Echo says Adkins on brink of Saints job 2.30pm
dockland Dave replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
when WGS was appointed most Saints fans were underwhelmed after his failure at Cov When Dave Jones arrived most saints fans were underwhelmed when Chris Nichol arrived " " When Laurie Mac arrived " " A big name doesn't gaurentee success. We are hiring a bright up and coming young manager who so far has beaten all expections. Pardew was a good solid manager, but he certainly wasn't special -

Mate, I owe you an apology. You obviously do still have the ear of some of those in power. Please keep posting what you can on here. You are one of a few wiser heads on here who manage to create a balanced perspective, and i am sorry for having a pop. David

From the BBC I doubt it

"Back in May, Cortese described reports of Pardew's imminent demise as "ill informed". A source close to Cortese told me that the chairman mounted a strong defence of Pardew's position at a time when owner Markus Liebherr, who tragically died in early August, wanted a change of manager." Do you realize how much you irritate most posters on this forum. Any thread you decide to get involved in seem to degenerate into a slagging match. You come across as a sad lonely individual who desperately needs to hear the sound of your own voice (i suspect this is due to the fact that in day to day life your opinion counts for very little). I do believe in the principal of freedom of speech, but do wish you could find a life and spend less time on this forum. You have yet to understand that your opinion on here generally (which you force down everyone elses throat) is yours alone and happily is not reflected by the majority of posters. Please go and find a hobby!

Everyone has the right to express their opinions, and this forum is probably the best place to do it, and a lot of the grievances on this forum towards our chairman are pretty valid. I am quite willing to admit the I am a NC "luvie". The bloke is a always going to be controversial and not going to every ones tastes. He come across as a very single minded, dynamic individual who is probably a bit of a control freak. But I believe, (like the majority of posters on here) the bloke is generally doing a good job and taking our club forward. I think our club is becoming the most dynamic and forward thinking outside of the PL, a huge change from 16 months ago. I do feel that there is a degree of bitterness towards NC on this forum from certain individuals, who under the previous regimes had access to the ear of the club, or whose sources once wielded a degree of power within the club, but have been totally cut of the loop and who now feel slightly impotent. I don't agree with everything NC does, but considering the state of the club just over 12 months ago, find it very difficult to understand some of the vitrol aimed at the bloke.

Brilliant post Mark, totally agree. No offence to FF but are his "sources" part of the old regime, and what axe do these people have to grind. Cortese appears to keep his own council and the "old school" don't know much more than the rest of us.

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
dockland Dave replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
I think you are dreaming. The average PL squad player will be on twice what any body at saints is on. Bringing someone in on that sort of wage will only rock the boat. I know people keep mentioning the loan of youngsters from prem clubs, but PL clubs will only loan out players if they are going to be guarenteed games, and i am not sure saints can do this. I suspect AF or AW would prefer a youngster to be playing week in week out in a mid table div 1 team than sitting on the bench at saints. I suspect we will be looking for players that have fallen out of favour for top CC teams, or buying the best from our competitors in div 1 -
Compared to 15 months ago, none of us can complain. There are only one or two on here that would argue with a paper bag who would disagree. Ok he has made a few dodgy decisions on season tickets, car parking, and his relationship with the Echo. but we have a debt free club, are huge favourites for promotion, have the best squad in the league by a country mile, and for the first time in 5 years have been able to hold onto our best young players. We have a set up that can match every other L1 or CCC club NC is a hard nosed banker, and like most people in his position will only tolerate success and he will p..s on anyone that gets in his way! You are not going to get the all round nice guy, but what you will get is a winner, and I think we all (Saints fans) deserve a little success! Bring on the season.
-
I doubt we are, i suspect we have the biggest wage bill in league by a fair mile. Added to that is a drop in tv revenue of 2.7m, and reduced season ticket prices.
-
WC you are an idiot. i can remember jason dodd making his debut against liverpool, he came from Bath City if i remember rightly
-
thats only because we weren't good enough. would have loved it if we did.
-
how can you say this after what happened to us last year?? the only difference between the two clubs is our fall from grace wasn't as public as we were not in the premier. Stop sounding so bitter and twisted. Pompey are already f...d, let them enjoy their day out at Wembley, they won't be celebrating much else for a while.
-
Glasgow Saint, i think you have become the most irratable and obnoxious poster on here, and with the competition on here, thats quite an achievement. Can you please go away and find something else to occupy your time
-
looking at the fixture guide, i can't see us catching Huddersfield. I can't see how they are going to drop 8 points over 7 games
-
you are very deluded

Please can you have some realisic expectations. In the summer we lost the two players in the squad who had any real sell on value due to admin. AP came in very late and attempted to assemble a team that could get us into safety. That work continued in the xmas transfer window. No manager can expect a team to gell straight away, and our team has been a little inconsistant, which in MHO is to be expected. Teams such as Norwich, Leeds, Millwall and Charlton have basically the same squads as last year, and this has shown in their results. i cant believe the short sighted views the likes of you have. 1 months ago we were close to going under. Please tell me how long did it take Sir Alex to get Man Utd performing when he got the job. How long did it take LM here at Saints. Please take a longer term perspective you idiot. The general consensus was that this season was about rebuilding, learning to win again and bringing the feel good factor back. AP has gone far beyond that bringing home the JP and reaching the last 16 of the cup. This team has shown on its day it can beat anyone, consistancy will come as they play together. if your only gage of success start supporting man utd or chelsea, or perhaps even barca.

Alpine, please go and support Man United
-
please walk on you idiot
-
Glasgow Saint, please shut up.

If P*mpey get wound-up on Friday :Poll:
dockland Dave replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
After last summer and the the daily pain we all went through until buyers were found, I am surprised you lot won't at least have some empathy with the blue lot. We almost went out of business because we spent what we didn't have, and if it wasn't for ML we would have gone. Can we we just accept we lost, wanting to go through on default is pretty poor. Lets be big enough to except we lost an cut out some of the bile being spouted on here, it just makes us sound like bad losers. I personnally hope Pompey do survive. I would hate to think our last match against them was a 4-1 defeat. Part of being a Saints fan is our rivalry with Pompey, and I wouldn't want that to end. Yes I would like to see Pompey suffer and fall down the leagues, but disappear, no way. The pompey fans I work with, all (although enjoying seeing us struggle last year) wanted to see us survive, because like everyone on here a result against your bitterest rivals is better than beating Man Utd, Chelsea or Barcelona.Without them being a Saints fan would mean a little less. -
Will Lambert be a Saints player next season
dockland Dave replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
i suspect he will be here. But if any top CCC club or lower Premiership club came in for him, I think he would be stupid not to go. The bloke is 27, so if he wants to play at the highest level he will have to make the move very soon. I also think that any of the above clubs will be able match his wages, either through sky tv money or parachute money. Would you prefer to be playing against Man Utd or Arsenal for Burnley or Bolton, or playing Stockport or Walsall for us?? As for wages, I suspect there are players in the CCC earning 5 or six times his money, and a number of clubs could quite easily pay more than we are doing here. As for being under contract, I think in todays world it means very little. If a player wants to leave they will do. I think every manager we have had including Pardew has echoed these comments over the last decade. -
we lost because we didn't have the neccessary quality to take the chances we created, and because once we had to chase the game our geriatric defence was picked off by their forwards. So I dont see the point in pontifercating about the above. Saints traded as an insolvent company last year hence admin, I suspect the same will happen to them. I don't want Pompey to go bust, would prefer to see a slow and painful slide down the league tables a bit like we had. I don't want the last game we played against them to be 4-1 defeat.
