Should saints break the bank in the summer for a striker ?
toofarnorth replied to killer fan's topic in The Saints
He's not getting too much of a chance though. My be a reason I suppose, but on a free or very cheap would be less of a gamble than another Osvaldo type. But yeah, could be ****e. -
Since when have chairman needed to be from a football background. Liverpool are doing ok. Let this guy run the business and mo po and Les Reed can concentrate on the football decisions. Seems like a fine idea to me.

Bit left field, but if he's going cheap at the end of the season Darren Bent might be a shout. Obviously only if he's very cheap. Can see him getting quite a few goals, but still being lambasted by fans for not working hard enough though. Bit like Rasiak. -
Wasn't angry at the time. Still think the team he put out was easily good enough to win. Players fault, not Pochetinos.
-
Nor does Ashley Cole and he's done OK.
-
But obviously I'd much rather we weren't in this situation.

As long as this all quietens down in a couple of weeks and business as usual is maintained then the fuss will have been for nothing. Most of our players are at about the right level so we may lose Shaw and Osvaldo may clear off, but I don't foresee an exodus. Even if the manager goes, at least we are now hopefully in a position of safety this year giving plenty of time for planning for the future.

Olivia hey. Did you not consider Rickie, Adam or Morgan? Middle name maybe ;-) Many congrats

I like boxing day football

Interesting that Pochettino said that we don't sign any players without his say so. Seems he has more control on transfers than AVB did at Spurs.

I hope not. I've just moved to the North West. I do however think with HS2 planned that will reduce journey times to the capital, expansion at Airports such as Birmingham and Manchester should be looked at more closely. I know they are not hub airports, but lots of people from the North seem to needlessly travel to Heathrow for long haul flights when more could and should be flying from northern airports. Many people have said that HS2 should be shelved and better West -East links established, but it's not easy because of the Pennines. Would definitely help though if these links can be improved.

I agree with this. Schneiderlin is my first name on the team sheet every time.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Manchester City

Was great to see Cork play superbly after the criticism he received on Wednesday. He looked to have so much time on the ball in the centre and seemed to have a great range of passes. People seemed to be a but quick to forget his performances of last season, but that was class. An all round great performance given our injuries and if only one of the four players that cross evaded could have got a foot on it we would have had a deserved three points. Still above Man United, so lots to be happy about. -
I'd play him and give him a chance it what is likely a lost cause of a game anyway. Drop Lallana back into centre midfield with Cork. We'll lose lallana's attacking threat a bit, but we have no better player on the ball than him.
-
I think some people got a bit overexcited, but some in the media didn't help. If we managed to stay top 10 it would be a great season and we should be looking to push on the season after. Think we can all agree we are light on quality outside our first 11 and a couple of others, so we'll be hit by injuries pretty hard.
-
I think we can see his English is getting better. He corrected the interpreter to say disappointed, not frustrated about the Arsenal game.
-
With Walker no injured, cant understand it if Roy doesn't call up Clyne.
-
The defence + GK really. Would play Yoshida over Hoiveld if Lovren or Fonte were injured, but that doesn't seem to be MP's favoured option. Have a lot of faith in Chambers, but left back is a worry. I actually rate KD higher than most so wouldn't be a disaster if Boruc missed a couple, but long term injury would not be ideal. We have good depth in midfield with Cork & Davis on the bench and up front ramirez should be able to cover AL and JR, similarly if one of Rickie or Osvaldo gets injured we are pretty good with one striker.
-
Just been announced that Wellbeck is out of both games. Could mean J-rod gets a start against Chile as you say.
-
Hodgson has just said that Clyne has been in his thoughts. Little consolation I know, but shows he's really knocking on the door.
-
Fonte or Lovren should have got their head on it IMO

In three months someone will drag up this thread and say how stupid you were. Maybe ;-)

How long can roy ignore our other English players?

And what about Jose being overlooked by Portugal! -
Someone mentioned on the radio yesterday that the cost of getting your coaching badges - above the first couple - in the UK is really prohibitive. I wonder if there is greater access at an affordable level to coaching qualifications overseas.
