I think it was mainly in Europe that the alternate version was worn. I guess that Osgood's was different because he was allergic to nylon and had special cotton shirts. By the next season all the shirts were standardised.

But Burnley, Villa and West Ham don't seem to have a problem with having near identical claret and blue kits most of the time

yes I got mine some days ago. Having an office In Leeds I am dreading this game.

I think someone from Sheffield would object to their City being described as average sized. It is (according to some measures) England's fourth largest city. Personally, I think the stripes must stay. But let's go back to navy blue shorts that will make us different to the other teams.

Thought he did ok. The ball didn't often get played to him on the right in positions where he could do anything and Gallagher was often crowding him out. England though were very poor and the referee /VAR awarded the win thanks to a joke penalty for handball.

'Biggest stupid thing' - Redknapp on joining Saints

I wanted him to get the England job. It would have been hilarious. And the press would soon have done for him. -
'Biggest stupid thing' - Redknapp on joining Saints
Kenilworthy replied to Wurzel's topic in The Saints
I have come to terms with Branfoot. But I just feel dirty knowing that Redknapp was manager of my club. -
I know how you feel. But look at it like this. In the past five years we have been in the final of the league cup and two FA Cup semi-finals. Saints will never win the league but a cup is still within reach

Burnley and Brighton games re-arranged in April
Kenilworthy replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
The oldest programme I have in my collection is a division 1 game for our friends down the road in November 1946. The kick off time was 2.45. -
There is a light that indicates the type of ticket when you go through the turnstile to avoid adults using children's tickets. But I have never seen a steward pay attention. Have in the past upgraded a child season ticket to an adult but that proved expensive. Would suggest you go with it, you aren't taking money away from the club when they are selling low price tickets for this game anyway.

What are odds on an away win? Could be worth a safety bet

Did I miss the memo where it was said that shirt pulling is ok now? At least four times our players nearly had their shirts torn off their backs and Mr Friend did nothing.

I am in the same carriage as Amanda Staveley on train from Waterloo

Actually Arsenal have been relegated. What they do hold as a record though is as the only team currently in the top division that wasn't promoted. They bribed their way to election to the first division after WW1

We could take him back on loan for next season

Sadly, those days are long gone. The only way safe standing will ever be allowed is with rail seating - which I think is brilliant - but it takes exactly the same space. The days of being jammed shoulder to shoulder on terraces will never return.

There wasn't the possibility for St Mary's to be built to hold 40,000. The council was concerned about the impact on local traffic infrastructure and limited the capacity to 32,000. That is why we had things like the free bus travel with match tickets to encourage use of public transport. The hope was that if it was proved not to be an issue then we could expand the capacity. Hence three sides of the stadium were built with foundations that could support additional seating. Of course we now find that such an expansion is ruinously expensive.

My worry is that twice before we have received praise for being run in a way that is the envy of other clubs - 2002/3 and 2014/2016 and in no time at all it went wrong

Assuming we are safe at the end of the season and Newcastle need something they are likely to win
-
I guess having a game on Friday 25 ruled out a midweek game next week. But my feeling is that Newcastle are holding on to this as a banker for 3 vital points at the end of the season.

Last time Saints came from behind twice to win a game
Kenilworthy replied to Captain Jack's topic in The Saints
The question asks about coming from behind twice, which is a bit different from coming back from 2-0 down. I am guessing that instances of winning from two goals down may be more common because when you have scored twice to get level the momentum is with you. Of course at Norwich in 94 we were behind four times before winning. -
Most grounds in the Premier League do not seem too bothered about controlling where away fans go after the game, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea for example you come straight out and mix with home fans.

Like the 9,000 in the Ricoh Arena last time we played them in the cup?

Danny also scored the winner at Forest on our next visit, the first game of the 83-84 season.

I trust the company building the Milton End redevelopment has asked for payment up front
