  1. I suspect that the turnover would be just as rapid were you in charge since nothing short of perfection seems to be right for you - and even then you would probably find something to have a go about.
  2. I agree
  3. Not fair. Kachloul played his heart out for us while he was here but decided to move for the big bucks. He might have sold Villa short, but not us.

    Kelvin

The keeper can scarcely control midfielders who just weren't there to do their defensive job, or fullbacks who were too far up the field to have any role in defence
  5. Definitely the worst performance I have seen so far and for me the penalty was a metaphor for the rest the game - ill disciplined. The defence was too often a mess because the midfield were so intent on getting forward that they completely disregarded their defensive responsibilities. Gillett was as busy as always but gave he ball away far too often and I was left with the feeling - especially in the second half - that today's game , as the third in eight days, was one game too many him and some of the others. I think that the best way to look at today is that it was a sharp reminder that this division contains teams like Blackpool with big men who can play a bit and that they are just going to have to learn how to cope with it.
  6. Their choice - and their loss.

    Woodward

The reference to the Lions tour completely misses the point about Woodward. His influence tends to be medium to long term - not a 4 week jaunt. Oh, and it didn't help that the Allblacks took out the Lion's most dangerous player within 5 minutes of the 1st game a with a piece of outrageous foul play that should had the perpetrators banned for a month but instead went completely unpunished.
  8. To be fair, how many fans were on the forums of the time complaining bitterly about either Redknapp's or Burley's appointment? Very few as I recall. It could be argued that while some of Lowe's bad decisions were disagreed with by fans (Wigley) others were things that fans were happy for him to do. (Not that I am arguing that he did them BECAUSE fans wanted him to do it, it is more that what seemed like good decisions, even to the fans, turned out to be poor ones) This merely proves how difficult the whole business of being chairman is - as Wild and Crouch discovered. This is why I have no part in slagging off Lowe and had no part in slagging off Wilde or Crouch either. It is the easiest thing in world to make decisions behind the anonimity of a keyboard when you never have to answer for it. Not that I have a problem with people expressing opinions - it is the bile and vitriol I dislike.
  9. Have you ever read ANY fans forum and seen unity!!!?? I would not construe much from cyber-ramblings.
  10. I agree with much of what you say. My only concern is that JP's style is a high energy, highly mobile approach and that does not really describe Rudi. But, if he is not sold then I believe there is still a role for him - if he wants to adapt.
  11. Agree 110.... no... 200%. I was a little upset that Pearson was not retained, but after what I have seen in pre-season and in the first league games I would be outraged if JP was not given the opportunity to see his revolution through. Quite simply I have never seen us play such good footbal and seems that today we finally turned it into a result. We can only get better.
  12. I seem to remember that we were going to appoint them before we appointed Burley. Perhaps if he had done he would never have been thrown out.
  13. I think that you are being told to enjoy the day and save the pessimism for when it is warranted.
  14. And their reaction during the game http://forums.thisis.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=15170&tstart=1
  15. What do you suppose he would have done?
  16. Is not that the fundamental reason why Lowe came back?
  17. Two points - First, yes, James struggled yesterday, but to be honest their left winger is going to cause a lot of fullbacks problems this year. Second - I am not sure that I agree with you about Surman. I think that his runs forward caused Birmingham a lot of problems yesterday. He is still learning defensively but he is no worse in that regard than Bale was.
  18. So what you are saying is that a much more experienced team on much higher wages played as well as yesterday's young inexperienced team and lost by a similar margin, therefore we are heading for disaster this year?
  19. And of the course the fact that they were under par had nothing to do with us in any way.
  20. not sell best players = administration
  21. Do you seriously think that anything different would have happened had Crouch still been in charge. I don't think that a lot of people have fully grasped yet that it is the bank that is calling the shots.
  22. I agree.
  23. Nick, just accept that there is an element on here whose prejudice against Davis is such that they are incapable of assessing his performance with any level of objectivity. He did nothing wrong today and could have done nothing about the two goals. Others must be held responsible for those. Davis is, at the moment, the best keeper that we have but it is depressing that people still feel the need to keep sniping at him because he is not Richard Wright.
  24. Morale will only sink if fans get on their backs. What was encouraging today was the applause that the team got at the end from the fans who clearly recognised the positives. The youngsters today went toe to toe with a good Birmingham side and the result could have gone either way. We made as many clear cut chances as they did but the difference was that they took two of theirs and we took only one of ours. Far too early to be pressing panic buttons.
