  1. Personally, forget O'Riley - if the only person we get is Aaron Ramsdale to the end of the window (loan or loan to buy) then I will be happy!
  2. We need to play for 3rd place now so keep matching or beating the Ipswich tally to get the best draw for the playoffs. Should be strongest 11 today with a 3 week break. It won't happen but Bree in for Manning and I am not a Smallbone fan so Rothwell for him. Has to be a win!
  3. Smallbone is the new Redmond - always with his back to goal!
  4. I hope he doesn't come out again and say he is proud of the players. First half - wrong team and wrong tactics. Got the right team on eventually but too late. A well drilled Ipswich side deserved to win. They chased down opposition, always found a teammate to pass and looked dangerous on the break. We were totally opposite - Che Adams and Bednarek when he came on are the only positives. To think 1 year ago they were league 1 and we were premier league - you would have thought it was the other way round. I shall be up again at Xmas - I hope to God someone has told him how to play this team by then! We won't get relegated as we are but lucky to be top 10!
  5. Just heard his post match thoughts (RM) - i dont think he was at the same game! If anything the score should have been 1-8
  6. Martin said after Sunderland that it won't happen again - well not for two weeks! And the answer isn't Armstrong and aribo
  7. Shocking - absolutely awful - manager takes responsibility and must leave ASAP. Get Potter in for Christ's sake - he would sort out defence - Best CBs on the pitch and still 3 goals conceded. Midfield non existent - how is Smallbone getting a new contract let alone first pick! Can't see any more points this month!
  8. Worse than the 0-9 scored. Every Sunderland player to a man better than ours. No-one deserves credit - suppose it was going to happen sometime and he has 2 weeks to sort it out. Must not lose to Leicester or Ipswich now - hopefully Mellis and Stewart will be fit enough to start one or both. Extreme sympathy to the traveling fans - you deserve a refund!!
  9. Would make three changes - Stuey, Mara & Edozie off - Fraser, Che and Charles on! Can't waste a sub on the goalkeeper unfortunately!
  10. I dont think much of them either - i remember at the Dell for a period we had a genuine New Orleans Jazz Band with the fellow at the front dancing with an umbrella - more upbeat and a good sound.
  11. Highlight of the day for me was AA running back 30 yards to get the ball of what was going to be a dangerous attack with everyone else doing nothing! As he scored the penalties MOM for me. We have 2 centre backs we tried to get rid of last season and KWP has taken a big dip in form. Will wait and see what the transfers bring us but it's going to be a struggle against bigger and stronger players! Talking to a Norwich fan on the train afterwards - reckons we will walk this league 🤷🏼‍♂️
  12. Thought Lyanco, Sulemana and Alcaraz all good today. Even Bree did ok. I really hope they don't try and keep Ely (awful every time!) The youngsters were are too lightweight in my opinion and need gradual involvement but it was heartening to see Amo-Ameyaw drop his shoulders and leave two Liverpool players for dead which created Walker-Peters chance at the end. The last player I saw do that was a very young theo Walcott a d he didn't turn out too bad. It's sad to see JWP go but I guess we need the funds (hopefully £100m for him and Lavia together!) Looking forward to winning some games next season and at least a top 10 slot!
  13. Cheaper and easier to get tickets, all the over-rated players have left, winning games, more youngsters from the successful B team getting games, better atmosphere at games - can we hope for a better manager? (low bar for that one - ps would like Viera!)
  14. After watching Wednesdays game (especially first half) Nathan Jones is probably about the best manager who would want to come here. Calculated gamble from the club. A good hungry excellent man manager who may keep us up. If not, what better bloke to have in the championship next year but last year's championship manager of the year! I wish him well and give him all my support!
  15. Youngsters were outmuscled by bigger experienced defenders. First half was woeful - lucky to get a pen. Ref was poor. Diallo, Djenepo, Elynoussi and Walcott (those two misses🤦🏼‍♂️) shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. Better with Perraud and change of formation 1/2 time but just how bad are we in front of goal - definitely need someone upfront in January. Nathan Jones is all we deserve - at least he is a man manager and may be able to get this lot to perform - at least we got away with it for a change tonight - maybe it's a turning point!
  16. I think we should go full strength especially with our attackers - give them a real chance to score a goal - hopefully more than one! The new manager will probably be in the stands so a good opportunity to see whats at his disposal. Also extends something for us to have a go at outside the relegation battle we are now in so full strength please Ruben!
  17. Apart from the manager - Declan Rice showed JWP why he isnt anywhere near the england squad. AMN and ELY - not the answer. Midfield was atrocious really both halves. Having ABK going off early didn't help and Sally made some big mistakes. Not a lot the manager can do about that. Didnt look like the home team in the second half. Very lucky to walk away with a point.
  18. At least he didn't pick Walcott🤦🏼‍♂️! Although he had selected Mo! If he brings on Djenepo then I will become a Ralph out man!
  19. My first game for awhile in the Kingsland (cheaper seats!) Negatives - Djenepo is a liability defending and shouldn't be used there (will get overrun against Utd and Chelski) Bednarek - time to move on, Adams - huffs and puffs but OK did have a hand in the goals but no efforts on goal in the first 60-70 minutes! Midfield - no names but we never seem to win the 2nd or loose ball and our players get bumped off the ball very easily. Positives - Bazunu - should play every game even against Cambridge - hope he stays long enough to be a legend! Bella-Kotchap - looks a decent footballer - its getting the rest of the defence sorted to play with him. Aribo - should start every game - always positive and plays for the shirt. As always KWP and JWP with good games (although JWP isnt quite on it yet). Mara a nice cameo. Adam Armstrong did well but dont think he is the answer! Need a striker like Broja or equivalent along with full back cover (especially left hand side) and we will be fine!
  20. I thought Ralph said we had 22 players at or on the same level - must have a lot of injuries today then?🤔
  21. We got what we deserved. JWP wouldn't have missed a penalty 🤔! Can't understand why Grealish and Sterling are so greedy when 20 yards out and think they will always score and yet can't with a 1-1 with the keeper from the spot? Saka was awful when he came on and never looked in the game - that alone should have been enough that Gareth shouldn't have put him as No5! As for Rashford - hate it when players take penalties like that - serves him right - it's a Euro final - just hit it properly!
  22. Adams should have started - bring on for redmond. Will never win high balls in the box with their defence.
  23. Forgot to add - Uncle who had season ticket lived in Bursledon at the time - talking football in the car with 2 of his neighbours to and from the game across the floating bridge - No Itchen bridge then!
  24. League Cup 2nd Round 4 September 1968 - Home V Crewe Alexandra - W3-1 after going 0-1 down in the first half. I was very worried before the game as my hero at the time Ron Davies was an injury doubt but he played - didn't score. Goals from Frank Saul (2) and a young Mick Channon. Finished 8th in the league that year with John McGrath and Terry Paine playing every game - a lifetime support began!
  25. I thought Stuart Armstrong was MOM by a mile - cant understand why it was given to Ings! Salisu was OK - but shouldnt play on Sunday. Dont think we would have beaten a full strength Wolves side but that isnt our problem. The defence looked better i think because of having KWP back - RB and LB cover should be No1 priority in the summer! I dont think Redmond should have played as a striker - surprised he wasnt subbed. I dont think its the right sort of game for Djnepo either but he was OK - with Redmond not being productive in the final 1/3 as well its easy to see why we arent scoring goals. Our best forward line is Adams and Ings. We got through and have a good chance for a semi final at Wembley. Overall - 7/10!
