Yes I do, the idea we played with no width last season is false. Adam and Puncheon are playing the same postions the same way they did under Pardew both still cut inside on occassions both still go out wide too. Oxo is great but I saw Antonio do the same sort of thing last season. If anything the right and left backs are getting forward less than they did under AP. Harding and Lallana overlapped out wide on lots of occasions last season and thats only starting to happen again in the last couple of games this season, I don't think Richardson got across the half way line more than a couple of times on tuesday. When KD took goal kicks on tuesday all the players moved to one side of the pitch like they always do, except on one occasion when I saw Lallanna out wide unmarked the KD never even thought about passing it to him. Look at the third goal on tuesday night KD kicks, lambert flicks on Lallana controls simple pass to Barnard goal, 3 passes in all from a long ball results in a goal . It only matters if you get your knickers in a twist about longball vs playing like Barca debate personally it doesn't bother me if we play it long if it gets results. I think Nigels doing a good job I thought Pardew was doing a good job the difference in play are minimal and mostly cosmetic IMO both had/have the same target promotion, with the resources they have/had anything less is/was faliure. The biggest differences between Nigel and Alan are most likely behind the scences one clearly had issues with the chairman one it would seem doesn't.

My feelings on Nigel is he is doing ok. For me now he has got settled in we're basically getting back to where we were at the end of last season. Despite what some are claiming (tranmere game aside) I really can't see much difference between the football we are playing now and the football we played the end of last season apart from Kelvin rolls the ball out sometimes rather than kicking all the time. There was plenty of punting going on in the daggers game I'm not sure what the difference between Kelvin kicking the ball to Lambert and Kelvin rolling the ball to Jose who then kicks it long to Lambert is? Most decent managers should be getting the results we're getting (and were getting last season) with our resources. We can really only Judge Nigel at the end of the season (much as at the end of last season I felt we'd done well considering where we'd started) if we get promoted he's done well if we don't he has failed simples.

I have a lot of sympathy for Leon what ever happened it always seemed he was trying his best for the club . It may have not worked out but it never felt like he was doing anything for personal gain unlike all the others who were involved in our descent into the sh it pit.

In the chapel row HH just behind the goal, with my eye sight anything that happens down the other end is just a blur which is why both OXOs goals looked like flukes to me, My son plays RB for his youth team so we always watch the backs carefully out of habit.
-
It was an enteraining match to watch (well probably not for the daggers fans) 4 goals and a win is always going to leave me happy Good bits OXO played the way Puncheon should be playing really a handful when he runs at people, from the chapel both goals looked like crosses that went in by fluke. Look forward to seeing them on the highlights. Chaplow at last midfield has some bite lots of good solid tackling he was like a little terrier, nice to see him get forward too ( although he never really looks like scoring he has muffed a few chances now) Lambert I know some are slagging him but I thought he looked the best I've seen him this season won a lot more ball up front and and some great passes running around a lot more too just needs to find the goalscoring touch now. bad bits Some sloppy play at times poor passing and aimless punts got away with it last night but against better teams we will get punished for it. Richardson - best RB in league one really? Giving him the benefit of the doubt as he's just come back from injury but he was skinned several times, didn't put in one decent tackle or block all night and gave the ball away a lot, get Butters back to health quick I say. Corners- again ours were poor. While the daggers ones always looked a threat, we need to defend better against them than that. Overall enjoyed it and another 3 pts onwards and upwards.

Personally I like to sit down with a copy of the Pink, a bacon sarnie and a big mug of coffee on a sunday morning to get someone elses view on the match, don't always agree with it but that's football (just look at the post match threads on here). Don't really give a **** about the whole NC/echo spat the echo is the only paper that gives any meanigful coverage to saints so I'll read it. Prehaps when we get back to the prem the national press might gives us more coverage and I'll swap to a different sunday morning rag, but while we're down in the lower leagues the Echo is going to be it as far as press coverage goes. As for the OP we were by all accounts pretty poor until Notts county went down to ten men so that may reflect the scores some what, but it's just one guys opinion doesn't mean you have to agree.

Quite frankly if we were to drop Harding (and I see no reason to do so) it would be to replace him with Mills who by all accounts is doing a good job in a team in a league higher than ours. Dickson hasn't done much to convince me yet that he deserves a place in the starting 11. Puncheon for Oxo maybe, but despite showing some good skills Oxo is still young and can go missing for periods of a match, you can't say the same for Puncheon as frustrating as he is he always sees a lot of the ball and tries (wish we could replace him with Antonio though Sigh)

Seems like Mills is doing pretty well on loan at Donny, some of there fans want to sign him up permantly. Wonder how Dickison would get on in the champ. http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=184&fid=96&sty=2&act=1&mid=2119751075

Oh bugger. Seems Mr Pulis has resoted to form, a goal in his first match, possible man of the match in the second to Powder puff and invisible in his fouth match (managed to get a booking and then subbed by 60mins). Stockport boards http://members3.boardhost.com/marionsboard/msg/1288468102.html wouldn't be suprised if he gets sent back soon......

Well what ever we think of him he is now joint top scorer in league one he's found his level it would seem. Maybe we didn't play to his strengths or maybe he has more composure in front of goal these days? his goals at plymouth seem to be long ball punt down field and hope BWP has the pace to outrun the defence and slot home (seems to be working for him too).

Harding? Mills? or a disgruntled Dickson due to not getting any first team action?

Saints 3 Notts County 1 - Post Match Reaction

quite clearly gave us something then;) -
I'm pretty sure fighting isn't allowed, still Barney should be pretty handy if it comes to a punch up.
-
Harding scored three last year including a screamer against someone (can't remember who know though) Calderon has scored four goals since 2007 so he is hardly some sort of free scoring rightback. IMO backs should be concentrating on defending rather than scoring.
-
I can't make my mind up about Guly he looked good against Tranmere but in fairness my mum would have looked good against the tranmere side that turned up at SMS. He is a bit hit and miss his passing can look woeful at times and he seems to pull ou of challenges and 50/50s a bit much for my liking on the other hand sometimes he gets stuff going just by chasing down a ball Lambert would never get near.
-
Well done Alex. From a purely selfish point of view I'd rather he wasn't being noticed, we need to keep our young talent under the radar or he'll be off to bloody Arsenal by the end of the season:cry:
-
I think that would work very well. Might be nice if we varied the team formations a bit more as well as most teams in this league must have a good idea of the way we set up and play by now (hudders certainly did).
-
I kind of agree in a 4-4-2 but playing behind the striker in a 4-5-1 I wonder if he'd be effective with his pace and dribbling ability. All so it's intresting to me that youth side considered him a centeral midfielder must have something about him in that role.
-
Reading one of my match programes from early this season there was an interview with Alex where he said that he had always played central midfield for the youth side and was surprised to be put on the wing by AP in his first game something Nigel has continued with. Does anyone think it would be worth moving Alex back into the centre rather than playing on the wing? Maybe in a 4-5-1 with Hammond and Chaplow (to do the defensive stuff) with Adam and Punch on the wings and Lambert up front. or is playing on the wing the best use for Alex's talent? Thoughts?
-
We had a different manager then though and Ince had a different team. It's not the manager that makes the difference more that the Notts players will all want to impress the gaffer and play their best. I reckon it will be a draw 1-1. Lambert and Barney up front for me (on the basis that sooner or later they have got to click).
-
Well this confirms that were going to lose Saturday...

Got his own back this year though didn't he? funnily enough he was far less angry after winning 2-0. -
Shrews ticket prices (and SFC dig at them too!)

It's all about picking fights you can win. Fight the press you going to lose, fight shrewbury town and you'll probably win. -

Do we get on with anyone in football anymore? still I'm not complaining might bring the nipper down for this one after all, I love a good cup match teams tend to play more open football (though I suppose the shrews might want to take it back to their place for a replay and try for the draw).
