  1. I love the enthusiam even If I don't quite see it at the moment myself
  2. I don't think it's just league one there were enough ****s up in the world cup and that was supposed to be the pinncle of football.
  3. or just giving his opinion Shock horror
  4. Yes I do. Every time I saw Mills at LB standing in for Harding last year he did well. He even kept Harding out of the team for a while too. So far Dickson has done nothing to impress me the few times I've seen him play. Ok Mills didn't look great when he was bought on to replace OXO by Wilkins but he was playing out of postion.
  5. I reserve the right to change my mind many many times this season to the answer of that question. Yes, no, I haven't got a f ucking clue. At the moment I can't see it but put five wins in a row together and I'll start imagining us winning the league, lose the two after that and I'll be back to imagining mid table obscurity.
  6. I wouldn't want Gordon back, there are very few past managers that left with any goodwill from the fans Gordon was one of them and his time in charge ranks as one of our best eras ever for me personally. If he came back it would a big cluster f uck and everyone would end up hating him I'd rather just be left with the memories of the good times.
  7. The BBC highlights are (mercifully) short but I thought Kelvin might have done better on the second the ball seemed to go right under his body.
  8. I imagine he might have more sense than apply to manage that club, they're only going one way this season IMO and thats the same place as us and Charlton. Bet Phil Brown offers his services though. Just goes to show though that some managers and clubs work and some just don't regardless of how well thay have or haven't done else where.
  9. Ah but he was one of those rare things a saints manager who was kind of succsessful plus the way he left means that unlike most previous saints mangers most saints fans still like him, so we still like to talk about him sorry.
  10. Do you know what was going on behind the scences at the club? None of us really have a clue why we didn't sign the players we all thought we needed was it AP not bothering? NC refusing to sanction any more? no more money in the kitty. Maybe the players we wanted just weren't there for the price we wanted? Of course if your ITK share it. For what it's worth and it's just speculation I think ML and NC had a budget to go with the five year plan we spent most of last summers budget last january in an attempt to gain promotion a bit earlier than planned, it didn't work but the money was already spent so they kept spending low in the summer to stick to the budget they had set figuring the team was pretty solid.
  11. Fontes comments about the match and playing out from the back, quite intersting how the manager and the players all seem to think it wasn't working yet it took them 45 mins to change it http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2186711,00.html
  12. Oh yes along with the "If saints can just score some goals they could still win this" mantra Your right though Nigel has said the same thing after the match. I suppose what you need are players with the initiative to change things that aren't working off their own back while broadly sticking to the game plan. I imagine the players have had the passing out from the back drilled into them the last few weeks and just stuck to it even when it wasn't working for fear of upseting the manager. I've always wondererd how much effect managers can have from the sidelines TBH. I think times like saturday is when you need your senior players to step up and change things.
  13. Fair enough I didnt have a ST last year so I got quite lucky with the matches I did see I suppose, if you take cup games there are a couple more Torquay and Norwich in the JPT (both at home I admit) and Carlisle and Brighton away we got draws despite going behind. The point is last year I almost always felt we could get back into a match when we where losing (apart from Brighton at home that was poor) this year not so much I suspect that's becuase we are finding goals a lot harder to come by this season.
  14. incoming hope you've got your helmet on.
  15. doesn't say much about us at the moment then, what with being in the lower part of it.
  16. thats a bit of a worry though only a few matches in and people have sussed out the new Southampton style already..........
  17. I'm pretty sure we did that plenty of times last season though (it got to the stage I didn't worry about it becuase I expected us to get 3 goals every game , this season I'd agree there have been a few times when I've looked at the players and thought I can't see us getting back into this.
  18. I wasn't there but the legend that is Dave Merrington said pretty much the same thing on the radio.
  19. you know a match was a good one when something in the stands is the highlight of your day:(
  20. He better hope we don't have to many games like to day then. If he does fail (and I'm not saying he will) does he get replaced in the summer? or do we wait until the season is several games in before getting rid and then let Wilkins run the show for a few games?
  21. Yep that about sums it up. Listening to the radio we tried to change it today but left it to late IMO. We might have been better off making changes at half time as it was clear that things had gone badly wrong in the first 45mins. We might have caught Hudders out straight after the re-start with some changes.
  22. whoops not part of the plan looks like Nigel has got a bit of work to do yet. Luckily I didn't get to carried away after the Tranmere result so this one hasn't hit me to hard. We need to start scoring goals though I don't know where the free scoring team of last year has gone but I want them back what happened to only winning 3-1?
  23. Feel sorry for Martin though he was doing really well I thought he looked class now he's not even on the bench.
  24. I have idea on the result both teams seem to be coming into some form off the back of dissapointing starts to the season. I assume it will be tight hudders are a good team hopefully we will shade it.
  25. Not worse (they've been bad for a long time) but we still don't take very good corners we rarely seem to profit from them, I think Jose scored one goal from a corner this season (can 't think of any others). I hope Nigel might work on some of the players corner delivery (the best corners I've seen this year came from lee Holmes in his little sub apperance) it's kind of poor when players can't even beat the first man or send it right over everyone.
