  1. Each to there own. Best season of football in years for me under AP last year this year by comparrassion has been very poor so far. If we're juding soley what he did for us then he did a good job. The idea he played terrible long ball football is false. Funnily enough we're playing the same style of football under Nigel but apparently now we look like Barca everytime we come on the pitch according to some on here.
  2. No we sacked one who won us our first trophy in 34 years, but as it's not a promotion I suppose it doesn't count. The days when fans cared about cups over just being in the PL are long gone these days everyone would rather be fourth from bottom in the PL than win a cup.
  3. Which will make it harder to sell surely. In the current climate people are looking for a bargin plenty of clubs on the edge out there. Far batter to do what ML did wait for a club to go to the wall pick it up for a bargin price pay a small percentage of the debt and then build the club up to hopefully sell on for more money latter. We're going to cost a lot more which makes us less attractive I would have thought.
  4. Which means nothing at all really, managers of lower league clubs like us say this all the time but if the player wants away there's not much we can do to stop them. While we may not need the money as badly as some clubs (although in truth none of us really know the clubs finanical state) we're still a league one club. Clubs above us can offer higher standards of football and no doubt offer better contracts than we can do. Hell even if we were in the PL we wouldn't be able to stop our best players going to one of the big four or five let alone in league one.
  5. Doesn't look like puncheon had much effect on Millwalls last game from the highlights, one tackle and a through ball that came to nothing quite a lot of him standing around in the background though. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/9258552.stm
  6. thank god our club would never do anything so crass.
  7. well if he gets a PL job kind of puts paid to the whole not good enough for us theroy, don't know if Adam would want to go to Newcastle bit far north for a south coast boy (I hope).
  8. and far more expensive. Depends what investors are looking for I suppose. I don't think ML would have bought us today the attraction was the knock down price and chance to make a lot of money back later. A club in our postion will be a lot more expensive which will cut into the money you make back when it's sold on for a profit at a later date.
  9. yeah I know you never had any time for Antonio. For me though Antonio had raw pace and strength that Puncheon never showed, Puncheon probably has better technical skill than Antonio but he never seemed to worry fullbacks the way Antonio did he certainly wasn't as quick and was much easier to knock of the ball. Puncheon always ran into to many dead ends for me Antonio was more direct. Oxo is better than both though.
  10. based on what? football clubs are in the main poor investments. We've already had our sugar daddy I can't see their being loads more all waiting to buy saints in the current climate. Markus got us at a knock down price we won't be cheap now as the owners will want their money back plus some extra. If someone wants to buy a lower league club there are plenty of cheaper options than us. I mean look how long it took to to get someone interested in sheff wednesday and then they ended up with Mandric. Maybe the saints trust will raise the money for a fans buy out..................
  11. Puncheon was far better last season under AP (one of our top assist providers I believe) than he was this season under Nigel (or Wilkins) as for the couple of games he played under AP this season he was just coming back from injury. Puncheon basically said he was unhappy under Nigel in the interview after his first Millwall game when he said it was nice to be somewhere were the manager wanted him (or words to that affect).
  12. The amount of flak Kelvin and Wotton get goes to show that isn't true, it's all our players who get given **** not just the ones who don't boot it long. Still as the players are just here for the money and will leave the moment something better comes along how much loyalty do the fans owe them anyway?
  13. Except the fans of course, the fans feel a passion for their club and they can't understand why players don't feel the same hence the upset when a player moves on. Sadly the days of MLT type players are gone, the PL saw to that in the end.
  14. I'd be suprised if we keep any of our talent if PL clubs come calling for them, we aren't in a postion to stop it (have we ever been?) the only plus side is it's now generally excepted we're not stuggling for money so hopefully we can hold out for a good price (although Oxo is young enough we will only get some poxy amount from tribunal no doubt). Lallana will be gone by the summer I'm pretty sure and oxo will be gone if Arsenel are really interested. All we can do in turn is screw over league one and two teams for their talent in turn just like we did with Dickson.
  15. That's totally wrong imo. The difference is Antonio came from non league took a while to adjust but was getting better all the time, puncheon just got worse as time went on.
  16. I still would rather have had Antiono than Puncheon but it wasn't to be. TBH Puncheon wasn't bad for us in his first dozen games or so but very inconsisent after that, so after only a couple of games at Millwall it's a bit early to decide if he is suddenly fantatstic. Maybe he wants to play for Jacket and just didn't get on with Nigel, getting on with you're boss (or not) makes a big difference to how you perform at work.
  17. or wasn't good enough for us so went to Bompey, we got Lallana from Bompey so fair trade I reckon.
  18. Interesting editing then becuase they make out they spoke to him a few days ago after a Reading match and quote him as saying he still hopes to play for us the implication being that he said that during the interview not several months ago. Either way can't see it happening.
  19. Looking around on the beeb found this little article on Murty mostly about Reading. However in one place he says he hopes to play for Southampton again. Kind of weird I thought even if he got (is) fit at 36 couldn't see him getting a game for us again considering our options at RB this season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/reading/9191794.stm Would have been interesting to see how the team would have done last season if Murty had stayed fit. He looked good for the few games he got and we might have done better with an experinced RB last season rather than geting by like we did.
  20. I tried to use the online system for the first time the other day couldn't even get on to it. My customer number didn't match my e-mail address which is strange as I was signing up and to the best of my knowledge have never given the club my e-mail adddress. In the end I gave up and just bought them from the ticket office don't think I'll bother with the online again.
  21. Bignall? he went back to Reading and then out on loan to someone else (can't remember who) never saw enough of him know if he was up to much.
  22. The problem is three of those are carrying injuries (and one possible jail time) and while Lambert and Barnard were two of the best strikers last season they doesn't mean they will be this season and currently aren't on goals scored (that would bizzarely be BWP). Lallana and Chambo are great but asking them to lead the line the way Lambert did so brillantly last season might be asking to much of them. Do you not think that given that Nigel has being saying that Lambert and Barnard have being carrying injuries for sometime and that Connolly (good as he can be) spends more time in the treatment room than on the pitch an extra loan striker might have been an idea before the window shut? you're right we have a good (and expensive) set of forwards but while three of them are carrying injuries we're thin on the ground.
  23. No he didn't the only header he won on saturday was the one that went in the goal, I said he won very little not none at all. I saw him muscled off the ball plenty of times in headers on saturday, Guly has looked good in exactly one match so far and that was Tranmere and quite frankly most players would look good against the team Tranmere put out that day.
  24. I'd say what the f ucking hell is he doing still playing at his age .
  25. huge? according to the O/S Lallana is our top assist supplier with 6 assists. In fairness Lambert has had the most shots on goal this season with 61 shots (don't know how many of those are pens and free kicks though)
