They were utterly dreadful at st Mary's too one attack in a whole game (shame they ****ing scored from it). Thing is the legaue is a marthon not a sprint as long as we are within the top four at christmas we will be in with a good shout of winning. Having said that next saturday is going to be emotional, nothing against Orient but I hope we smash them as a fitting farewell to ML.

No one has ever won the JPT two years in a row it would be a nice little bit of history for the club. Promotion from the league is important but I'd like us to try and win the JPT again it's the only one we're realistically in with a chance to win. Trophies in the cabinet is what it's all about at the end of the day. Plus I really want us to smash ****ing Swindon worst match I saw last season was Swindon at home.

Aren't we suppose to be self funding though? I'm sure when Markus first purchased the club NC said the club would be run within its means. Not having a mortgage on the staduim and no debts should mean all the money the club makes goes back into the club. We should then spend accordingly, this may mean the club never gets back to the EPL but if it means the club never goes near adminstration again I'm happy with that.

I don't get why people are worried about the future? If Marcus's family decided to sell on SFC we are still in a good postion as long as any new owner isn't a total moron and we live with in our means we will be in good shape as a club. How many clubs in football are debt free, own their own staduim and have gates around 20k a week? not to many. It may mean we have to find our natural level in the english football world (probably a mid-table championship side) rather than being in the EPL thanks to a wealthy mans money and I can live with that. Marcus's greatest legacy to SFC has already happened he has created a club that owns it's own assets and has no debt meaning this club if run properly has a bright future where in time honoured fashion we can pass our love and passion of SFC onto the next generation of saints fans.

RIP Marcus thanks for everything. -
I think the New Towners are stronger than last year so It should be a good match they've picked up some interesting players plus they owe us some payback (well four paybacks really). However if scouse striker and young wonder kid from Bournemouth are playing I think we will be to good for them shame superfast Reading loanee won't be there to give their ginger winger LB a hard time like he did last season.

Actually I'd quite like to see Stoke at home (nice to see Delap again), maybe then we could sing "Please take your son home" to Pullis Snr

Taken from the SSN round up And Bristol City, expected to be promotion challengers in the Championship, suffered a second defeat of the week as Southend sealed a dramatic 3-2 win in the 104th minute, Matt Paterson completing his double to give the Shrimpers the win. So Patterson is scoring braces againts championship oppostion now.

I think both Seabourne and Jiadi are similair both are good in the air both are suspect at feet, but Seabourne has pace and jiadi has experince. When I saw Seabourne play last season he looked competent without looking spectacular, he's good enough at this level and young enough to improve, jiadi won't get any faster though.

TBH with the money we have we could do better, do we really want has beens like that wearing the stripe I think not................................?

That was really noticable against Plymouth the number of times Harding made a run for the overlap in the first half only for Dickson to head in field and ignore Harding was incredible. Harding was doing his nut.
-
In fairness the season is only two matches old he scored 24(?) last season so thats about what one every two games. I imagine he will get more chances playing off Lambert poaching the second ball than being up front with another short arse. I think if we can get a constant Barnard /lambert pairing (assuming we're playing4-4-2) they'll bang the goals in for us this season.
-
Can't people just enjoy the win without being told we're still crap?
-
God I hope so I rate him we need his style of play to give us a way to change games.
-
According to the radio Dickson had a mare at LB first half (well the whole team had a mare really) Harding came on and seemed to shore up the left side quite well.

It's got fu ck all to do with who is bigger there is just no history between the two clubs that's not arrogance it's just fact. There is no way Bournemouth/Saints is ever going to rival Pompey/Saints for atmosphere. Also of the three cups we will play in this season the Carling is the least interesting to me personally the FA cup is always great and the JPT is interesting becuase we're the current holders. Having already sold my soul for a season ticket this year I have to pick and choose what other matches I go and see (I can't afford them all) this one just has nothing to reccomend it if that makes me an arrogant ***** I 'll live with it.

Assuming your wet dream comes true will you give O'Neill 2 or 3 matches before you decide he is not good enough?
-
Do we have the best squad in the league? if so why do people keep saying we need more players? did you expect us to win all our matches this season? I might agree more with you if a) we'd been battered (which we weren't) and b) we were a few matches into the season. It amazes me that people are making massive sweeping statements about the state of the team after one league match.

A proper derby needs more than being close though it needs passion. I just don't care about Bournemouth, Portsmouth is a derby becuase both sides give a **** in this case only Bournemouth fans care so just isn't the same.
-
Surely it would be better that no saints fans went? Imagine that would make them feel far worse than lots of us turning up and actually making out we care. Evening matches are never good for me although if it were a real derby like a pompey game I'd make the effort. For Bourenmouth in the carling cup I'll pass.
-
You've come to that conclusion after one whole match? yes the team could be improved but to suggest we are sliding and not as good as last season after one game smacks off knee jerk. We've lost three players who played any major role in last season (Antonio, Papa and James) both Butterfield and Dickson looked good additions to the squad other than that it's the same squad who finished last season minus two injuries today. Bearing in mind those two injuries (lambert and lallanna)were two of our best players last year the team may have looked a little weaker today. Yet despite this we outplayed Plymouth for 90% of the match one mistake cost us today, we weren't thrashed by a Barcelona like display of football by Plymouth .
-
According to the match stats plymouth had one shot on target all game so I can't see how our back four where exposed that much. From where I was sitting Saints did most of the attacking in both halves plymouth offered nothing going forward.
-
Knew what would happen? that we would lose a game? wow thats some insight full credit for knowing that would happen. Have you looked at the match stats? Plymouth had one shot on target all game and scored with it. We weren't out played by some surperior team, we were all over them for most of the match. The way some posters are trying to use this one game to point out their amazing powers of prediction is laughable. Come back at the end of the season if we don't get promoted I'll bow to you superior insight.

No we did make their keeper make saves, it just wasn't our strikers doing it which is kind of worrying.
