It was a dangerous challenge and outrageous that a yellow card was not shown. If Bednarek did it to Martinelli there would have been outrage.

I have always thought there should be an incentive like 5% off for every continuous year as a season ticket holder. Although I do have a vested interest since as a season ticket holder from 1969 I would now be getting mine for free. As was mentioned earlier, it is stupid that the club appears to have no record of the long term loyalty of its ticket holders. I doubt even that they have any records of who had season tickets at the Dell
-
Yes if Everton go down they will naturally be seen as a bigger TV draw. But anyone else I would say is an equivalent draw to Saints
-
Would have welcomed Potter if we were going to be in the Premier League next season. But he has no record of promotion in this country - just a 10th place with Swansea. Ok he did achieve multiple promotions in Sweden. I really think we need a manager who has got a team from the Championship into the Premier League, so Bielsa would be a good fit in that respect. Although a poor fit with everything else that has gone on at our club in the past few years, which makes him an even better fit.
-
Why do you think Scott Parker is hilarious? Unlike other possibilities he actually has a track record of promotion from the Championship.
-
We are already going to lose all our remaining games. New manager might get some points
-
With QPR seemingly hellbent on relegation and Millwall in with a chance of promotion this could be our last game in London for at least a season.
-
We can't leave it until July because the Championship season kicks off earlier than the Premier League. We need to be ready with the new setup mid-June
-
How about Scott Parker? I can't stand him. But he has taken two teams up. I like what Rowett has done at Millwall. But he has never actually managed a promotion from the Championship and the omens would not be good to employ a second manager who failed at Stoke.
-
We need to make the appointment now to give as long as possible to prepare for next season. I don't think the team we put out today would even win games in the Championship. It is a total reset we need.
-
I was answering the original statement that referenced Sturrock's first game in charge - which was against Liverpool in 2003/4
-
Neither has anyone in Middlesbrough. It is Hartlepool you are thinking of
-
Nathan Jones has never won promotion to the Premier league. We need to look at managers who have - I know, God forgive me, that puts Scott Parker in the frame
-
In the Premier League Moyes would be a good choice. But he has never won promotion. In the Championship we need to be fishing in a completely different pool of managers.
-
Our current experience in the Premier League is poor. But it is going to be even more disappointing when we face the reality of how brutal the game is in the Championship and get turned over at the many grounds we have historically struggled at like Plymouth, Bristol City, Preston, Blackburn, Norwich, Ipswich and Stoke. My prediction is that it will pan out something like 2005/6 and at the halfway point we will look in danger of relegation and then rally once we come to terms with the league.

yes I was there. And we put up a pretty decent performance. I think we were better than in 84. But we were up against a much better side. What made it difficult against Liverpool was not only their great players, but also the cheating they got away with that referees did nothing about. Danny Wallace spent much of the game with Hansen dragging him back by the neck. It would be interesting to see how that team would fare under VAR.

Absolutely. We remember the final seasons of our spell in the lower divisions with fondness because we were the biggest financial bullies in the playground. Next season we are likely to replace being humped by Manchester City and Liverpool by being humped by Preston and Bristol City - which I remember all too well. I will still be going but it will not be enjoyable.

On average I guess away tickets will work out about the same over the season even without the price cap we benefit from now. But there are going to be four more away games, so with travel it is going to be quite a bit more expensive. And I bet season tickets will cost the same on the basis of the extra games.

Day was ruined for me when after the game the gridlock in the car park resulted in the coach carrying the Forest directors wiping out the front wing of my Astra. This was thanks to one of the Police controlling traffic waving the coach forward when there was no room. Insurance finally settled when they realised there was no way they would get an unbiased opinion from either side.

David Armstrong is perhaps the best ever return on a large investment - £600,000 in 1981. He scored 59 goals in 222 league appearances from midfield and was at the heart of the side that came close to doing the double in 83/84
-
The rule changed for the 83/84 season. This match from March 83 shows the teams without shirt sponsors.
-
It was first worn away to West Brom in September 1980. At the time we had to have two versions of every kit, one with a sponsor and one without as any game on TV, even short highlights, could not show shirts with sponsors.
-
Just noticed that Bristol City have ditched Hummel already and have started wearing their O'Neils kit for next season No More Hummel for British Clubs? Hummel's UK Distributor Goes Into Administration - Footy Headlines Wouldn't be surprised to see Saints turning to Admiral for a third time.
-
I hope that Saints are "braced" to resist offers

Very good article. Excellent point made about trying to judge every decision when really its only the obvious errors that should go to VAR. When VAR was introduced we though the intent was to stop David Silva scoring when yards offside, and now it is making calls over inches.
