I did but what I was referring to was his lack of desire to close down when they were in possession. His woeful finishing I've almost come to expect this season. It just seems like he's lost his desire.

Unfortunately on that display RK is right in his assessment of our academy products. Reed was the only player worthy of a step up which is why he's on the first team bench but doesn't get game time because he's not as good as Clasie.

When you suffer a humiliating defeat you expect a response that defines the character of the side. We got that in the first 20 minutes and then became so predictable that a truly poor team can hold possession for a long period without us even attempting to press. If we suffer defeats in our next 4 games we could well be flirting with the relegation zone. A win at Palace and confidence is restored, a defeat and worrying times ahead.

Shame Fonte can't deal with Benteke. Pelle needs a rest against Villa and Garston might get to prove his usefulness.

We don't appear to retain possession this year as well as we did in our last 4 years. No more 27 successive passes with the attendant OLE this year I suspect. Our back four are under more pressure as we gift possession to easily at the front and midfield so we resort to hitting and hoping or hoofball. Often the 50/50 situations this results in doesn't fall in our favour and more pressure on the defence is making the team appear nervous and lacking in confidence. Maybe we all bought into the rebuilding each year as getting stronger when in fact we could be a lot weaker. Hopefully this appearance is only because of current injuries and settling in periods for the new players but I fear a loss against Midtjylland and Norwich could herald a confidence crisis.

Our passing was nowhere near as crisp and controlled as Boro's but our defending look ok although Gazza's positional sense and decision making is a concern. Juanmi's final ball was often overhit and our midfield young pretenders look a long way from stepping up to the first team.

I would think less likely unless he doesn't play second half.
