While I don't disagree with you that we are struggling to bowl sides out, which hasn't been helped by Tahir and the entire seam attack struggling with injuries at some point this season, I think the batting is a bigger problem. We have an average first innings score of 260 this year which isn't nearly enough and have only passed 300 three times in either innings of eight games so the bowlers have never had anything to bowl at.

Someone who wants to watch Saints away from home but also likes to sit down at games? Just a thought...

That's fair enough then. I agree with you its not been our year and Griff's injury kind of sums up our season to be honest, bowlers struggling for fitness and batsmen struggling for form. At least it was encouraging at New Road to see Nic and McKenzie scoring some runs and to see Dimi, Kabir, Thommo and Tahir all bowling.

Thanks for that Weston. Do you have any idea as to why Griffiths didn't play at Worcester? From what I have seen and heard he has been our best bowler in the championship this year, a feeling backed up by the stats, yet he appears to have been dropped!

He was outstanding against Surrey!

The main problem appears to be Myburgh, McKenzie and Pothas who are supposed to provide experience and solidity to the middle order but all of whom appear woefully out of form. The T20 might be just what the batsmen need (particularly McKenzie and Pothas), the pressure will be off and they might have the freedom to play some shots and hopefully find some form.

Rochdale 2 - 0 Southampton - Post Match Reaction
saintsdan replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Who thought Rochdale would be sixth in the league? I wish people would stop just looking at the name of the team we're playing against and making assumptions about thier current team based on preconcieved views of that club (It's one of the things that makes us sound arrogant). Rochdale are a good side who are sixth on merit. Huddersfield were thumped 3-0 at Spotland, Bournemouth drew there, Brighton drew there (they also got a point at Withdean) and Peterborough have still got to go there. Last night was disappointing and we may well have been quite poor (wasn't there so can't say) but its not the end of the world. With Brighton likely to be crowned champions before we go there the toughest game in our run in is now out of the way. I think wins in our home games and at Plymouth will be enough with anything from either Brighton or Brentford a bonus. -
Have to agree, Their next couple might look ok but in April they have to go to Charlton, MK Dons and Brighton and play Perterborough at home. Not easy IMO

Last time we played at home!

Not as good as 62/1 did off 22!! Incredible collapse!

Agreed, thought he was excellent. Any idea what his batting is like?

16-4 now! 2 in an over for Balcombe, ten Doeschate out 2nd ball
-
7-2 Good start! One each for Cork and Tomlinson
-
That should be pretty good pace bowling attack.
-
Doesn't help when Kabir Ali, simon Jones and Dimi are all injured though does it? With those three in the side I think we've got a pretty pace bowling attack. With David Griffiths injured as well i would suggest our resources are farely depleted so our current struggles are understandable.
