  1. I usually find that a good indicator that the post is anything but fact.
  2. Would it be better if the stadium announcer informed people of Hartson's illness and sent good wishes on behalf of the club and all saints fans. We in our turn would applaud the sentiment. Possibly better than randomly chanting his name.
  3. I have just watched the clip and all I can say is that you must watch some f*****g good games on the common. Let us know the next time those teams are playing and we can all watch. PS on the back pass - the only reason that it was outlawed was because it was used as a deliberate time wasting tactic. No evidence of that in this clip. And nowadays Theo uses the push the ball 10 yards and then use your speed - its not so different really
  4. In my opinion great sportsmen of past eras would have been great sportsmen today too. The natural talent was clearly there and they would have benefited from the modern approach to training, diet and tactics. Best and Pele would have been footballing geniuses of any era.
  5. The point was that most of that was achieved with Poyet (2.5 points per game)- after Poyet left his record was nothing like so good.( just over 1 point per game) I therefore deduce that Wise + Poyet - good; Wise on his own .... I can think of others I'd rather have whose records will also stand scrutiny.
  6. I can - didn't someone post some hard facts and figures that demonstrated that Wise only did a fantastic Job at Leeds while Poyet was there with him. After that it was distinctly average.
  7. I'm up for it - £1 wouldn't even buy a half any more
  8. And, as it happens, the Muslim community in Luton have told the group who were the hecklers to f*** off out of Luton.
  9. Interesting how different people see different things. I never saw any lack of effort from DMG most of the time. He went through a bad phase but at his best was one of the most important players in the team. I still feel he delivered more than Saga did.
  10. .. and there is the crux. I would take odds that the first thing the new manager will do is get shot of him if he can get a taker- we do not need that attitude in the situation we are in.
  11. Irrespective of the rights or wrongs of us being in Afghanistan the fact is that young men and women went out to do a job asked of them by their government. Furthermore they did it with a great deal more courage than most of us on this board would have shown. For that alone they are worthy of support.
  12. Good try Alain - but this thread was never going to work!!
  13. Don't disagree Stanley but I cannot see that he will leave a team he has just got promoted in order to do the job all over again. It is hardly a forward looking career move - but I don't mind being wrong ;-)
  14. So not everything Lowe did was bad ;-)
  15. Each team that drops out of the premiership going bust as a result of the overspend in trying to keep themselves there?? - don't laugh - it nearly happened to us and some of the others are not too comfortable.
  16. In fairness Nick, Steve Coppell might have been considered mediocre as a manager at one point but turned that all on its head at Reading. The best managers are successful wherever they go (Ferguson, Wenger, Mourhinho for example) so I believe that we are looking for a manager with a consistent track record of not having failed as yet. I think that that forces us to look at the lower leagues to people like Tisdale because any other successful managers are already managing higher level clubs and are unlikely to want to take on a League One club - rich owner or not. Oh, and I think that that manager should have a vision for the development of the whole club - not just the first team.
  17. I do hope you meant "savage" !!! ;-). Incidently, I agree. I find it sad that some people feel that it is their express purpose in life to come on here and shred players who in reality they couldn't kiss the boots of in footballing ability. It is particularly sad when the players in question are still young and have been trying to play in a background of shambles, stress and uncertainty
  18. Because the first is clearly a racial stereotype and the second is a known fact ;-)
  19. You have clearly forgotten the three golden rules; a) Young players are instantly as good as they are ever going to be. If they ever deviate from that they are s***e b) Players must never, ever lose form. If they do they are s***e c) Players must always tear-arse around the pitch to show that they have passion. If they don't they are s***e
  20. Quite right Sue.
  21. Why does everyone thing that this is even a possibility???
  22. On what evidence?
  23. Darren - you need to get out more! ;-)
  24. Not having Hoddle back when Strachan went was a big mistake. Having him back now would be an even bigger one.
