It is when the player in question has a history of injury. Its one thing to buy a 20million player and then have him get injured that's just bad luck its completely different to spunk 20 million on a player with a well publicised history of major injuries. I like Ings he's a good player but we aren't really a club who can afford to be carrying a record signing player who will give you half a season if you are lucky. (or sending them out on loan because they aren't good enough) our transfer dealing recently have seen us waste a lot of money and Ings is another example of that unless we somehow get some full seasons out of him.

Personally I'd rather none of our lot where near the England (or any international squad for that matter) at the moment. It would just be our luck to pick up an injury to an important player at vital time of the season while they where playing for their country. I'd rather they where with Ralph getting more training in the ways of Ralphball than being coached by Southgate and co. Also any time a Saints players seems to get into the England set up it usually seems to go badly for us.....

Errr wasn't he laying on the floor in crumpled heap during that attack having been kicked in the head? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I think the difference on Saturday was his passing, in the first half we could barely string two passes together. Sims had the vision to put in good forward passes into dangerous areas that actually hurt spurs.

It wasn't just the big decisions that get on my tits yesterday it was all the small stuff any kind of 50-50 decision would go spurs way. The ref seem to have different standards for both teams a number of nasty spurs tackles weren't even given yet similar fouls by us where given yellows straight away. Discussions about refs quite often end up talking about rule interpretations when all I want is to see the rules evenly implemented to both sides. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Not really I was pretty up for the Fulham game but I'm expecting a to lose this one, probably in the last minute, with a great big chunk of help from a biased ref....still going though.

others disagree with him though Clattenburg wrote in the Daily Mail: “Let’s be clear, referee Damir Skomina applied the laws as UEFA wish them to be in awarding Manchester United their late penalty in Paris. “But PSG will be furious, and I understand why. This, for me, should not have been a penalty as Presnel Kimpembe did not deliberately handle the ball. “This would never be given as a penalty in the Premier League, but it was given in the Champions League because of UEFA’s recent instruction to referees.” https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/uefa-champions-league/opinions-split-over-manchester-uniteds-last-gasp-penalty-against-psg/ar-BBUtKzF?ocid=spartandhp

Why don't Saints attack the Northam in the second half ?
doddisalegend replied to Kingsland Red's topic in The Saints
Seems like most weeks someone is dragged out of the Itchen north by stewards and or old bill for a talking to amd usually an away fan or two as well. Whether they arrest a lot of people or not they are going to want the facilities for dealing with trouble makers in the area of the ground where trouble is most likely. I think it just highlights that there is probably a lot more involved in trying to move away fans around the ground then just making them sit elsewhere. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
New rules regarding handball coming in next season seems to suggest any defender who arms aren't by his side when trying to block a shot is going to get a handball against him. "The big challenge is the position of the arm. When the arm is totally out of the body above the shoulder it should be penalised. If the defender is making the body bigger in order to block the ball it is not fair." "It is different if the defender is challenging or playing the ball and it rebounds. But if he is looking to block a cross or a shot on goal and the player is trying to spread his body then it is a handball. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47471380 Not sure if I'm in total agreement a defender sliding to block a ball on the line, for example, is hardly likely to do so with his arms by his side. He wanted to go back to the Netherlands though so while we could have got a better fee had he gone to another PL club ( which he didn't want to do) going to the Eredivisie is another matter. Tadic is the fifth most expensive signing in that leagues history. Given that Tadic had his heart set on Ajax and no where else the fee was always going to be limited. Ross Wilson - Why is he still employed by Saints?
doddisalegend replied to Dusic's topic in The Saints
You are actually expecting us to do much business in the summer? I predict another attempt to off load our under performing high earners (that no one wants) a token cheap player to try and appease Ralph and loads of PR about our great academy players stepping up... I imagine the board think wee Ross can handle that. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk -
I'd take that. It would be nice if our goal came really late as well like 90+2. Seems that I have had to spend a lot of time in recent seasons watching the opposition celebrate late winners/equalizers it would be nice to be the one doing the celebrating for a change.... That was obvious from the moment the take over first came to light most of Kats inheritance was tied up in SFC she was looking to turn it into actual cash that is all the take over was ever about. Having said that was Kat pouring in loads of money during our best days under Koeman? I doubt she was. Of course the cash is important but personally the last few years seem more down to poor recruitment decisions than lack of investment had the clowns at board level had more money to spend they would have probably just wasted it anyway.

That theory slightly falls down on two things a. We aren't in the relegation zone [emoji6] b. he was here last season and we where still crap... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

You can probably bet half those whining ( here and in the defectors watch thread) about Tadic leaving were the same ones claiming he was crap when he was here.... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Saved me some typing just because he is doing well some where else doesn't mean he would have replicated that form for us if he had stayed. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

The noisy home fans want to be near the away fans part of the noise is caused by the errr... banter ( I use the term lightly) between the two sets of fans. That couldn't happen if the all noisy home fans moved to the chapel end so it want happen. If you move the away fans I bet most of the Northem/ Itchen crowd would just move seats to be closer to the away fans so they could continue making amusing hand gestures, point out the away day ladies with STDs, or stare manfully at the away fans for 90mins. Love the bit from the BBC Tadic, almost unrecognisable from his Southampton days, produced a moment of excellence to set up Neres before seemingly putting the tie out of reach with a finish that epitomised his performance. I was always a big Tadic fan but let's face it he rarely put in performances, like last night's, when he was with us. He is having a great season with Ajax, and good on him, but I think it's a stretch to suggest if we had kept him he would have been as good for us this season playing with our current squad. He had clearly become jaded here the change of scene, playing in a confident winning side, has obviously agreed with him. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Arsenal's counter attacking abilities are probably a little bit scarier than ours though [emoji6] Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

No I'm gutted because we are in a relegation fight and came away with nothing, yet again, when we were minutes from getting something from a game, yet again. Of course there where positives to the performance but they are only really positives if we actually take that level into future games rather than falling back into our more normal level of averageness... ….but each to their own if you want to spend they day celebrating losing (again) with a little vino and some fist pumping go right ahead I'm just glad I'm not you.

We've had plenty of games the last few years were we've upped it against a big team (and some where we haven't) and still come away with **** all yesterday was hardly a new experience. The problem is every time we get one of these type of performance its usual followed up by some turd of a performance against some ****e team and turns out to be another false dawn. Games like yesterday would be more palatable if we where sitting safely mid table having managed to take more points of teams like Cardiff and Burnley as things stand I'd rather we played badly and walked away with points.
