The difference with the walk to Seven Sisters is that with a crowd of 30,000 it was an easy walk as the numbers had pretty well thinned out by the time you got to the station and you could go straight in. Now it is effectively a queue from stadium to station along very crowded pavements and then you have to wait at the staion entrance. From final whistle it was exactly an hour for us to reach Kings Cross.

Palace 0-2 Saints. Wild celebration reaction thread.

The five wins against Wimbledon include April 92, which was before the Premier League. There were two wins there against Charlton - 86/87 and 89/90 -

I think the five extra wins at Selhurst Park are not just Wimbledon but also against Charlton. -
I like Bertrand. But he will have been with us for six years in the summer. That's much longer than we can expect from any player of real quality nowadays so wouldn't begrudge him a last move. Although I don't see him fancying Leicester. He looks more like a West Ham signing to me.

Nice to think that. But we would have had to beat Hamburg in the final if we got that far. I doubt that any second division side in any league has ever won a european trophy. Maybe they might have done had VAR existed...

Yes it was the next season. Three seasons in a row we went out of the League Cup due to malicious refereeing decisions. Luton goal disallowed. Oldham, the prancing ninny Roger Milford played until they equalised. Manchester United a fictitious sending off for Jimmy Case.

Luton FA Cup 4th round 87/88. Saints fans were only allowed in the ground under duress as they had banned away fans for league games. 1-0 up on their plastic pitch as the final minutes approached and we managed to lose 2-1.

Talking about football in the office to people who had no idea that there was once a time when substitutes were not allowed!

Lawrie lost 7-1 to a lower division side. All managers have freak results at some stage. The next few games will show us if Ralph is any good or not

Players and staff donate ONE DAYS Wages to Saints Foundation
Kenilworthy replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
They ruined my whole weekend. So it should be three days minimum. A week's pay would actually have meant more. -
Saints will buy at CB and FB, new DoF in a month, says Telegraph

After they lost 8-0 to us I believe the Sunderland players paid the travel costs of their fans. We need similar gesture from our players, like donating this week's salary to the Saints Foundation.

Yes their stadium was the first new one for about 30 years, the previous one being Southend. But that was built down to a price. We might have been pioneers

Wouldn’t it be an idea to have ‘suggested’ standing and sitting zones when choosing your ticket. There were seating only tickets available for this game in the raised section at the back. although limited in number and not that well advertised. My father in law, used to go to nearly every away game, but can't stand for long periods now. So this was a rare opportunity for him

Of new stadiums of equivalent size of think Stadium MK (however much I dislike MK Dons) is rather better. But despite its lack of architectural merit, St Mary's trumps most new grounds because it is actually part of the city, a few minutes walk from the centre and a reasonable distance from the main railway station.

Came Friday. But I know of at least person who had asked for a ticket to be posted but the system had them down as collecting from the ticket office.

So if selection is based on European Pedigree, Nottingham Forest with their two European Cup wins will surely take precedence over Spurs and Arsenal who have never won it.

We have three season tickets in our house - and three separate boxes. Can it be that hard to send three tickets to the same address in one box?

Napoli 4-0 Southampton (4-1) - Anglo-Italian League Cup 1976
Kenilworthy replied to Maggie May's topic in The Saints
That's a very interesting find. Think it was the first time Saints ever played on a Sunday -
When you are coming up to a set of traffic lights on green and then the driver ahead slows right down because they don't know where they are going. They then speed off as the lights turn red, leaving you stuck to sit through the next cycle.

Kanckelskis made one appearance as sub in a game we actually won - home v Everton. Don't think it very fair to include him in this debate.

What fixtures are likely to be affected by the mid-season break?

When the ticket inspector on the train calls 'tickets please' and someone further up the carriage then involves them in a really complex transaction so you sit there like a lemon for 15 minutes holding your ticket. And people who start going the steps at the station and then stop to turn around to look at the platform monitor, bringing everyone to halt. And people who get to the exit of a train station and stop dead, almost in surprise at what they are seeing. What do they expect to see leaving Leamington Spa station?

Will we get away with the home shirt at Newcastle? We can't wear the second or third kits. Or will we need a fourth kit just for St Jame's Park?
