Davis must be on significant wages to come to Southampton so surely his transfer fee is a little bit irrelevant?
-
Totally agree - none of us really know what happened or the capabilities of the coaches so it is an interesting insight.

That was really strange - I had to replay the clip to make sure i had not misheard. A bet with mates to get a random player name into the show?

I went to the Stockport vs Gillingham with an open mind on Pulis but he was slow and ponderous in possession and struggled to get in the game. He should have received a straight red card for a horrible hack from behind but was probably saved by the ref having been only on the pitch for a few minutes having replaced the previous ref who was injured. He did score with a good finish but I would have backed myself to score in that position! Hope he manages to make a career for himself at League 2 level and get to play more games than he has so far but this will not happen with Southampton.

Obviously not that short on options in midfield.

Breaking saints news - loan signing?? (Nicholas Bignall, from Reading)
DirkThunder replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I saw Bignall a couple of times for Stockport last season and was quite impressed. Certainly had a good first touch and pace to burn but struggled in a poor team and lost confidence. Could be an interesting addition and adds a different option alongside Lambert and Barnard. -

I am going to Gillingham vs Stockport on Saturday - I will report if he really does exist. -

At last - i am not alone! -
Ben Burgess is a big slow donkey - surely not a player we would want

I went to a D&R game last season as an away fan - it was a cracking day, really friendly club with a nice clubhouse that was happy to invite away fans in for a drink. Really pleased for them as their crowds are low and there is not a lot of money available to the club.

Michael Raynes is having a shocking year and most Stockport fans believe that he should be dropped despite being captain. He makes one big mistake per game - bit like a young Titus Bramble. However, he has had to play alongside a number of young CBs and might perform better with an experienced pro alongside him.

Can you go 2 hours without food or drink?
DirkThunder replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Totally agree - you would not do the same in the cinema during a film. Why go if you cant have the concentration for 45mins. -
What rubbish. Saints played ok yesterday and starting to look a good unit. They were totally on top until a poor decision by the ref. Not sure yesterday where the 'loser mentality' was displayed, i did not see it.

I saw him last season in the Southend vs Stockport game - looked a good player defensively until he got sent off for a shocking challenge in the second half. Think he took some of the Southend set pieces as well.

There are many clubs who have interested Mr Batchelor. I would like to be able to find one club forum with anything positive to say about him.

I disagree with a few of the posts here - seen a fair bit of Div 1 this year and watched some good football played by most teams. Millwall are one of the better passing teams but the play off semi final was not the best advert for thier side! There are some well organised teams who operate to the limit of tehir ability on their limited budgets. Championship is fair more rough and tumble in my opinion.

Stockport did not choose to go into administration - one of their creditors started the process. The club believed that they had found a source to inject funds into the club which has now been lost due to administration.
-
Stockport are a perfect example of why trust ownership does not work. The money generated from the trust bought the club from a very unpopular owner on what turned out to be poor terms. The previous owner still owns the ground and takes all money from match day food and drink. The trust ended up owning the club having spent all their money on its purchase but then had no means of generating income or borrowing money. With no assets, they are now desperate for a buyer.

I would not worry - Stockport are in real trouble and a facing a real battle to get out of administration. Having attended the Brighton vs County game with a mate, there was concern that there will face another -17 points for the start of next season - similiar to Bournemouth's deduction.
