  1. Its not far off.
  2. Matty, I think that, as the law stands, the club would be acting illegally by providing a smoking area within the ground although I am happy to be corrected. This means that they could only provide areas outside the ground - but if you leave the ground you cannot be readmitted - catch 22 and all that. I don't know whether the last rule is an SFC rule, an FA rule or the law. Perhaps someone could clear that up.
  3. I agree - I have wished for that as well at times ;-)
  4. That is exactly how I saw it.
  5. Will you apologise for calling people c**ts if you turn out to be wrong? I gather from one of the other threads that Surman has shown one of our posters the scar on his leg and Lallana is heavily strapped.
  6. What f*****g game were you watching? McGoldrick was outstanding today. Fully deserved his goal. A well judged forward run more than matched by an absolute peach of a pass from from McLaggan. He will score more goals if he gets that kind of service.
  7. Have you a shred of real evidence for any of this - or is it just repeating stuff posted on here - in which case pardon me for treating it with a certain amount of scepticism?
  8. I have said that in all fairness any manager should have until at least Christmas to prove himself. At the time I was fairly confident that as the kids gained experience and as Jan himself gained experience of the Championship that things would turn and our results would start to improve. That has simply not proved to be the case. The defence are still making the same errors as they did at the start of the season and on top of that the forwards and midfield seem to have forgotten that the point of the game is to score goals. Something has to change and at the moment I think that immediate responsibility has to rest with the manager. Whether Lowe was right or wrong in his decision to appoint him, I happen to believe that with a couple of decent centre backs, this team could do quite well but, as it is, they seem to have completely lost what confidence that they had. I am seriously worried about Sunday.

  10. Did you try the Midnight Bell - a crackingly good strong mild. Good from the cask or the bottle.
  11. If I remember rightly Rupes had a confrontation in a public place with some guy or other because the formal offer to buy the shares had never actually been made as promised.
  12. In your dreams. 20-60 perhaps - and they are all on this forum!!
  13. You are, of course, quite right - there is more than one way to skin a cat but at the outset you have to decide what approach you are going to take. Lowe has set his stall out with the youngsters and chosen a coach who he thought was right for that philosophy. Rightly or wrongly that is the path he chose and he has to give it time. I still think that it is too early to say that it has failed and we are basically in no worse a position than we were last year. The trouble is that people's view of this is quite definitely coloured by their view of Lowe. The antis were never ever going to believe in it - the pros are -mostly - happy enough with it and there are others like myself who like the experiment but are still more than happy to see Lowe go - but only if replaced by a serious investor, not in yet another round of musical chairs.
  14. Yep - on a par with Giggsy and Becks
  15. I just love the way that people come on here rubbishing our best players. Sadly you will only realise how good they are when they are playing for someone else. As to judging Surman on his tackling! Oakley rarely tackled as such, but the figures showed that he came away from 50/50s with the ball 75% of the time. Timing is far more important than tackling for a midfielder.
  16. That's an area that SCW would have addressed - but I forgot - he has nothing to offer to football,
  17. Absolutely - we play as though we are frightened of losing the ball if we try something that would catch the opposition on the hop. CP showed last night that you do not need to dominate possession to win - you simply need to break fast and get into the danger area before the opposition regroup. We have the players with the skill and nous to do it. They just have to lose some of their fear of giving up possession.
  18. Wednesday finally got their asses in gear but still did not seriously threaten. I had to leave early today (80 mins) and left pretty convinced that if Wednesday played until Wednesday they still would not score. Clearly I was wrong but if the score is only 1-0 you are still vulnerable. I remain puzzled as to why a team that is still learning when to play pretty and when to be direct is being condemned when they are no worse that last year's "experienced" and far better paid team.
  19. Frankly I am sick of people like you who are completely obsessed by Lowe who automatically assume that anyone who does not share your obsession as being a "Luvvie". NickH was expressing something that I agree with - that I enjoy watching this team a hell of a lot more than last year's overpaid bunch of underperformers. And their results are not any worse. Personally, I support the team - not the bloody boardroom.
  20. No, it proves only that there are more negative posters -they may be right or they may be wrong but their greater number does not actually prove anything? Sorry to be a pedant.
  21. Is this an IMHO is better than your IMHO argument? ;-) Sorry -I could have equally aimed this at John B
  22. For once Stanley - and very sadly - I agree with you :-(
  23. And I absolutely respect your principles with regard to that even if I do not agree with you. My comment was targeted at those who SAY that they are avoiding St Mary's because of Lowe but will somehow find it possible to go to a glamorous cup tie. But I also suspect that those who do go will not admit to it.
  24. No - its the I'm a man of principle until suddenly my principles might mean that I miss a mouth-watering match. To those that stand by it then hats off to them even though I disagree with them. Those who don't are being hypocrites. And by the way - this is my last reply to you. I refuse to get involved in one of those endless threads where your replies become more and more convoluted until I completely lose the point of them.
