  1. Agreed. It still hurts when I think about whats gone on to such an honorable bloke as Adkins and how it reflects on our club. I guess he will be hansomely paid off with 2.5 years of his contract remaining. It just pains me to know that he will be going to go to another club and do a great job. I hope, as a sweetener we get a really good surprise signing. Lets hope MP has been doing his homework well.
  2. Yeah, think I noticed that in someone elses post. I'm guessing the "Scouting" that has gone on since November has been through MP and probably our new backroom staff!?!
  3. Wow, thats doesn't surprise me. When listening to the Solent Interview after the Chelsea draw, some of Nigels answers were interesting at times. Yes, he gave little away as normal, but there was a sense that he knew more was going on behind his back regarding signings (obviously already accustomed to it with Cortese and Les Reed). Interesting he mentioned about having a massive scouting network now. Probably MP and his backroom staff getting their research in.
  4. Some interesting stuff on some of the Espanyol Football forums http://www.fuerzaperica.com (sorry, i'm not that good at doing links). It looks like this was known in spain from at least Wednesday 16th. There were reports/rumors on there that we have a 10Euro bid in with Milan for Coutinho which backs up some earlier reports on our forum.

  6. I'd guessed it wouldn't be much. I couldn't remember what sort of deal we had with Reading. Reading seem to be doing some good business so far.
  7. According to SkySports, it looks like Joseph Mills is on his way from Reading to Burnley. Does anyone know if we are due a slice of the Fee from the deal we done with Reading?
  8. My sister treated him in Winchester A&E after it happened. I must admit I always remembered it as his toes! I think he hit something, then went to check his mower without turning off properly..... or so the story goes
  9. His agent is Alexander Bursac. Does anyone know much about him? I'm guessing now Saints and Vitesse have agreed a price, Mr Bursac is probably trying to broker a last minute deal with QPR or Werder Bremen to try and make Saints offer a better contract??
  10. My names Mike and i'm 36. Born in Southampton to a Southampton Mum and my Dad from Motihari, India. My dad come over in the early 50's and loved Southampton so much he made it his new home and married a Southampton lass (my mum). In my life time we lived in Harefield, I went to Woodlands (formerly Moorhill). When I was just 1 years old, my dad lofted me on his shoulders to see the Bus come around with the Cup, to the bottom of Harefield in 76 (too young to remember that). Think I must have got hooked then Sadly my Dad passed away when I was 5 but I remember from around 81/82 but probably properly started following in the late McMenemy days and then Chris Nicholl. One of my earliest true memories was Everton Saints Semi Final at Highbury. For the last 6 years, I'm now living in the smelly side of Hampshire in Gosport. Married a Gosport girl who I've now converted to being a Saint. Looking to move back to Southampton in the future.
  11. I don't post on here much and don't always like or agree with a number of Alpines posts but I to think this should be some how remembered by the club, even if its a small gesture. Personally I feel because our cities massive maritime history. Yes, we were bombed very heavily during WW2 but I think this has been recognised in some capacity before.
  12. Yeah I think its a good way for the club to get involved with the city. As many of us on here had relatives. My Great Uncle was one of the stokers and unfortunately one of the first to die, trying to help the ship in the engine rooms.
  13. I think there is some pressure that they have to be seen making a route for some of the youngsters i.e. Luke Shaw at Left Back in preference to Ryan Dickson (well that and the fact we pay an extra £25k per 10 games for his for his first 40 games). Jack Stephens at Right Back instead of Butterfield and De Ridder/Ben Reeves perhaps for Holmes. I really like Holmes and don't really want to see him go but I really think he needs a fresh move to get his career back on track.
  14. I believe Chaplow tweeted that he was hoping to get back near the end of the month.
  15. I feel sorry for Lee. Yes, he has obviously had his injury problems but has never had a real chance since getting back from his main injury. Trouble is, he was brought in by Lowe and the Dutch guys. Personally I think he needs to do himself a favour and try to get a loan move or a permanent move. I feel he could still do a job in the Championship and certainly League 1.
  16. Well done Bart. I'd like to see him get some game time on loan, but can we risk him going out on loan?
  17. Happy Birthday Guly
  18. I agree with most of what you said. I think we've got to give Guly a bit of credit. He has been played in a fair few different positions and not kicked up a fuss. Also in his time with us, he has managed to stay fit and has hardly been injured. I believe he has done a pretty good job on the right. I agree he was quite frustrating against Reading and doesn't always look naturally at home on the right, but he has done a good job for the team. I'm sure when he was given a run last season, just behind lambert he chipped in with quite a run of goals.
  19. Thx guys. Good questions and certainly bringing up some memories from that time.
  20. I know he's not everyone favourite and perhaps is a bit unpredictable. I think he makes great runs inside which create more space for the front men and runners from midfield to exploit. In a tough tight game today he made the difference.
  21. Old boy Kevin Phillips scoring a Brace for Blackpool against Brighton to make it even better
  22. Good to see Guly off the mark today
  23. Good to see Brighton throw away a 2-0 lead to only draw 2-2 at home to Blackpool. Derby keeping up with Saints.
  24. Agreed. Personally I think he has done really well, but not getting as much of the credit. I like to see his understanding with Richardson get better, but that will come with games. Its good to have players like De Ridder eager to stake a claim for his position but I think Guly can't be dropped at the moment. Like most Saints fans, I would love to see De Ridder play but I think it he needs a few more games or so, to settle in. Would love to see Guly get off the mark on Saturday against Millwall.
  25. Looks like he is getting thumped in the head!
