  1. Just out of interest, how is a song (hymn) promoting Saints pro Catholic but anti-Protestant? Do the other Christian faiths not worship Saints or celebrate the feast days of Saints? Seems a little strange given that the origins of the club and hence the nickname are based around St Mary's which is an Anglican parish.
  2. Do we know if Neil McKenzie is coming back? and if so is he here for the whole season? If so I agree with you. With him, Adams and Carbs in the top order we shouldn't need another batsman as overseas player but we are in desparate need of a strike bowler in championship cricket.
  3. Being serious for a moment.. That will depend on how you believe shipping, and in particular the port of Southampton, will develop over the next 100 years. The existence of the Western docks restricts the possibility of a bridge over the Test any further downstream than the existing. A tunnel maybe?
  4. lol at Alpine calling Mark Cavendish a bottler! This is the man who has more stage victories at the Tour De France than any other sprinter in history, including 4 wins on the Champs-Elysees, has also won stages at both the Giro (Tour of Italy) and the Vuelta (Tour of Spain) and has won the points classification (sprinters competition) at both the Tour and the Vuelta. He has also won in some of the Spring Classics and is the current World Road Race Champion. He didn't win the sprint because he wasn't put in a position to win which was more to do with the structure of the race (maximum 5 riders per team) and the failure of any of the other sprinters teams, particularly Germany, to help the GB riders to chase down the breakaway than any failure by Cavendish or the rest of the team. A break got away and stayed away, that's cycling, it happens. When he is put in a position to win he generally does, Cav is no bottler!
  5. And had as much experience as the likes of Eriksson and McClaren.
  6. Good news for Daws but doesn't sound like good news for James Vince and his development.
  7. Agreed... to an extent. However if he is genuinely looking for a move away I wouldn't be surprised, given the timing, if it was partly about furthering his England prospects.
  8. Changes by Tupac I think.
  9. David Hirst and Carlton Palmer
  10. Really! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/top_scorers/default.stm
  11. How about this one: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaFENXb85qs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWSzsZoqc6Q&feature=related
  12. This!
  13. Or hadn't read the rest of the thread.
  14. Assuming you have a sky subscription (which from your post I'm guessing you do!) then you can watch it via the sky website at http://go.sky.com/vod/page/default/home.do
  15. Don't see it as a problem myself. Fratton Park is pretty to reach down the Eastern Road and they'll have a police escort in and out. The bigger problem to me is where you park up and unload 50 coaches near the Milton End of the ground?
  16. Looking at that video I'm not sure Hooiveld was ever in a position to get something on the ball, it was dropping over his shoulder and he was always struggling to get to the ball first. He would have been in a position to hold Millar up and force him wide though had Kelvin not decided to come charging out of his goal when there were two covering defenders!
  17. Why not play De ridder wide and Guly up top as we did to good effect last year?
  18. Lets hope so! Aidy Boothroyd reckons Cardiff are working really hard to contain our passing game and that they might tire in the last quarter.
  19. Thanks Duncan, Less factual question this time. How different do you think our history would have been had we been elected to the football league (presumably division 2) with the team we had at that time? By the time we entered the football league (division 3) 15 years later we presumably had a much weaker side and it eventually took 62 years from our last southern league title win to reach the top flight . Do you think we would have reached the top flight earlier and possibly won more silverware if we had been elected in 1904/5?
  20. Duncan, As we are on the subject of our time in the Southern League. Do you know why we were not elected to the Football League after our successes around the turn of the century (winning the southern league 6 times in 8 years and reaching 2 cup finals) given that Spurs and Fulham were both elected from the Southern League around that time? I would have thought that we would have been recognised as one of the best teams in the country at the time and therefore deserving of a place in the football league. Similarly, as the Southern League and the Football League were both professional, and as you have said were considered equal, do you know why our successes are not recognised as 'honours' in the same way that the likes of Sunderland and Sheffield United are recognised as having been league champions at that time.
  21. I suspect the weather meant the walk up wasn't great yesterday either.
  22. Agreed Steve, although to be fair to him on this occasion he needed to score quickly if we have any chance of getting 400 in 110 overs and hence maximum batting points.
  23. Still going 627-9 Am guessing they will declare over lunch so that no overs are lost.
  24. Placebo's cover of Where Is My Mind. Also A Perfect Circle's version of Imagine. Wouldn't say its better but it is v.good
