  1. Or it indicates that we couldn't sell him to anyone, and so we were stuck with him anyway.
  2. I'm just speculating but isn't there a limit on how many clubs a player can play for in a year? If we plan to sell puncheon that would explain why he won't even get a chance in the first team. I think the sensible thing would be to judge at the end of the transfer window. How much did Norwich spend last year in Jan?
  3. Its going to be tight. West Ham, Birmingham, Hull and Middlesborough are all firing and have good managers. Leicester and Cardiff have it in them to make a charge, although I expect derby and palace to wane as injuries and suspensions take their toll. We can clearly do it, but a few injuries could spell problems.
  4. Midfield was poor in this game, reading were in control for long periods. I lost count of how many corners they had. Then Hammond nearly cost us the game, with a foul that led to the reading goal and then getting a second yellow for a very foolish tackle. I wanted to see schneiderlin come on, as for long periods we really couldn't keep any possession at all. We looked like scoring whenever we go near their box though, which was positive. Davis 6 Richardson 6 Fonte 4 (Martin 6) Hooiveld 7 Fox 6 Cork 5 Guly 6 Hammond 4 Chaplow 6 Connelly 5 Lambert 7
  5. I think Martin did better than Fonte, who may have been carrying an injury. certainly fonte looked poor for most of the game.
  6. This month is certainly interesting because we play the three teams directly below us. How we perform against them will give us a strong clue as to how far we can go with this team, so it could definitely be a big factor in defining confidence for the season ahead. If we can keep winning our home games and stop the teams near us from taking 3 points when we visit them that will do nicely. Key to this is improving defensively, where we are conceding too many.
  7. I agree this is going to be a tough game. Brighton won there recently though, so anything can happen. I think it is pretty evenly matched, which is the championship all over really.
  8. BBC says Jaidi in contention for a start. Personally I would like to see him back in if he's fit. We have been conceding too many goals away from home in my view.
  9. I'm not meaning to be negative, and the team has done amazingly well so far. But the glaring fact is that the teams we have beaten have only managed 40 points between them out of 61 games.
  10. i will start to think realistically of this when we have beaten a team in the top ten.
  11. I thought it showed Martin can do a job. Whatever people say about Leeds lacking cutting edge, in Brown, Gradel, Howson and Snodgrass they have one of the best midfields in the league, and had a lot of possession in the second half. I'm sure becchio would have troubled them more, but it is to the team's credit that it only resulted in one clear chance, and Martin played his part in that. Looking at Cardiff and West Ham yesterday, I thought neither looked as good as saints or leeds on the ball.
  12. The thing is we don't really know we've been offered Gorkss. More likely we asked for Gorkss in return for Puncheon and QPR said no way Jose.
  13. It was pulled but has now returned.
  14. The ownership page has been taken down this morning.
  15. I think your link points somewhere other than where you intended it to.
  16. I agree with you that this would be highly undesirable, but I hold the view that we missed our chance there with the pinnacle bid. What saints fans should be thinking about from the programme was that the scenario was very familiar. The plan was to buy a championship or big league 1 club. It would cost £15 million. Next they needed a 5 year plan to get to the premier league. This would require a further investment of £15 million. They would need PR, some owner figurehead to wave at the fans and take the credit. Once in the premier league they sell for their profit. Most people on here won't wake up and smell the coffee until saints are owned by some Asian gamblers, fake sheiks, soviet organised crime merchant or or tandoori chicken farmers.
  17. Dronski, I'll defend the programme still because the whole piece at that stage was about how easy it was to find out who owns the club. The point was that as Liebherr is gone, yet still registered as the owner of the holding company we cannot know who the owner is. Now obviously there is likely a good reason for absence of a new name, bur if you can update dispatches on the identity of the clubs current owner then I'm sure they will be pleased to hear.
  18. I don't think the programme said anything incorrect, just that we are listed as owned by dead man. The implication was that we therefore do not know who the owner was, not that something fishy going on.
  19. The real problem is that we have some tough games coming up. I am thinking: Orient away (last 6 games 4W 1D 1L): draw or defeat Brighton away (last 6 games: 6W): draw or defeat MK dons home (last 6 games 5W 1D): draw or even defeat if recent history replays itself (saints last 6 games 4W 1D 1D). These teams are all on excellent runs of form, rivalling ours.
  20. No he's trying to say they're not on the list. I'm sure if you name your numerous other places, hopefully very credible sources, then everyone will be reassured.
  21. As another ex-goalie, I would agree with this. It had too much pace and entered the 6 yard box late. kelvin was correct in my view to stay on his line. Also, note the defenders don't turn to him afterwards, they knew it was theirs to clear. The first goal, you could say it was seabournes fault, but not Davis as he was faced with a shot that could have gone either side of him. The blame here lies with the whole team, whose position was too high up the pitch, leaving posh's best man one on one with seabourne with no cover front or back. Where Davis does lack is in distribution, but he is a good goalkeeper. All IMO.
  22. And this for me seems to sum it all up rather well and depressingly so.
  23. surely benji an internet forum about football is one place where it's impossible to be out of your depth, especially this one!
  24. From my personal point of view, I would say that from where I sit I can't judge whether Cortese is trustworthy or untrustworthy, and I would like to know how anyone on this forum could realistically make this judgement. 'The club is not for sale' could be very carefully chosen words, and does not preclude that Cortese is looking for other significant backers.
  25. The thing is toadhall, if the 'outsiders' you speak of are football people or the media, then they all know the story anyway, regardless of whether it 'comes out'.
