What ****ing match were you watching there was no collapse we had 17 attempts on goal to there 5. Quite a few players were throwing themselves into tackles and challenges yesterday hence the yellow cards and stopping to let the physios on to the pitch every five miniutes in the second half. The only crime the team committed yesterday (and against plymouth) was not putting away some of the many chances they made for themselves. Our biggest problem at the moment is finishing not heart or spirit.

Prehaps then someone else will come in and lets hope they win quick or they'll be out too and the merry go round will keep going until someone gets it right. I was fully behind AP last seasonI felt he did a good job. This years a new season we will see how he does. I'm not to upset becuase in both league matches I've seen we have been the much better team we had 17 shots at goal yesterday we are creating chance glorie just can't quite find that final touch to get them in the back of the net as soon as that happens we will be fine.

thats fair comment it's always the problem with right /left backs though the attacking ones like Semi are always leaving you exposed at the back. The question is do you want your backs defending or attacking? for me first job should be defence.

Sky hasn't fallen yet? what time does the world end? thought it would be right after the game seems there is a time delay.
-
Now he's got a few games under his belt what do people think of our new rightback? I like him looks cool and calm on the ball, knows what he's about. Played well yesterday I thought. All though typically after I said that to my son yesterday he put in a couple of shocking passes. All in all though I think it's nice to have a good solid right back in the right back postion.

Southampton 1 - 1 Leyton Orient - Post match reaction

really! Butterfield looked very good yesterday made a couple of sloppy passes in the secondhalf but overall very calm and composed in defence excellent addition to the squad its nice to have a proper rightback at last. -
Out of interest those that say it's a must. What will you do if we don't get promoted? Every saints fan wants us to be champions but isn't that the same every season? No doubt if we don't get promotion there will be a new manager and new players but so what? The world won't end if we don't get promoted no doubt we will all be might angry ****ed off for a few days but how will that be any different from normal;)
-
No it's not essential, desirable yes essential no. The club doesn't cease to exsist if we fail to get promoted the fans won't dissapper there are lots of clubs that have carried on the lower leagues for years. We all want to win the league/get promoted but if we don't most of us won't stop supporting saints the world will not end.

Fair play. For me watching cricket comes just before having my eyes put out with hot pokers on the list of things I least want to happen, I haven't found another sport that gets the blood flowing like a good game of football. I agree though money is slowly ruining football.

The chapel is the family end, I believe the corner is the family enclosure or some such. It costs less becuase you have to sit next to the likes of me and my brats or among the barely awake coffin dodgers:D

The fate of Liverpool last season suggests that might not be true, they suffered injuries to both Torres and Gerrad for a big part of last season and didn't bring in any big name replacements hence their poor showing (by there standards last season). The problem is where are these top quaility replacements for our best players going to come from, which decent players are going to come here to sit on there arses playing understudy to RL. I would suggest any player who is happy with that isn't the sort of player we want.
-
Some good points but why buy and not loan? We've spent a fortune at this level maybe there isn't anymore money in the pot? two of our best players last season were loans and they did very well for us whats to say we can't a couple of good loans in this season to beef up the squad?
-
I can't believe I'm saying this but you have a point. Thats why I think we're looking at loans. I think our best eleven is the best in the league it's when the first eleven aren't all avaliable we'll be in trouble good quaility loans like Papa and Antonio last season would sort us out.
-
Thats my feeling too. People just took it for granted there was unlimited cash to spend IMO.
-
Well we have sold it to some but Fonte was the only one from a higher division the rest where league one players or had been realeased. Papa was quoted in the italian press as saying he wanted to play at a higher level so the vision doesn't work on everyone.
-
No we won't (never thought we would) as he has already gone to Cardiff according to the BBC. It goes to show though that there will be lots of EPL players that won't get into the 25 man squads they've got to play somewhere. Ok we won't get any big names like Bellamy but some of the lesser players would still be good enough for us.
-
We don't know the terms (unless you do? I haven't seen them anywhere) Man city may be picking up the wage bill or part of it (in fact giving Cardiffs fianices they must be surely?) as they won't let him go to a EPL club.
-
Well I wouldn't mind a season long loan of a player of this quaility http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/8919925.stm It seems man city would rather he didn't play for an EPL team but they're not naming him in their squad for the season. Some have already said this what AP is waiting for there might be a quite a few EPL loannes avaliable. So what if it's only for a season could make all the difference to a promotion chase.
-
*Shrug* Managers say all sorts of stuff. Actions speak louder than words and there has been much less activity this summer than most of us thought there would be. Prehaps it is out of APs hands? At the end of the day APs not the one holding the purse strings.
-
So did Swindon I believe last season.
-
I'm not hopefull. As I said before I have a feeling this summers ear marked transfer budget was spent last january in attempt to push the plan on quicker when it looked like promotion was a possibility. We have already spent a lot of money on this squad prehaps NC thinks we've spent enough? I also don't think we ever had the pots of money some fans thought we did before ML's sad passing and its even less likely we have loads of money now. The most important thing to me is the club lives within it's means and never goes any where near adminstration again. I think it's loans for us not a bad thing as long as they're for the season hell Antonio and Papa where good for us last season who says we can't find a couple of loans that good this season?
-
Maybe you and glasgow should get a room:blush:
-
That's a big statement seeing as we've played two whole games this season (granted only one in the league) and we've one 50% of those the result againt bournemouth looks even better after they stuffed the posh 5-1 on Saturday. I'd agree with some of what your saying if we're not winning after a few matches but after one league match where our two best players didn't start I'm not going to get upset yet.
-
I think the truth is we blew the summer transfer budget back last christmas in a bid to speed up the plan and get promotion a year early. It looks more and more likely to me that the squad we have is the squad we're going to get this season bar a few loans. It's a pretty good squad bar injuries and bans so lets hope Morgan behaves himself this year...................
