Isn't that a contradiction in terms?
-
My marks. Oh soddit give each and every one 10
-
To be fair I thought they really tried - we were just too good for them.
-
More to the point, they did not look out of place against Portsmouth.
-
I suspect Rory is a WUM.
-
Yep - the manager you haven't got is always better than the one you have.
-
Heaven forfend that DD ever admits that we were so good we made the other team look bad. Actually I think that he is just miffed that he hasn't really got anything to complain about.
-
As someone who commented negatively on the Wycombe result I accept that as very fair comment
-
Yeah - they were so cr@p that they went a goal up.
-
Well then he is just being stupid.

Pardew has assembled a team that should walk this league next year if he can keep it together - and I think he can. Us reaching the play-offs is so dependent on other teams losing the plot that it is simply unreasonable for Cortese to set that as a target for this year. If we are not firmly in the driving seat for automatic promotion by Xmas next season he might have a case.
-
We demoralised them - that is what made them look bad.
-
I don't think that they were - we were so good it made them look inept. Frankly, on a performance like that we would have made most L1 teams look bad. It was the best I have seen us play for years.
-
Answer - they all knew that when they signed HTH

I agree with most of what you are saying and, in dismissing the play-offs I think that I am being objective rather than negative. I agree that every top team has its blips - nobody can win everything. What I was trying to say, rather badly, that we seem to be continually caught out by weak teams. I did not see the game last night so I only have Solent to go by, but Merrington's verdict - usually fairly honest, in my opinion - was that most of the team lacked energy and commitment. The same was true against Exeter and Brentford. It is almost as thought they are subliminally thinking - "This should be easy, we can relax a bit." Once is unfortunate twice or three or more times seems like carelessness.
-
I am assuming now that there can be few people who truly believe that we can make the playoffs. However, with the team we have we should walk this league next year - but only if each and every one of the players realise that you have to play the weak teams with exactly the same energy and commitment as when you take on the best teams. I have to say that despite repeated lessons on this we seem to have team of slow learners.

Aren't the beginning and end of that phrase mutually contradictory ;-)
-
1. We pretty much have to win all our remaining games 2. We have to depend on a number of teams above having a significant number of losses. (at least 4 assuming we do win all our remaining games) 2 is the one that I am concerned about so my conclusion is - possible but unlikely

This time it looks like they have disguised themselves as South Africans ;-)
-
Agree 100% - and clearly so do the managers we have had in charge. Bart is a good sub - end of.
-
He's been caught out like that before. They were clever enough to disguise themselves as Arabs :-)
-
Which pretty much proves that you should disregard the opinion of every poster on this board when it comes to players ;-) (Not that that will stop us from expressing such opinions)

I know that they are not the brightest buttons on the planet but surely SOME of them must have wondered why Mandaric got out. SOME of them must have wondered where the money to fund players such as Campbell and Crouch came from. But no they were happy to cheer at the FA Cup that was bought for them and would have screamed at Gaydamak for lacking ambition if he had cut back on the whole merry jamboree. I have sympathy for some of the more sensible Skates of my acquaintance but for the bulk of them - not a jot.

Feeling better now?
