Because he is a player who can keep possession and lay off a pass even under pressure and because our midfield looks a shambles without him -incapable of stringing two passes and often leaving the defence with no outlet when they (the defence) have possession so they end up hoofing it. Yes - I agree that his goal scoring record is woeful but with others scoring we can live with that.

I am always interested in the views of other fans provided that they are not being WUMs. The rules should allow sensible posts or genuinely humerous banter. It would be a sad day when we can't take a joke against ourselves.

Why? NC is a tough negotiator and won't be held to ransom for more than a player is worth. Antonio is a case in point - we wanted to buy him but not at the price that Reading wanted. If Reading are prepared to let Howard go then clearly his value to them cannot be considered that great, nevertheless they are trying to screw as much money as they can for him. Hasn't it occurred to any of the moaners on here that the reason why aap3 want to sponsor us is precisely because they want to put their name out there. I hadn't heard of them even though they are clearly of a significant size. Few people have heard of my current company nor my previous company although both are huge. Had anybody heard of Cornhill before they sponsored the cricket?, yet there were a significantly sized Insurance Company. Sponsorship, at its best, is a big benefit to both participants.

I would be careful of waving statistics about based on a sample of 4. Quite frankly, in the match against Yeovil I thought we won inspite of the midfield - not because of them. If Yeovil had any finishing ability that match could have gone differently. In the first half especially I thought that there was no flow through the midfield or coherence from them.

You are quite right - you are entitled to your view. Its just that the rationale you use to support it is not very convincing - to me at least.

I agree - the only thing that was convincing last night was the score. It worries me that taking Lallana out of the side would make us look very average. Any inspiration that there was was coming from him. And I am sorry Derry and co - without Schneiderlin our midfield looks a bloody shambles.

Sadly there are far too many of our fans who see what a player doesn't do rather than what he does do.They all have weaknesses and some people like to concentrate on those rather than their strengths. In the course of a match they all make mistakes but if fans get on their back it only makes it worse.
