I don't disagree with most of that Phil what gets me is the rumours and smears that some keep throwing his way not proof just I heard it from a source he was banging so and so wife it ****es me off. The club have never claimed gross misconduct I don't buy the bad publicity thing NC has proved with his dealings with the press already he isn't bothered by bad press if he thinks he is right. If NC thought he could ditch AP on a clear case of gross misconduct and saved himself a settlement into the bargain he would of done it IMO there is hardly going to be bad press from reveling you sacked an employee for gross misconduct if it's true(in fact I'd have more respect for NC in such a stuation). AP and NC couldn't get along AP had to go no problem, timming could have been better like the summer but do people really need to smear AP as a drunken letch? I don't think so.

I think your place needs a better HR department.
-
LOL nice. To be honest I'm not sure who's winning the three way going on on this thread, entertaining reading though.
-
you'd of thought so.

Keeping an open mind whose keeping an open mind? I've seen plenty of people condeming AP as a boozie near rapist based on what some bloke in the pub told them and I've seen plenty of people calling for Barney's head becuase of what some bloke in the pub told them. Where's the difference? All I've said is that If seen no evidence Pardew was sacked for gross misconduct I've also seen no evidence that Barney stabbed some bloke reapetadly in the face with a bottle either. Yet people have banded both of those things around on here, so where is the difference?
-
spot on. Bit boring though much better to assume a druken Alan Pardew was roaming staplewood searching for players wives to ravage and defile. Of course with your interpretation of the club statement some could critisce NC for not just removing Alan in the summer and that wouldn't do at all.
-
No difference at all from what I can see. lots of rumours and people hearing things from other people not one shred of evidence that anybody knows the truth.
-
Its wierd that people won't believe an offical press release from the club, but five minitues of speaking to the bloke who cleans the loo at SMS and they'll believe anything. Not one shred of evidence about Pardew has come to light (plenty of rumours) and people condem him quite happily probably the same people who were saying we should give Barnard the benfit of the doubt (which I believe is fair). I understand some people didn't like Pardew, I understand some didn't like his football style what I don't understand is their desire to drag his name through the mud and demonise him based on a few internet rumours.

No offence at all. I've been involved in my fair share of displinary stuff at work with staff that need to be got rid off and unless football clubs don't have to follow employment law (which is possible considering how many clubs don't both with tax law) I don't see how he can off been sacked for gross misconduct. Now if you have a lot more experince in HR and employment law feel free to explain it to me. Prefebly in more detail than some vague idea that it might make southampton FC look bad which is irrelevant and compleate untrue if he did in fact commit gross misconduct.
-
well you can't really assume they'll find their shooting boots against hudders either. I hope they do but on current form our strikers haven't been scoring as many as the probably should considering the chances they've had
-
So in other words the club wouldn't be confident enough in their gross misconduct charge to go to court which in effect means their wasn't really any gross misconduct. In all the places I've worked if you've committed gross misconduct and the employer can prove it your sacked you can't take the employer to court as you don't have a leg to stand on and you certainly don't get a settlement. If your employer can't prove it then they can't sack you for it, you can't be sacked becuase they think you are doing something. Giving Pardew a settlement seems to prove to me that he was sacked for footballing reasons just like almost every other football manager not becuase he was humping his way round staplewood. No way do I buy the Idea that NC a man who picks fights with the press for fun and is very single minded if he feels he is the right is going to worry about bad publicity from the press or back down from a court battle.
-
Wheres the bad publicity for us if he did something wrong? the club would be acting entirely within their rights sack someone for gross misconduct. Also I don't think NC is all that bothered by what the press think considering his run ins with them recently.
-
I think his stock is higher in football circles than it is with a portion of our fanbase. I hope he gets another job bloke deserves it.
-
Why? gross misconduct would mean no need to make any settlement at all, more "your fired, clear your desk, get the **** out" surely football still has to follow UK employment Law (although as they can refuse to give money to the taxman maybe football is above petty things like law)? I just don't see NC handing out anything he doesn't have to of the money front. We will never know what happened but I'd like to think the club wouldn't waste cash on a payout they didn't need to make and I'm saying that as someone who liked AP.
-
If Pardew was sacked for gross misconduct as some ITK on here told us. Why are we giving him a settlement? If I was sacked for gross misconduct I'd get escorted of site by secruity not given a nice settlement. Cheers for a great season Alan hope you find a new Job soon.

I don't know with the exception of Bristol (were apparently we were crap and scored four lucky deflections) we've hardly been prolific in front of goal this season we squandered a hat full of chances on Saturday (which has been the story of our season so far). We need to be far more clinical in front of goal against a poor side like Tranmere you can get away with it some times but Huddersfield are a much stronger side.
-
No no I've just heard Phil brown has said he'll take the job he even though it hasn't been offered to him, time for the day glow orange revolution.
-
I heard its going to be Martin O'neil he has already had an interview with NC.
-
The point though is not whether plan A, B or Z works but did it exsist. People say Pardew had no plans other the Long ball this is IMO clearly not true, now you can as you have pointed out say that those plans didn't work (a lets face it no manager is full proof) but the claim that Pardew never tried to change anything or try a plan B is false. My personal feelings on this are we won't see the high scoring games we saw under Pardew with Nigel in Charge equally though we will see less of those odd blips we got under Pardew with Nigel. Both managers seem to be effective (and Pardew IMO was effective more often than not last season) just using a different styles.

Ohhh I might start another one Doddisalegened is hung like a horse:D

The noticable thing for me was his lack of understanding with Harding (not unsurprising as a new player in a team). Harding would overlap or make runs and then Dickson would move in field leaving Harding all out of postion and looking rather ****ed off (although harding looks ****ed off most of the time to be fair). Harding and Lallana play really well as a left sided pair they seem to have a good idea of what the other one is up to I wouldn't want to break that up unless we were forced to.
-
Puncheon and Lallana are always swopping sides they did it under Pardew too . I don't get where this Pardew had no plan B thing comes from. Plenty of games last season where changed by the introduction of Papa or Antonio or by swopping from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2. It's almost as if people repeat something enough times on here it becomes fact.
-
Aren't they almost all left sided players though? The right side could have done with some more depth thats the side both Papa and Antonio played, when it became clear they weren't coming back a second right sided winger might have been a good idea. Oxo is good but apparently he played central mid-field for the youth side not as a winger.

After last week I'm sure Nigel said Guly's fitness levels needed working on after he went off with cramp. I'd start with Guly and then bring on Barnard TBH. Despite not being in very good shape Lambert is still our top scorer and he won't find last years goal scoring form sitting on the bench. Also there is the chance that Barney will come in for a lot of stick from the home fans after recent events how he wiull react to that I'm not sure but it might be any issue.
-
He does take a decent corner though something many of our players seem to find quite hard.
