  1. Personally, I don't see it happening for Saints. But over the years we have seen that this is a league where teams can go on runs of winning game after game. Like Forest going from bottom in September 2021 to winning the play-offs.
  2. Perhaps PGMOL should also review the numerous dreadful fouls by Stoke players that went unpunished, their failing to return the ball when kicked out so one of their injured players could get attention and the frequent surrounding of the referee?
  3. Three times under Chris Nicholl we went out of the League Cup due to malicious refereeing decisions. As well as Oldham there was the disallowed goal that put us in the lead against Luton and then the nonsensical decision by George Courtney, the Mike Dean of the time, so send Jimmy Case off at Old Trafford for a foul on Bryan Robson on the halfway line.
  4. John Brooks is an utterly dreadful referee. He is Mike Dean's heir apparent
  5. At other clubs the players and managers would recognise their responsibility to the fans and reimburse everyone who travelled to Sunderland and Boro. But at Saints it is our fault. The remarkable thing is that it has taken this long for people to get really angry.
  6. Don't know why it doesn't seem to have been remarked that any keeper should have saved the equaliser?. I am now in the terrible position of hoping for a heavy defeat by Leeds to get this over with.
  7. Rasmus has worked with Lee Carsley, England U21 manager, at Brentford. Or possibly the Serb connection with Jokanovic?
  8. The 4-0 defeat at Aston Villa effectively broke what had looked like a decent Saints team and put us on the road to relegation. The 5-0 at Sunderland seems to have done the same thing. I don't know why the club has lost any resilience. Over the 50 plus years I have watched Saints I regularly saw us get a massive humping and then win the week after.
  9. There is every possibility of losing at Boro and then Leeds at home. Five in a row would surely end Martin. To the people who told us how great it would be to play at a lower level where we could compete - how's that going?
  10. I don't think we could have got off at Eastleigh last night as the junction was shut. Have in the first taken a completely circuitous route via Romsey and Stockbridge. That would have been far quicker
  11. To add to a terrible game, had a horrendous journey home. WTF is going on with the M3 that was meant to be finished this summer? The geniuses responsible for roadworks forced all traffic into a single lane on the right, then within a mile or so of getting out of that the traffic was forced into a single lane on the left before being diverted off the motorway completely to crawl through Winchester. Didn't actually get on the A34 until 11.30. Its nonsense.
  12. Was it seven or eight games we lost by a single goal to very poor sides? An extra 8 points from games not lost but drawn would have given us a real chance or survival
  13. Also no one can really call themselves a proper Saints manager until they have been in charge for a right drubbing: Ted Bates conceded 8 at Everton and 7 at Leeds, Lawrie conceded 7 at Ipswich and Watford, Chris Nicholl conceded 7 and 6 at Luton...
  14. I thought so but it stays open quite late in other countries. We could sell Onuachu to a team in the Yemen in November
  15. As well as Sheffield United and Brighton away he had a storming game against Chelsea at St Mary's who resorted to kicking him up and down the pitch. And there was that great goal against Manchester City. Always felt there was a player there if he had been used in the right way and just told to get the ball and run at defenders
  16. Why has the club had such a blindspot over keepers for years? We don't need a worldclass keeper, just a competent one and there are a good number that have been available recently and affordable for us. This obsession with a ball playing keeper is madness, playing it out from the back just doesn't work. Let's get a keeper that does what keepers are meant to - stop shots. Which rules out McCarthy.
  17. Other teams we would have an apology from the players and a whip round to cover the costs of the travelling fans.
  18. Schmeichel released by Nice - would be a great signing
  19. Remember to take coins out of pockets Sunderland: Away fans banned from bringing coins and vapes into ground - BBC Sport
  20. Maybe we go back for Stewart in January and have agreed with Adams that he can go then?
  21. Went by a few months back and Nicks is still standing. Used to love the mixed grill before a game
  22. John Brooks is the spiritual heir to Mike Dean
  23. Given that it looked so bad I couldn't understand why he limped off slowly and painfully rather than being put on a stretcher?
  24. So he was petrified at having to sit in the VAR chair. But I bet not as petrified as I was knowing he was sat in the VAR chair
  25. I fully understand why he would want to get back to the Premier League. But if I was advising him I would say to stay well clear of Everton where his reputation is likely to be diminished and he will have the crowd on his back, but if Palace or Forest are in then to go for it.
