We've tried that!

Our new midfield??

SOG - I often agree with your opinions but in this I think you are wrong. a) There is no harm in a bit of nostalgia - especially when things ain't going so good. But b) a country (replace that with Club) that does not learn from its history is destined to repeat all the same mistakes.

Thanks Charlie - you've made my weekend :-(

Only a rumour, but it would be nice...........

Is it lots of different colours? -
players not as fit as bournemouth players?
St_Tel49 replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
No he ran up Sand DUNES. Running on flat sand is completely wrong for the gait of a middle distance runner but running up sand dunes has multiple benefits. The main ones are that it develops leg strength, which improves speed rather than endurance, it raises heart rates to very high levels and it is highly anaerobic which develops lactic acid tolerance and recovery. Steve Ovett used it to great effect too. Sand Dunes would be beneficial to footballers. I am not convinced that running on flat sand would be that useful. -
EBC refused to sanction the shops, cinema, hotel etc so they would never have been built anyway - so we would have a 25000 seater stadium rather than a 32000 seater and still had to fund it without the surrounding retail area. So the "facts" in the post are simply wrong except that Lowe did p i s s off EBC because he insisted on the necessity of the retail development as well as the stadium.

To be fair Adrian , I have not really heard the crowd get on their back, in fact any nice bit of work by our players gets applauded. Maybe sometimes there is a reaction when someone makes a mistake but that is just the usual frustration when any player makes a mistake at any time (they are not allowed errors you know ;-) )

what happened to "Surman and Lallana off as soon as window opens"

As usual - when backed into a corner you start nit picking. Plenty of people made that statement inspite of your denials. -

Now guys - you are just not taking this thread seriously are you? It will be Friday I tell you ;-) -
How many times must opposing fans have gone away from games at St Mary's thinking that. Just for once it's nice for the boot to be on the other foot. Enjoy it!
-
I'll bet you would have sold Kenwynne Jones for 500k
-
Mods - can we have special thread that only Stanley can post on. It will soon build up to about 500 but we will only need to read the first one because they will all say exactly the same.

Rudi: Too many youngsters playing and I want away
St_Tel49 replied to Big Ron fan's topic in The Saints
I thought he played well - but when he came over to applaud the Northam/ Kingsland it looked to me as though he was saying goodbye - pity. -
I too thought he did OK - certainly not badly enough to warrant the slating on here. I fear, judging from the comments post match, that many fans have quite unrealistic expectations given our current circumstances. I thought that the Man U team radiated class in away that not many teams I have ever seen at St Mary's showed. Perhaps Arsenal 5 seasons ago but no others.
-
Its a rhetorical question - of course he would stay in that scenario and he would be mad not to.The reality is that he had a choice of two teams in the pooh but one being managed by his old reserve team boss. Different situation and pointless comparison.

At last - a flash of honesty ;-)

I agree that if Crouch/ Pearson had continued then we probably would have been in a better position but, as you imply, that is speculation. It is also water under the bridge. For my part, I am not convinced that yet another interchange in regime is necessarily a good thing - it really needs a complete clean sweep which I fear is not going to happen. In answer to RinNY's comments it was WGS in his autobiography who said quite unambiguously that it was Lowe who signed Niemi. Strachan wanted some Czech guy (not Cech!!). I suspect that if Lowe had a strong recommendation from one of the scouts he would go with it - not always with the manager's agreement - and he has been right as often as he has been wrong - or as the anti-Lowes would prefer to put it - wrong as often as he has been right. ;-)

Calvin Davies: Strong rumour of loan deal to Plymouth

I heard that he was pants ;-) -
On current season's form you might be on your own with regard to that opinion.

This thread is surreal!!

Unfortunately there is a significant element of the jury on here that are happy to condemn without trial.

Just tottered back from my local. Can I also wish each and every Saints supporter a Happy New Year - including those I disagree with. I know we all have Saints best interests at heart ;-)

They don't need him. They already have two big pretty useful centre backs
