If that was Adams chance to shine then he'll be on the bench for months to come... 15 million... 15 million !!! Shlong better sign that extension.
-
Surprised to see no discussion over who's going to be our RB over the next couple of games with Valery still not ready to return. Danso looked a little lost in the Huddersfield game so I suppose it's going to be a case of fitting a square peg into a round hole again?
-
Vestergaard was shockingly bad against Huddersfield, Yoshi all the way! (Danso seems to panic when he gets the ball / be unsure of his next move)
-
A post full of excuses. In the first half all we did was send the ball up the left, he had plenty of "service", with Danso sat on the right in acres of space being criminally ignored by everyone (yes Danso was a bit shonky once he had the ball, but had more chances of getting it forward if anyone had bothered to pick him out). Don't provide Boufal with get out clauses for a poor performance, he's been given plenty of chances, yet always reverts to type.
-
No more chances. Obafemi, Smallbone and Vokins did better and didn't cost £16m. Sell him in the summer, hope we can shift Carillo, and spend our money wiser.
-
I understand where you're all coming from but when... # Adams can't hit a barn door. # Deep down we're all just wondering when, not if, Ings will become injured again. # We have no stunning academy prospects. ... not offering him at least a one year extension seems daft, it's risk mitigation, however there's no guarantee that he'd take it anyhow.
-
So just let our second best forward / striker go, not even offer a years extension, that's bloody ridiculous!
-
So we can offload him at the end of the season then?
-
What triggered the humble one going to our bench and hassling one of the backroom boys?
-
That's an insult to Shane Long who's infinitely better. Other than Ings, who I thought by now would have been injured but's playing damned well (please stay fit!), we've bought three forwards recently and two thirds of them have been an absolute waste of money.
-
Don't leave us hanging, spill the beans then.
-
A fair amount of this, look at how far back Ings was for masses of the game.
-
Anyone else frustrated with seeing Djenepo desperate for the ball, waving his arms out on the wing with no City players anywhere near him, but others ignoring him? PEH as a left wing back was surprisingly good, as were all the back five. Maybe the Leicester humiliation woke up a few complacent players and staff?

Decent article about saints and our troubles
Fatboy40 replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
Football in higher leagues is a "business" and no longer a sport, so a lot of the points you posted are typical bad business decisions from a bad and arrogant leader / owner (which of course will have a very negative impact), but this point is the one that worries me the most right now. To quote a phrase "No Man is an Island" and RH is now having to act like one, and unfortunately has no opportunity to change this himself at Saints as it appears to be micro-managed by the football illiterate Gao. Other have also implied this but you focus on changing the things you can, and for RH this is really only who employs him, so if I was him I'd be keeping a very close eye on managerial vacancies in Austria and Germany. -
Smooth Streams / Live 247 have it listed for tomorrow (two EFL cup games).
-
I wonder if Danny would be interested in making the step up to management
-
For those of us at work who can't listen what did he say / imply?
-
Looking more and more like we gifted them three points

Absolutely. It really looks like Rohl was a "force multiplier"... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_multiplication ... to RH, and there's no reason why this can't happen again, but hopefully it won't take to long (Edit: And by that I mean RH gets a team around him that brings this back to him and Saints).
-
Summed up perfectly, I find his very late substitutions baffling. I like RH, so much better than the dross of the past few years, but I'm starting to assume that it was RH and Rohl together as a package that sorted us out and now we've lost 50% of that
-
Unless the Echo is happy to print lies / miss-quotes from RH then we have to assume this is true, and it's beyond bizarre that he has no idea why Soares did this. If I did the same at work I'd be disciplined in some way or other, and in this context you'd be thinking about "Gross Misconduct" as we were relying on Soares to be a part of our team to beat a vulnerable Spurs.

Back in the office today after a long weekend, where the majority supports Bournemouth, and some are so desperate to make little snide comments or be outright aggressive (I don't hide that I support Saints, but don't bang on about it either). It's annoying loosing to them as I knew it would be used to enforce this non-existent rivalry we are supposed to have with them, that's been completely manufactured by Bournemouth fans, where all the Saints fans I know treat them as just another football team in the Premier League (and are impressed with how well they're doing without the resources of many other longer term Premier League teams).

I think we're at point where any honeymoon is definitely over and we can question all we want his defensive decisions. - Players payers out of their career long positions, not just once but multiple times. - Sticking with Vestergaard when he's progressively getting worse / making more mistakes and we have a solid Japanese capped CB (Vestergaard seemed to spend as much time moaning at his teammates last night as he did "defending"). - Targett was not great, but we sold him when we've no Plan B for LB (but if I was Matt if I hadn't have been sold I'd have probably asked to be transfer listed anyhow to get regular game time). ... I hope RH wises up, and it wasn't Rohl who had all the defensive nous.
-
Watching Boufal's face now and again when he lost the ball, that look of "how dare they do that", and those occasional moments when he stops dead afterwards show that the Boufal of old is still there under the surface. However, he's definitely trying harder under RH than any other Saints manager he's played for, so hopefully it stays that way and I'll be very happy if it does (... but there's this niggling doubt in my mind that it will, and also that if in the Summer a French team had make a realistic accepted bid for him he'd have gone like a shot).
