Cedric has no left foot and Ralph keeps sticking him out on the left due to a lack of options in that position right now. Every time the ball comes out to him he tries to put back onto his right and gets closed down or if he tries to use his left he just shanks it. The sooner Bertrand is back the better it would help if the back up left back didn't seem to get injured on such a regular basis I mean seriously is Matt Targett made of glass?

TBF in games like this lots of players could be in with a shout for MOTM so many played well. For me it was Bednarek was an absolute beast today won so many of his battles throwing himself into blocks and tackles.

Don't know if anyone else is heading in from Eastleigh on the train for the game ... good news its bus replacement service instead today

All of CBs look better in a three every time we try a four they get exposed. I thought the game against Leicester suited Vest going down to 10 men meant we sat deep (actually we sat pretty deep even before that) and everything was in front of him so he could just kick and head the ball away and with and no space behind him Vardy couldn't get into those one on one situations with him where he would have caused him real problems.

And yet Tadic has achieved far more both at Saints and elsewhere...

Who had already improved and was the stand out player under Hughes even before Ralph arrived.. The reason for that is Redmond took a long hard look at himself after last season and made a conscious effort to work hard and improve his game including extra training over the summer. I don't think Boufal has that sort of character.

Ralph the miracle man maybe we should get Osvaldo out of retirement, get Gaston and Juanmi back along with Boufal...Ralph is clearly trying to create a new team with a new outlook and mentality dont think we should be looking back

To much to hope for a repeat of last seasons home game probably MoPes finest hour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ly9Mqu_1io

With our defence we certainly need to play three at the back every time we go to a four we leak goals badly. We've done alright playing 3-4-3 so I wouldn't change it I think it's the ideal system for us at the moment. It would work even better if we could get some proper pace in the wingback postions. He was Birmingham's top scorer last season and Blackburn's second top scorer the season before. That was in two awful teams how's that not delivering? Whether he is good enough for us or not saying he didn't deliver for those two clubs is bollix. As for PL player I think our squad proves that's a pretty low bar these days. Is he a top six player ? Of course not. Could he be worse than Shane long or Charlie Austin? Probably not. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Yep not nearly as bad as people are trying to make out decent player for us especially given what we paid for him. But he has a season and a half left on his contract so a decent time to cash in and maybe get a younger upgrade. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Boris making his play to be next prime minster with a speech claiming Brexit can unite the country..... bit late for that I think. Still at least he is following up with the usual favorites higher wages ( made possible by getting rid of all the low paid immigrants), less taxes, more money for hospitals and public transport a post Brexit world where everything is better and costs less...got to love politicans Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Who is overrating him? I haven't seen anyone suggesting he is some mega star in the waiting. As with all youngsters the question is are they better than what we already have to merit a spot in the match day squad. Clearly Ings is first choice ( when he is fit) but after that we have Austin and Long. One who isn't suited to play the way the manager wants to play and one who couldn't score in a brothel and both have been under performing for sometime. So unless we are buying a new striker in Jan I see no problem with giving Gallagher a berth on the bench or a start ahead of Austin or Long at worse he won't score or assist but that wouldn't be any worse than playing one of the chuckle brothers. At best with a bit of regular game time he might find some form and be an improvement on the two duds. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Well Ralph might he isn't afraid to speak his mind when he thinks players aren't right for him and his style. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Saints vs Derby - FA Cup 3rd Round Replay Thread

They weren't better. Over the course of two games there wasn't anything between the the two sides. Which is why we needed pens to settle it. The main difference is we (for various reasons) never put out our strongest team and they did. In the end all that separated the teams was a Redmond missed penalty. Personally thought Johnson was the best of the lads on display he has actual pace (something lacking in our squad) and put some really good crosses into the box (certainly better than Cedric's awful efforts) I'd prefer him to Targett at wingback (but I'd rather have Bertrand over either of them). Mmm of the top of my head Glen Murray, Olivier Giroud, and Lambert and Pelle all PL strikers without an abundance of pace who managed to do alright I'm sure there are others. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

That was my view I think he won more headers last night than Austin, Long and Gabbi have managed all season. Seems to me that given that we are now going long with ball, to get it forward a lot quicker, than we have under previous managers. Someone who can win the ball in the air and bring others into play with flick ons would be a useful asset. I wouldn't be starting him ahead of a fit Ings but I'd certainly be tempted to have him on the bench ahead of Austin and Long ( assuming we don't sign some sort of super striker in jan) as a plan b Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Yes but I assumed Lemina was still unavaliable with whatever it is he actually has.. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Nah some rather well turned out nipper with well groomed hair just seemed more interested in abusing the Derby fans than watching the game. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
I'd have Gallagher on the bench over long or Austin as a plan B. Last night was the first time I've seen one of our forwards consistently win his headers in a long time he got a few flick ons that someone like Ings would probably make some good use of in the box. I was stood next to a guy who spent most of the game giving the Derby fans evil looks while constantly calling them Northern ****s under his breath seemed like he had some anger issues. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -

He was in the Itchen north right next to the away fans tall, lanky, old boy caused the Derby fans to get pretty hot under the collar Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
He was good in a poor league but that's the sort of players we go for in the hope of pulling off a find. Chances are though for every gem you do unearth you are going to have go through a big pile of rocks to find it. I guess the debate is do you keep buying cheaper options who have done well at a lower level (or been a reserve at a good level) in the hope they come good and spread your money over several positions in the squad or spend more on someone proven at the top level in one postion. It's a pretty convincing arguement that the money spent on the likes of Moi, Hoedt, Boufal, Carrillo and Gabbi etc might have been better spent on one top top striker and one quality CB ( at least until they get injuries or go on strike to get a move to Liverpool [emoji12]) Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I was told Derby put out pretty much their strongest team last night and our second string was pretty evenly matched to them. Only Vest, Armstrong, Redmond and Romeu where first choice best 11 players out there last night everyone else was back up and kids. I was surprised we did as well as we did to be honest.
