You could just buy a friend a router with a built in vpn and then connect to that when you're away. Whenever i'm away I just connect to my work VPN and it works fine that way.

The motivation in a pre-season friendly is certainly not the same as a league game, no matter how professional the squad may attempt to be. It's the same every season that we lose against much lower teams or dont perform. These are friendlies after all.
