  1. Dave Jones was furloughed. Although in very different circumstances
  2. It would be grossly unfair for the home teams to have 10,000 fans in their ground for the last game of the season .
  3. Still able to score the last minute equaliser against Villa though
  4. I am concerned that Ralph is close to a breakdown. I think he needs help, like a decent assistant. In fact I would bring in Nigel.
  5. Absolutely right. Traore is a bit like Antonio. Let them build momentum and they will destroy you. Block them before they get a run going and they are far less impressive.
  6. For a long time McCarthy over Forster was an easy decision for me. Now it is far from certain. At least with Forster the nonsense of playing out from the back doesn't happen because our defenders know they can't do that with him. They can't do it with McCarthy either, but think they can.
  7. Who wouldn't elbow Mitrovic given the opportunity?
  8. Things were not going well at Chelsea and we rescued a draw. We can do it. But the way we wilted away at Villa from 4-0 up was a clear sign of mental weakness.
  9. Yes I thought exactly the same thing. Doubt there was any malice. He probably wanted to try really hard, like Gobern did, and got it completely wrong.
  10. Don't think there is anything wrong with VAR as such. It is the fact that it is being operated by referees. It should be operated by trained VAR officials.
  11. Late 1968 I started going to reserve games, first one was a 3-0 win over Swindon. Also watched some of the Combination Cup games, including the semi against Spurs. First league game was February 15th 1969, 0-0 against Newcastle. Dad used my uncle's West Stand season ticket and give the turnstile operator a drink to lift me over, which he did for the rest of the season, including a 3-2 win over QPR and an Easter Monday thrashing of Burnley when Bobby Stokes scored twice on his debut. I too saw the pre-season friendly against Dundee - I believe Jim Steele was playing for them.
  12. That is what is so annoying about Lemina. I have always felt that he has the talent to be world class, as he showed in one or two flashes. Yet he seems to have no desire or application, not even in the semi-final when we did have some possibility, albeit slim, of winning a trophy.
  13. Luis Boa Morte and Bruno Leal as well as Cherednik and Gotsmanov
  14. If we did win it would be the third season in a row. Surprisingly, since winning the Championship Leicester have not beaten us at their place.
  15. That games was in December 2001
  16. Surely United's next manager will be someone who has actually won something?
  17. What we should do is to use our comfortable position in the league as the basis to really go for it in the FA Cup, which it is not unrealistic to think we could win.
  18. I wonder how long the situation with only four out of 20 PL clubs being allowed to have fans in the stadium will be allowed to continue? They always bang on about the "integrity of the competition". That doesn't really stack up with some teams having to play in empty stadiums and some not, even though Saints are going to be on of the privileged few. But maybe the decision will be made anyway when a national lockdown is reintroduced.
  19. Danny Wallace
  20. I doubt that Southampton will go into a lower Tier. But it is scandalous that Warwickshire where I live is in Tier 3, when it has less cases than London. So we might make Tier 2. But in fairness to Saints there would not be enough time to apply that for the Man City game.
  21. Yes I got the same and I am in Tier 3. Assume that they did a sift of the database first to remove anyone who can't actually go. Hoping we might make Tier 2 before the next game
  22. Maybe it will make people on here feel better that both myself and my two sons are in the "elite fan "category but we are disqualified because we have Tier 3 postcodes.
  23. Bet the Spurs game is switched to their new stadium
  24. Felt it was a mistake to take Djenepo off as he was worrying them. Also Ralph should have instructed Vestergaard not to keep pushing forward and getting out of position
  25. I had a cataract operation at the end of October and had to self isolate for 14 days before. The operation wouldn't be high on my list of fun things to do, but wasn't as bad as I feared.
