matchdays) and are happy to stay unless a really good offer comes in ie EPL or top championship side. As a plyer it's easy to say you want to stay when there are no offers on the table.
  24. Why? They already have the Polish Rickie Lambert in Rasiak
  25. I would love to have a team made up of lots of homegrown talent it would be great, wheather it's a viable plan I don't know. Still having lots of talented players we developed our self would by nicer in the EPL than lots of mediorce (for EPL level) journey men and mercnaries IMO.
