Its what they do! TBH - If Koemen is picking him then its because he thinks that he can do whatever role he is asking him to fulfil better than anyone else available. However, I am pleased to see him play with much more aggression today. That is what was missing from his game.

I believe that Toby WAS coming to us but we made the ultra naive assumption that a contract in football is worth the paper it is written on, faffed about over it, and then watched Spurs walk in and take him from under our noses. Nope - the club regally screwed up over this one and I am not blaming Toby for that.

Did anyone else notice that for the first goal our players all seemed to race to take up their defensive positions it did not occur to any of them to get in close to the man with the ball? He was completely free to launch that cross. Now THAT is where Targett was probably at fault.

Last week Merrington was repeatedly pointing out that Targett was getting little cover from JRod and he was getting equally little cover from Shane Long this week. He pulled off one brilliant piece of defending in our box in the first half which shows what he is capable of. He has yet to develop the consistency that will make him a top player - but it is far to early to condemn him.

I agree. He has been brought in as back up and did a good job on the whole. It was noticeable that he dropped back to fill the gap when Jose went forward. He is not better than Soares but he is a decent stand in. I had an impression that he may be more of a CB that a RB. Juanmi impressed me a lot. I thought that he and JWP were virtually running the game. I am not convinced that Caulker is better than Yoshi but I think that there will be plenty of game time for both if we get pass Vitesse
