  1. ? I thought it was 10 days. As for Lallana wouldn't be suprised if he played, several times last season we where told he was injured and wouldn't play only for him to turn up in the starting eleven on matchday.
  2. If it works great sadly in recent times our older experinced pros seem to have been over payed and over hyped.
  3. So I ****ed up the quote with reply:rolleyes:
  4. Have you forgotten the late '70s early '80s? I was six in 1980. I remember people like Mark Hughes coming and doing flip all. Does anybody remember Andrei Kanchelskis?
  5. Is he really only 30? seems like he's been around for ever. I don't now how strong the Turkish league is but he hasn't exactly set the world on fire over there has he? I'd rather we went for younger hungrier talent. Big name player past thirty alway come across as looking for one last big pay out at are expense.
  6. How did Adam injury himself? he was fighting fit at the end of last season. All these players getting injuried before the first ball of the season gets kicked is quite disturbing are they being trainned to hard or something?
  7. Injuries are part of football it's why we need strength in depth, of course if they're all going to get buggered up before the season even starts we might need a bit more depth than we first thought . Judging by last season we need at least 20 RB I don't what it is, but that postion seems cursed at saints these days.
  8. I suppose if you imagine something like this happening in your work place how would you feel? "Hey it's ok the new guy earns four times more than me. It's for the good of the company" if you'd be alright with that your a better man than me. Footballers are like everyone else that sort of thing upsets people. Now if he's prepared to take an 75%-80% pay cut it wouldn't be a problem but I can't see it just so he can play league one.
  9. We can hardly bleat about clubs with money troubles can we? I know we paid our tax bill on time but still we've been in a similair postion not so long ago we got very very lucky many other fans still consider us cheats. Still -10pts for the owls for going into admin would help us out;) I doubt anything will come of it how many times did Southend go through this last season?
  10. I'm going to have to get my kids to start watching the news in the morning rather than fecking Pepa pig me thinks. Keeping on topic I do think the bbc local news should do a full half hour saints slot every morning ideally around 6.30-7.00 just before I leave for work.
  11. Not well enough that they want him in their team though it's not like we wouldn't have let him go. If he'd done that well surely Lincoln would have tried to buy him by now (although no doubt we'd have let him go on a free)? Also several Lincoln fans on 606 where just as dismissive of his talents as a footballer as hatchs lincoln supporting mate.
  12. Ask some imps fans he couldn't even break into their team in league two. They where less than complementry about him after seeing him get a few games in their first team. Chris Sutton didn't coming rushing in for him this summer did he? if he's not good enough for for Lincoln city he sure isn't good enough for us.
  13. Is it me or is young Antony rather injury prone when he went on loan last season he had to come back early becuase of injury, I'm sure he was subbed after hurting himself in the Havant game the other day too. I reckon it's ploy if he can stay injuried no one can see him play, If they don't see him play no one will figure out that he might not really be a footballer only 10 more years and he can retire as the greatest player never to have played in a first team.
  14. Bought my first season ticket and got one for my son too we loved last season can't wait for this one. Need to e-mail the club though I worked out that me and the nipper (under twelve) could seat in the chapel for 433 but according to my credit card statement this morning I got charged 480 and I can't work out why.
  15. I know pre-season is kind of meaningless but losing 2-1 to Grimsby suggests the owls squad isn't that great. At least we're losing to foreign clubs with pedigree (or so I'm told) http://www.swfc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10304~2094856,00.html
  16. I'm not he has been taken on the pre season tour by Reading when several more experinced players weren't I think his future will be there not here with us. I'm pretty sure we've seen the last of Papa too we need some pace and some impact from the bench so these two need replacing asap IMO or we will struggle.
  17. Sounds promising if Holmes can stay fit (unlikely given his history I would have thought). Having someone who can deliver pinpoint passes into the box would be handy some of our crossing (not to mention corners) was pretty poor at times last season probably because Antonio and Papa where really strikers rather than wingers.
  18. Fair enough my mistake. I'm pretty sure they're still a much better side than the non-league/league two sides some of our legaue one rivals lost to though.
  19. spot on hell Chartlon lost to wimbledon AFC 2-0 Bristol rovers lost to bath city 2-0 Plymouth got tonked 3-1 by Torquay looking at those results 4-2 against a team playing CL last season doesn't look bad at all. We will only get stronger in the next few weeks as fitness levels go up and the players shake the rust out of their systems.
  20. Every team that comes to st Mary's will play for a draw resulting in loads of dire matches at home where the opposition puts 10 men behind the ball and a lone striker up front to try and nick a goal and the 3pts at the death. It will be like the Oldham match every week.
  21. spot on both are worth far more to the team than Puncheon IMO
  22. Not the same team, there are two (three if you include semi) players missing from the team that did those things Papa and Antonio. Without them this team looks very pedestrian on the pace side of things. Plenty of teams are doing bussiness right now. After lasts years excuses that we started poorly becuase of our ****ed up pre-season, surely this year we should have got an early start on strengthening the team?
  23. True to a point but we still need a right back (or two) decent midfield cover and some pace in the team. The longer these new players have to work with the current players the better surely. Look what happened around the january window we bought in some great players but there was a dip in form as they got to know their team mates. Once they had we where the best side in the divison on form. If we bring in new signings to late (like August for example) we might start the season slower than we'd like putting pressure on the team from the start.
  24. Those are EPL bosses though down in league one there has been loads of activity going on among our rivals judging by the bbc sports pages. Lasts years excuse for a poor start (which I was happy to swallow) was there was little time to get things sorted before the season started. That left me feeling that we would make the most of this years break to get everything right. The longer we leave it the less time there is to settle the squad and hit the ground running IMO.
