  1. The drawback with redesigning a crest is that generally every club that has done it has ended up with something horrible - just look at Stoke and Newcastle
  2. I believe we were told that the discount voucher could be used for shirt personalization. That isn't the case. Tried it when preordering two shirts. It accepts the code and applies a discount of £0.
  3. As said previously, McCarthy would be great to have as a reserve keeper. He is just not a match-winning first choice keeper. But today's defeat was not down to the keeper.
  4. Have seen some suggestions that if fans are allowed in games they will not be allowed to chant or sing. Was any mention of this made at the meeting? My concern is that if this happens the atmosphere will be supplied artificially.
  5. Would be totally unfair to use date of renewal as one of the selection criteria now. People might well have renewed early if they had been told it would count. But under current circumstances you can't blame anyone from holding on. And I am saying this as someone who renewed three tickets as soon as possible.
  6. I had an email with a voucher a few weeks back. But for my ticket only. My two sons, who are linked with me as family and friends, haven't had anything
  7. Everybody of course thinks they have a special case for getting preference in a ballot. I could point to having a season ticket continuously since 1969. But a straight ballot where everyone who has a season ticket gets an even chance is the only fair way. But people should be asked if they want to go in the ballot as there may be some who do not actually want to go under current circumstances. And perhaps we could have group entry into a ballot. So that for the 3 STs in our household either we all win or none of us wins. Allowing family groups to sit together without social distancing should allow more people to be in the ground. Although how that is arranged feels like a complex problem. To help in making suggestions about how we deal with a ballot it would be very helpful to get an idea of what the restricted capacity might be? I assume that the allowed capacity is perhaps half of the number of STs sold already. When renewals finish I guess we are looking at something like 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 getting to see a game.

    20/21 Kit

In 1989 the white away kit had Solent Green trim. Now we are being told the Solent is blue...
  9. Surely Ing's againts Spurs was the best? Great pass then the flick over Toby.
  10. It's those individuals. Alan Smith is fine even when commenting on Arsenal games.
  11. Interesting that Le Havre had a crowd of 5,000 for their friendly with PSG yesterday. That is 20 percent of their capacity. Suggests that around 6,000 might be feasible for St Mary's for the start of the season. I wonder if anything like 6,000 have renewed yet?
  12. What years are you looking for? I have 1988/89 and 89/90 on VHS. 88/89 was the first year that Saints produced a video compilation for. Incidentally, the videos for both those years had some form of copy protection applied. That meant I couldn't copy them to DVD. Maybe the copy protection could be overcome nowadays, The seasons after that I was able to copy the VHS tapes on to DVD. So I don't have the originals for those years, unless they are hidden away in the loft.
  13. We were certainly linked with Trevor Francis in 81/82 and Ball, Channon and Keegan were keen on the idea as we were top of the table and petitioned Lawrie to make it happen as they felt he could make the difference in winning the league. Lawrie himself was not quite so keen because Francis would have cost a million and he always said we would not go the way of Chelsea (then impoverished) in signing players we could not afford. Francis could well have made the difference in winning something in 83/84. However that would have meant we would not have signed Frank Worthington, who did not score many but was integral to the way we played that season.

  15. Arry was obsessed with buying him and wasted most of the transfer window trying to get him when Reid had made it clear he had no intention of signing for Saints. He was one of the last of the fat but skilled footballers.
  16. Stekelenburg played for Saints in the 2015-16 season. He played 17 league games, kept 4 clean sheets and conceded 19. Maybe not brilliant. But far from a horror show.

    20/21 Kit

Hard to believe. But the launch of this season's kit won an award. https://ciprawards.co.uk/excellence/results-2020/best-use-of-content/
  18. Shouldn't a brand new ticket system offer more flexibility for customers, not less?
  19. The ticket office did respond. You can't apply discounts across multiple ticket holders yourself. You have to fill in a form for them to do it.
  20. When I tried to renew our three tickets it only showed discount for mine - and then said the car is empty

    20/21 Kit

Notice they are selling off the 2018/19 kits at rock bottom prices. That includes 'authentic' shirts meant to be similar to player issue for £15 - I think they were asking something like £100 for them originally.

    20/21 Kit

We would need a third kit for Sheffield United and Arsenal. But if the away kit was yellow with a blue sash we would have just about every eventuality covered.
  23. Yes they have been pretty good. Requested refunds on Saturday for Norwich, Watford and Everton and they were processed today.

    20/21 Kit

The Under Armour business is in real difficulty so they might pull out of our contract
  25. That is some of the best quality footage I have seen from that era
