I think that it is perfectly reasonable to ignore the league level you are at. Lets face it, you acquire players appropriate for the level you are at and get them to perform for the level you are at. A 100% record at league one with league one players is just as good an achievement as a 100% record in the premiership with premiership players.

Referring to the quality of our squad GP said that if he managed saints he would not take his years salary if he could not get us promoted. It was not a pitch for the job - simply a comment on how he viewed our squad. That said we could do a lot worse than him but I doubt if he would leave Brighton.

Unlikely to happen I know, but I think that Gus Poyet could tick a lot of boxes from NC's point of view. I have also heard that he said that if he were managing Southampton he wouldn't take his salary if we were not promoted. He was not angling for the job - more commenting on the circumstances.
