I agree about Schneiderlin but you are being harsh on Gillett. In a couple of instances of him losing the ball it was more down to the poor passes he received than a lack of strength on the ball. Actually I thought that, for the most part, the youngsters stood up quite well to the bullying. On the other hand, while I do not rate Thomas's skills too much, he has got the strength to wrestle with the big lumps of centre-forwards we are going to encounter in this league. For me Gobern was a revelation when he came on. He got everything that came to him in the air and had a pretty sublime touch on the ground too. He is going to be a very good player. I hope we still have him after Christmas. And well done to Patterson too - he did not make life easy for their centre backs either - leaving aside his goal. Harding MoM, Kelvin excellent, Murty sound and Lloyd James sound but between them our right side is a bit lacking in pace, Lallana not as good as he was against Hearts - but OK. Saga worked hard but caught offside too often ( and falls over too easily too). A reasonable start but we need to kick on.

Did he give hand ball?. I had roughly the same eye-line as the ref on the incident and there is no way I could see if the ball had hit anyone's arm. IMO he reacted to the crowd - which is poor refereeing

Old Bull Sh!tter ;-)

I am not his biggest fan as Arizona will probably testify but he certainly wasn't sh!te. However, I do wish he would stop going to ground so easily looking for free kicks. It reduces his effectiveness and is counter-productive because the referee doesn't even give the ones where he was fouled - mind you, today's ref didn't seem to see a lot.

...and interpreting Pardew's post match interview on Solent I think that we are likely to see that happen. I think that it is clear the AP is well aware of where he needs to strengthen but he also has some uncertainties - will he have Rasiak and Saganowski or not? I would predict that we will get a CB and a strong midfielder before next Saturday. But I suspect he is waiting to see what happens on the Rasiak front before he tries to sign a big striker.

Flippin' 'eck. You need to get out more.

I'd give a thousand pounds to see you say that to one of them Lol

What would have seriously worried me would have been having no club. Methinks it is far, far to early to get worried about anything much.

Bloody mathematicians - have to reduce everything to calculus ;-)

No - he is out of contract as far as I know.

Waooooh! You are so right. Who are they by the way?

Totally tasteless US crap, Wife beater and Kangaroo Pee but at least there is a choice.

IS it? - I lived there for a couple of years a long time ago and my impression was that it was of a similar size to Southampton. I have never looked at the population figures though.

I agree - the only one to seem to be in the same class as their players. Strong on the ball too. Apart from that I was pleased with the way we played up until the hour given the quality of Ajax, but we still manage to give away comedy goals i.e. nos 2 and 3. Both were very poor goals to concede - CL opposition or not. I think that is one of the prime areas for Pardew to deal with. Agree also the KD and Mills performed

With respect Ewell's performances in terms of effort, skill and commitment were at least as good as those of your hero.

So anyone who disagrees with your opinion is an idiot. Pardon us for posting Oh mighty One.

Yes - just prior to that he had begun to show the potential that everyone said he had and then suddenly it all went wrong. Anyway I think that this thread started on a false premise and he is not seriously under consideration.

I'm happy with that. S.J. will score a hatful in this league and J.E.is more than capable of doing a job as striker or midfield (Both being on sensible money for this league I am assuming)

I don't think that anyone said you had to listen. The poster was just making people aware than LM was on. You, of course, were perfectly entitled not to listen but why you felt that you had to proclaim the fact by coming on to the thread to indulge in a long round of totally pointless arguments is beyond me. I have formed the opinion over the last couple of days that you are yet another WUM.

So, cutting to the chase, is it Strachan, or not?
