  1. Maybe better option for QPR then…
  2. Not sure if this is posted elsewhere apologies if so, this bloke any good never heard of him… http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-qpr-keeping-tabs-aik-4649766
  3. I'd have thought he played a major and if not lead role in getting Pochettino and Koeman, for that alone he thoroughly deserves an awful lot of credit!
  4. True and long may it continue. Think RK sees Alderweireld as a definite starter and thought Gardos was maybe brought in to partner him but all the time Fonte plays well he deserves to keep his place. Good to have four decent CB's all vying for a starting spot; if anyone can pick out the best pairing as an ex CB it should be RK…
  5. Don't think it'll be too long before we see Gardos and Alderweireld as the CB partnership…
  6. Granted at time of tender there are often quite a lot of unknowns (i.e. risks normally priced in or excluded by the contractor from their tender price). But with respect the vast majority of the actual specifications are known. For example the specifications for the playing surfaces in this scenario would be known, the concrete strength specifications would be known, and whether Cortese wants a solid or plated-gold Guly statue would be known. Historically architects acted as the client's project manager as well as their designer, this is still the case on smaller projects and could possibly be the case here, but on larger projects the norm is to engage a specific project management firm; unless the client wants to try and cut corners and kill two birds with one stone using the architect as designer and project manager. Judging by Cortese's $30m summer transfer spend and swiss banking background IMO he doesn't strike me as someone who looks to cut corners just to save a few quid. I'd be surprised if he didn't have a PM firm looking after the club's interests. As someone else mentioned be interesting to find out what the real reasons are. I don't buy the unknown specification reason, primarily because there are numerous different specifications required for a construction project, and say even if one or two of those are unknown for some reason, the contractor should still be able to proceed with other areas of the project that are not affected by the "unknown specification". Could be wrong though without knowing the facts. anyone know what stage of the works the project is at? just started/half way/nearly finished?
  7. In large scale construction projects the architect is involved and required through to project completion. The bulk of the architect's work is done in drawing up the initial DA and subsequent construction drawing plans yes, but the design can and does change for a number of different reasons throughout a project and the architect is required to design these changes as and when they happen.
  8. Suspending a principal contractor is normally a costly measure and as such used as an almost last resort. Once suspended more often than not termination follows but not always. The club should have a project management consultancy practice advising them and managing the contract. Assuming this is the case I would have thought they would have made or at least be on board with the decision, assuming the decision was made by the club and not the contractor themselves which without knowing the facts could also be the case. If the termination worse case scenario follows and a new contractor needs to be sourced this would delay completion by anywhere up to 6 months plus and at considerably increased costs. a point of note being who is the common denominator in all these disputes with contractors and newspapers etc? Cortese may well be in the right though and just not taking any carp, without knowing the background reasons we can only speculate. On balance though he seems to have done remarkably well since coming on board so without knowing the facts, it's probably unfair to lay the blame at his door as no doubt some people will automatically default to.
  9. Isn't he nearly always injured or have I just fabricated that?
  10. Can't be arsed trawling through a 90-odd page thread or whatever it is now.
  11. Certainly very well researched. Who is he anyway anyone heard of him?

  13. What he said
  14. Useless ****! He can't keep costing us, **** him off. If we make it up he'll be an absolute liability in the prem!
  15. That should have said; ... "than" leaving him in and hasn't "convinced" me either sorry
  16. Fonte has been poor this season in comparison to last, and IF we go up, would get roasted week in week out in the Prem! No where near good enough. That said dropping him now with 3 games to go could prove even more detrimental that leaving him in. If it wasn't the final run-in I would definitely drop him for Martin, although Martin hasn't confidence me either - he's made quite a few mistakes too especially giving away possession with some poor passing. Whatever happens, we need 1-2 more CB's next season of Jos' ilk, or even better if we make the Prem...
  17. Excellent signing if it's true, for $2m considering what we were looking to shell out for Hooper. Just need a decent CB now to partner and/or cover Jos and Fonte and we should be all set for an auto promotion spot, which I'd more than happily take now considering our recent wobble/lose of form...
  18. We looked decidely shaky at the back against leicester, and if this is how we fare against decent fast breaking opposition we most certainly need another quality CB, martin looked above his station, fonte whilst good last season hasn't been anywhere near as solid this, seabourne still out, jaidi ready for his pension, jos out now; if we dont get decent cover this window it could well cost us an automatic promotion spot...
  19. Unfortunatley, the more I see of him this is also what I think. Showed some initial promise and got a good important goal at Reading, but the more I see the less I like and I think that's what Adkins sees too, hence his limited game time and starts (latest injury aside). Let's hope we're wrong but I wouldn't hold out for him... if he was any real good we should have seen it already and SDR be giving Adkins no other option than to start him. And this hasn't happened unfortunatley.
  20. Couldn't agree more; seems Adkins has been more focussed on strikers and midfielders, and we certainly need another top striker, but not getting in a real solid ball playing CB to partner either Jos/Fonte seems madness. As Ferguson once said the spine of a team is vital and it is. Our spine in defence is brittle! On yesterday's performance it's clear to me that Martin is already above his station. Jaidi is well past his best. Seabourne's out. Jos is the only one who's impressed me this season and now he's out we've left ourselves exposed by not focussing on getting a decent CB in. Very naive of Adkins if this is the case. Just hope he sorts it now and it doesn't ultimatley cost us promotion. Although everyone else will know how deperate for a CB we are now...
