However that wasn't Shearer's debut. Although it was his first start.

If the away kit is grey and yellow I can't see any teams where we would need to wear a white third kit.

Mitrovic has been relegated twice now with different teams. Could be the new Dean Saunders

I have a load of Saints VHS videos to dispose of including season reviews from 88/89 up to 2004/5 as well as MLT's Unbelievable, the 76 cup final and many others. Also lots of general videos such as 25 years of MOTD. Don't want anything for them, just prefer them not to end up in landfill. Could drop off in Southampton before a game.

Yes earlier this season Valery got a yellow for time wasting over a throw. When the cause of his delay was because no one came to give him an option. It's basic stuff. And well I don't advocate Pulis/Delap tactics, someone who can take a long throw would be useful.

Redmond was with Norwich for relegation in 2013/14 and 2015/16

FA Cup replays that went on until a winner was found.

Yes it is a shame the footage seems to have gone missing. My memory is of standing outside the ground trying without success to give a spare ticket away. Also got my Renault 4 stuck in the snow in the carpark - pushed out by Leeds fans who didn't know what team I supported.
-
Yes I went to both the tournaments that Saints were in at the NEC- 82 and 83 I think - both played over two nights. Danny Wallace really let us down as he kept conceding penalties by not staying up front. When we reached the final George Courtney cheated us as always by sending Frank Worthington off.

Not such a long gap, but at the end of 1980/81 we had an 18 day gap between losing at Coventry on April 25th and winning at Ipswich on May 13.

Given the transformation in JWP I would like to see what Ralph can get out of Boufal.
-
Yes they were. Before that you have to go back to the late 50s I think

Got my first Saints replica shirt in there in 1969. It was a marvelous, proper Sports shop.

I would take Clyne back without a thought given he can operate on both sides if needed. But its not possible as we already have Ings on loan from Liverpool and I doubt he would commit to a permanent move when he will have better options in the summer.

Is it time to give Angus Gunn a run in the PL
Kenilworthy replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Would think Gunn will play at Derby. Let's see how he does in what is going to be a tricky game. -
JWP would actually look great in a top six team like Manchester City where they can utilize his strengths and have other players to compensate for his weaknesses. It is not such a wild idea - who would have thought such a very poor player as Fabian Delph would have got a move to the Etihad?
-
I would guess that the assistant was Tony Barton, manager of Villa when they won the European Cup.
-
I was there - possibly 6 to 10 Saints fans in total. It was a good tournament. Jan Valery was the standout player overall, although Hesketh was very good in the first game against South Shields. Also saw first game today - South Shields v Celtic U23 - and Celtic were awful and very luckly to win 2-1. Just a shame there was not a bigger crowd, doubt there were 200 there for the final.

Has anyone else been having problems with the online store? First it wouldn't give me the ST discount - which worked fine last season. They fixed that, but now it won't let me take the postal delivery option.

Notice that for £100 you can buy an 'authentic' version the same as the players' shirts.

>'d be more interested to see what happens if a club committed to not changing their shirt design for 5 years, whether they'd shift more shirts to people knowing they wouldn't have to buy another for 5 years, or whether they'd just massively lose out on revenue from the "buy anything" idiots like me. I suspect the latter, because no-one has tried it, even though NFL teams go years at a time without changing uniform brand or style. My NFL jersey is into its 4th year of relevance (unlike the player on the back, which I suspect is how the NFL teams keep selling jerseys of the same design) It is an interesting point. Maybe if the design didn't change every season more people might actually buy replica shirts - because I guess that as things stand the product life cycle is very compressed, with massive sales at the start of the season, a bit of a boost come Christmas and negligible come February. A shirt with a long life cycle might see people buying different versions - long and short sleeve for example and replacing them when they start to wear out or when their kids outgrow them. It is not inconceivable that not changing design every season could actually result in increased sales.

For the early years he was though the most famous person associated with Saints so merits inclusion

If we are basing this on being a great player/servant for Saints then I can't see how Charles Miller qualifies? How about we select one player to represent a decade of the club's history eg Ted Bates 1950s, Terry Paine 1960, Mike Channon 1970s, Keegan 1980s, MLT 1990s, Rickie Lambert 2010s - not sure who would represent 2000s though

Is there not a case for Alf Ramsey?

I think it was actually Gary Gillespie who caught the ball to stop it reaching George Lawrence. In the 79-90 season game we won 3-2 Muppet Thompson rugby tackled Steve Williams on the halfway line to stop him going clear - and of course stayed on the pitch.
