I think that in some of his "misplaced" passes the target of the pass was simply not on the same wavelength as Lemina. I can think of one clear case where he passed into a space that someone should have been running into and the ball wass given away. I thought that we looked much more solid with him and Romeu in the midddle. I like Davis a lot but a DM he isn't. I also liked that fact that Lemina always seemed available for a pass and that he dropped into the CB position if the CB went forward. I think that he will evolve into our replacement for Wanyama.

True, but there is a difference between "Hello - Saints here, Would you be interested in playing for us - pay negotiable. You would? Right, we'll contact your club" and Liverpool's approach of conducting detailed negotiations right down to the transfer fee - bragging about it in the media without at any point contacting us. We were presented with a fait accomplis which effectively shut down our ability to negotiate with any other club. I am now all for letting VVD go - but to anyone but Liverpool.

Yes - but don't you think that the people who labelled him a dickhead probably had no concept that he was suffering from the mental illness which was leading him to that behaviour. And may I say that, as someone who claims to know a lot of people with mental illness, you demonstrate a profound lack of understanding of it. He deserves praise for speaking out about his problems which is the first step to recovery. I wish him well.

Don't worry - Alps will come up with something!

Being a massive hypocrite is one of the attributes of a football fan.

We have been on an upward trajectory for a few years now, all of them under Les Read. It was bound to level off at some point - so what leads to your lack of faith?

People who wear Saints blinkers will be unaware of his huge contribution to the progress that NI have made recently. Mind you on that basis Michael O'Neil should get a knighthood.

I think that it is the fans that fall apart each summer!

Players a bit worried with where the club are heading !?

I bet that that spoiled his day! -
This in spades.

If he only conceded 20 goals a season that wouldn't be too bad
-
On the contrary - I think that he has given very explicit reasons why he is not naming names. You may be happy to risk someone else's job - Eric is not. I am with him on that.

Two points - is he REALLY the best English Left back - there is serious competition for that role. Secondly - I don't get the impression that Southgate is overly concerned with who a player plays for if they are good enough.

This was a typical blinkered comment that was made about him at the time by a number of fans who did not seem to understand his role. All his managers had him first on the team sheet which shows how much the knockers knew. He was a class player. Even under pressure he could make it seem that he had all the time in the world. And for those who thought he did not tackle enough his stats were that he came away from 50:50s with the ball just under 80% of the time. It was all about timing the steal of the ball with him. When we,stupidly, let him go there was no shortage of suitors. For me he was a genuine unsung hero. Good luck in retirement Matt.

Why? No one else does As to Ranieri - I think that it is becoming clear that Leicester's success had a large part to do with the assistants he had, but I take the point of the post above regarding his overall record. Not for me though.

Really? http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/saints-reportedly-keeping-track-of-ranieri/ar-BBB0nvI?li=AA572I&ocid=spartandhp

I thought that it was an entertaining game and that we played well up till the final ball which was too often slightly misplaced or intercepted.
-
Not even that anymore.
-
But he is not involved with the playing side. Why should it matter?
-
When would the timing not be strange?

Liverpool 0-0 Saints - Match & Reactions Thread

Automatic choice for Poch, ditto Koeman, ditto Puell - three quite different managers. Pardon me if I accept their opinion ahead of yours. The constant repetition of the same rubbish about Davis does not become more true from constant repetition and is just tiresome. We know your opinion - now give it a rest -
Thanks for telling me what I think but 1984 is long past.

But aren't you just highlighting what the real problem has been - strikers who failed to strike. We created lots of chances (or opportunities as Claude calls them) but not converted them. SO he is doing something right
