  1. Do you suppose for a minute that the Swiss reps only spoke to him AFTER they took over. He had spoken to them in the interim and was clearly under the impression that he was being kept on. Now who gave him that impression? And BTW I have already indicated what I thought was a more humane approach and it did not involve any of your "suggestions"
  2. And that would be ..... Hoddle?
  3. I am pretty sure he was - 12 month rolling contract (those are the words that stuck in my mind) - about a week ago.
  4. Really? - why is this first we heard of it here?
  5. I do not disagree that the decision was right but the way it was done leaves a sour taste. The man was clearly convinced that he had a job, based presumably on things that were said to him during meetings, and then he is fired out of the blue. Sure he has his year's salary but surely a more honest approach would have been to say "We cannot guarantee anything but we will make sure you are looked after financially for holding the fort"
  6. Didn't take long for the euphoria to wear off then!
  7. He is a young player. It is in the nature of things that young players get better.
  8. I am not remotely convinced that if he had played for another club that he would have been given the opportunity to show his talent like he could with us. Far too many managers of the time valued the ability to tear-arse around the pitch more than sublime skills. For my money he would have disappeared out of sight at another club
  9. I am interested in how you think that MLT could have increased his effort and responsibilities in view of the fact that his goals almost single handedly kept us in the premiership for a number of years. I am not saying you are wrong but I would like more specific evidence as to why you are right.
  10. Ultimately the owner or his representatives will decide. We can either sulk or get on with supporting the team and I am glad to see that the latter is your option (btw I would prefer a new manager too but I am happy to see what Wotte can do given the new set of circumstances)
  11. Billy - it was a smallish number who did that and I was equally p1ssed off by some of our fans who got dragged into it and started jeering them instead of respecting the silence themselves - in my opinion that was even worse. I don't want to see any club in trouble but have no problem with seeing some of their fans taken down a peg or two.
  12. A facelift you mean?
  13. How many goals has he scored in the past two years?
  14. Any chance of making this the last b1tching thread so we can all move forward together to our bright new future (at least until we have lost some games ;-) )
  15. Given that South Today rarely put out anything before they are fairly certain of their facts, I would take it as near to proof as you are going to get. They have been in conversation with the Swiss in the background
  16. Wouldn't they be the continuation of single, double, triple,... ?
  17. I saw enough of Pearson to think him an honourable man. I don't believe that he would walk out on Leicester. Also - he has proved he can get a team out of League 1 (though not with a 10 point penalty), so why would he want to do it yet again when he has the opportunity to have a go at getting to the Premiership with Leicester? Having said that, I don't disagree that he would be a good manager - I just don't think he'll come.
  18. No comment ;-)
  19. I think that you need to be realistic with your suggestions. Personally I'd have Wenger but why would he come? Equally - why would Pearson?
  20. As always Robbie - you see what you want to see. I wanted Pearson to stay - so I could be considered a supporter of the big man. However, he was dependant on other results going our way on that last day. It could also be considered that he had a far stronger team at his disposal.
  21. Mind you having just read the thread which obviously led to this one I think that NC definitely was trolling on that ;-)
  22. By that definition it makes almost everyone on here a troll at some point. However, the m,ain definition of a troll that seems to be used on this board is "someone who expresses an opinion that is contrary to mine using much the same emotive language as I do"
  23. I think Halo's point was perhaps that some people really DO believe in the abominable snowman. It doesn't mean he actually exists
