  1. Unfortunately he has won the French Super Cup with PSG. If we consider it a trophy...
  2. I don't know if historically it was our worst ever run. But after beating Villa 3-1 on November 12 1988 we didn't win a league game again until April 1 1989. That was 17 matches including a run of 5 consecutive defeats. Although we did just about keep our heads above water with 8 draws. Really, had we drawn say two or three extra games in this current run we wouldn't be having this debate. Chris Nicholl survived 88/89 and the next season proved to be one of the most fondly remembered in our history.
  3. I don't think the argument is if Ralph is a good manager so much as if he is a good manager for Saints. I don't think he works for us because we don't have enough of the players he needs for his approach to work over the season. So we need a manager that can work with what he is given. It looks like Nuno might move on from Wolves. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ralph go there and be a great success because they have the money to spend on players that fit his style. For Saints, Lampard could be a good fit. He showed at Chelsea he could work with what he is given. It all went wrong when the transfer ban ended and he had to start buying players. He is also well enough connected to work the loans market. Lampard would though only be a short term option, as soon as he has rehabilitated his managerial career with Saints, like Hoddle did, he will be off.
  4. He probably realises that what he did with Porto could never be allowed to happen again
  5. The team panicking most at the news must surely be Everton because their investment is coming too late for them to be imcluded
  6. The worst thing is we actually made a better effort in 2018, and I thought that was poor. Givne that we will generally only have a run like this every 10 years or so I probably only have two or three semi-finals left in my life. So gutted that one just was thrown away as if it was worthless to the players
  7. One thing is certain. It should not be an appointment from within. The whole coaching staff needs to go
  8. It doesn't matter what players we bring in. We have decent players. The manager is the problem.
  9. That shirt was first worn away to Derby in 1989. Also used away to Arsenal twice and Spurs. I think it might just have been the four uses. It was never available as a replica
  10. How did Lingard stay on the pitch after getting a yellow card for time wasting and then within a minute deliberately kicking the ball away?
  11. 1987-88 away at Coventry we were 2-0 down and won 3-2
  12. This player might be worth looking at. 24 goals in 25 games in the Eredivisie http://www.football-oranje.com/vvv-venlo-signs-greek-striker/
  13. Although Steve Williams did have something to show from his time at Arsenal as he won the League Cup, when it was still important
  14. I don't worry about not winning the title in league one or the championship. The trophy didn't do Reading much good and the only thing that mattered was promotion. It is the lack of trophies that rankles when you consider what Leicester have won. We couldn't even win the cup in 83/84 when we were the best team in the league.
  15. I think more Wrexham 74
  16. Nigel Adkins as a short term fix to get the six points we need this season. Saying we can't afford to sack Ralph isn't much of an argument when we can't afford to be relegated
  17. I like Ralph. But his race is run. Even if we stay up this will continue next season
  18. A crucial game - not a single yellow card. Shows our pathetic lack of competition, Ralph must go now
  19. Also in the 5-4 win at Norwich we were 3-1 down and behind three times in the game before winning
  20. Coventry - evening game in October 87
  21. John Fleck every bit as nasty a piece of work as his uncle.
  22. Mid January I would have laughed at the suggestion of not averaging a point a game for the rest of the season. Now I just can't see how the losing will stop
  23. Would have been great to have kept Targett but he would have been backup for at least another season and he wanted regular games. If he had stayed he would now probably be forcing Bertrand out.
  24. There are two and a half months of the season left. So we could allow a month for them to get fit and they might still help win the handfull of points we need. With Romeu probably out for some time I don't think we have enough with what he have.
  25. We need to look seriously at three out of contract players - right back, midfield and striker. It will be expensive. But not as expensive as relegation.
