If it is Puma it will be horrible, as Newcastle fans will confirm
-
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Admiral having a third go with Saints.
-
Lonsdale had a go at football kits for teams like Blackburn, Birmingham City and Sunderland around 2005. The designs were awful and it didn't go well.

Yes I thought he wasn't his useful outstanding self yesterday. Although still better than every other RB in the division. Was it down to not playing last week?
-
I do rate Alcaraz, but he hasn't really impressed this season. He actually looked a lot better last season. Might be best for him to move on. But would we get back the £12million we paid for him?
-
We absolutely must not allow keeping away fans in after the game to be seen as a norm again. It was a blight on away travel in the 1980s. It was so annoying being kept back in Goodison Park that didn't start emptying at all until the Liverpool score was announced.

Puma will be a disaster. Their designers are terrible

I always thought Lawrie was appointed as assistant manager. But having looked back at the records, from the moment he joined us he was "Team Manager Designate".
-
Exactly. At the time the ground was being designed the Police made the positioning of the away fans there a deal breaker (according to Andrew Cowan).

When is the home game against Hull likely to be played? Do we have the rule that used to be applied that a rearranged game has to be at the first possible opportunity - which would be the week of January 22nd since Hull's replay is the week of January 15? Or could it go back a few weeks?

You can guarantee that Arsenal or Liverpool will get Maidstone

When 606 started it was about all of football and the genius of Danny Baker was that he made it about the callers. No it is just about the Premier League and Savage. But I would much rather listen to it on my two hour drive home than live coverage of a game.

The only player we have who is attractive to a Premier League team at a level where they might be concerned about his availability for the FA Cup is KWP. But I think he needs to be left out anyway for a rest after the constant battering he gets. The cup is so low priority for us that it isn't an issue for any player we might bring in. I am a rugged traditionalist, but even I feel the cup-tied rule is a needless hangover from the Victorian era.
-
Stern John though did a good job, scoring 19 goals that kept us up. Not sure what he cost. Probably not much as he was makeweight in the £6 million deal that took Kenwayne Jones to Sunderland.
-
I really want us to get through this tie. But it has a downside, because unlike for the Premier League clubs the date for the 4th round is not kept clear. So our home game against Hull becomes another midweek fixture. Although Hull are likely to go through anyway.
-
But the FA Cup finals since 2000 have not been totally dominated by the massive teams. Losing finalists have included minor Premier League sides such as Saints, West Ham, Everton, Portsmouth, Stoke, Hull, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Watford. Having got to the final they did have a chance of winning (ok Watford didn't). While since West Ham won the FA Cup as a second division side in 1980 there have been only four finalists from the second division - QPR, Sunderland, Millwall and Cardiff. Our chance of winning silverware as a Premier League side would be better than the zero it is in the Championship.
-
My response to this is - do you want to see Saints win a cup? Because that is a near enough impossible as a Championship side. But in our last stay in the Premier League we lost a League cup final narrowly and went to two FA Cup semi-finals that we didn't bother to turn up for. Even the poorest Saints side I have ever seen still made a League cup semi last season.

Repeating another manufacturer's design wasn't an issue in 2017-18 when Under Armour "updated" the Keegan era kit. I doubt that the basic shirt design can be subject to copyright. And Pony's blue and yellow striped away kit of 95-97 featured a candy striped look. Where copyright might be an issue would be in reusing the Pony kit of 93-95 since it is based around the company's tick logo, although Pony might not be bothered since they got out of football kit long ago. Maybe it could be redone with the Hummel chevron? Whatever happens I really would not want Puma to make our kit. They have the worst designers in the business, as you can judge just by looking at the awful kits they produced for Newcastle. I would think that Macron might be a likely candidate.

A real tribute to 89-91 needs striped raglan sleeves.
-
My guess is that the homage to our 87-89 kit will be followed by a tribute to the 89-91 design. If not I could see something based on the Admiral 76-80 candy stripes.
-
And our first double of the season!
-
Howe wasn't as good as usual in applying his tried and trusted tactic of petty fouls and players going down injured to disrupt the flow of the game. Bit concerned that with Tripper clearly having lost it they will be looking for a new right back
-
Would be devastated to see KWP go. But he deserves better than us. Ings on a loan would be relatively low risk.

Staying unbeaten will not be a bad result. Away at Coventry has historically been a tricky fixture, even if we did win our last league game at the stadium formerly known as the Ricoh Arena. I am desperate for a good result as the day after I will be sitting down to Christmas Dinner with lots of Coventry fans.
