And how would Ralph have gone if JWP free kick taking wasnt as elite as it is now, how would Ralph go if had to play Soares at RB instead of KWP/Tino amd goodness knows how many 9-0 Ralph would concede with Stephens and yoshida as the cb pairing
-
Yep Ange would be my pick my pick, was brilliant in the a-league with both Brisbane (who have hardly won a game in the 12 or so years since he left), Melbourne victory, was good with Socceroos and again they have hardly won since he left
-
I left them out cos like I said Puel was sacked on his second half of the season when he didn’t have these players
-
All the Ralph supporters do is tell us it’s amazing we don’t lose every game given the squad we have. But let’s compare it with what Puel had in the second half of the season that he was sacked for, if you picked a combined team you would probably have as many of not more of Ralph’s team 4-2-3-1 probably the formation based on what we have GK: Forster (Ralph and Claude version comparable RB: tino or KWP beat Soares (Ralph) CB: Salisu beats Yoshida (Ralph) LB Bertrand beats Perraud (Claude) CM JWP (Ralph version) CM Romeu (Ralph version probably) AM S Armstrong (Ralph) AM S Davis (Claude) AM Tadic (Claude) ST Adams or Gabbiadini So pretty comparable teams, 5 Ralph, 4 Claude, 2 draws, Claude probably had some better attacking options but a far weaker defence
-
There are plenty of times that a ball goes through a keeper like that, especially when a player is completely unmarked and can pretty much shoot anywhere, so he needs to be thinking about all shooting options maybe he was kicking his post because he is sick of being left completely exposed, Redmond not tracking back for instance made it a relatively easy shot
-
When you compare Armstrong & Broja and their goal contributions per minute: Armstrong 2/2, Broja 6/0 if Che Adam’s “goal” against Man U was given to him Armstrong would be 2/3. So using that Armstrong is a contribution every 252 minutes, and Broja every 296 minutes, Adam’s would be 176 minutes with 8/3 (Man U included) But looking at that list: Walcott was better when he joined, got worse Armstong started ok, faded away Broja performance dipping a lot Tino stared the season on top of the world, faded quite a bit
-
Why was he busting a gut? becuase he needlessly dove in as Wellbeck played that first pass so that put him out of play
-
Looks an ACL to me
-
Yep he needs a full game despite what everyone says on here he was ok early in the season, and has only had bit parts since in some unsuitable matches. we know what long will do so what will this do for us long term? Absolutely nothing
-
Probably needs to be more of a 3-4-1-2 formation with Sarmstrong behind the 2 strikers but I guess Ely did get the assist
-
Now now these things aren’t comparable as Puel had the advantage of being able to play Forster in goal, Long upfront, Stephens at CB, and Redmond upfront, then he had the luxury of Cedric at RB. on a serious note though, people keep saying how bad our current squad is and it’s a miracle we have any points at all, looking at our 2016/17 squad once VVD was sold, I don’t know how many players in that squad would get into a combined team
-
Because in that match he had a left back at left back so he wasn’t covering for KWP being slightly out of position every time
-
Fraser is clearly a better player than McCarthy, but since one has a contract and the other doesn’t the club don’t have a choice to make at the moment just need to get the new number 1 right in the summer
-
I think one of 2 things have happened either the the club and Jan have already decided to split at the end of the season or Ralph is putting in some deflection now that the season is over
-
Stunned we aren’t giving AArmstrong a start here
-
I would agree apart from the fact that I thought AArmstrong and Djenepo had far more impact in the time they were on, Broja needs a rest and kwp needs to go back to to RB and get perraud back to LB, tino not quite right at the moment either
-
Surely you are having a laugh the only way they can score from that situation is if Salisu lets wood have an uninterrupted run and jump at the ball, and that’s exactly what he did, if Salisu was tighter on wood there is no threat at all.
-
Haven’t seen us play worse than this since the second half away at everton FF probably the only player who deserves his paycheque so far midfield totally overrun so far to easy for their forwards to find space and pick passes for each other without pressure on the ball
-
Yes 2 things have changed he has played a left back at left back Stuart Armstrong is back in but you know, all the Ralphists say when we are playing poorly that 5+ game is being reactive (just like apparently Forsters 7 games isn’t enough to say he is playing well) so 2 games is nowhere near enough to say it’s a good formation!
-
Romeu huge Forster again showing light years ahead of Mccarthy stephens very good when he came on too, won a stack of headers and covered in defence well Given the lack of energy early would take that, but quite a few chances in the second half but could’ve been down more early so draw a fair result
-
KWP looks miles off it, twice been beaten tracking back and Armstrong was waiting for him to get forward earlier and he wasn’t coming which stopped our attack
-
4222 seems to work so much better when Sarmstrong is in the side but also we look so much better with kwp at right back, a left back at left back and FF in goal so whilst you can be full of praise for recent stuff (rightfully so) you also need to ask why weren’t some of these relatively simple things done earlier, and that for me is why there is always confusion as too how good he is, there is clearly something great there, but also something that doesn’t quite work at times also
-
Spot on
-
Similar with FF how we played McCarthy above him to start the season is just ridiculous how we have offered McCarthy a contract above him is even worse
-
So in the first 12 games Scored against Everton away on debut scored a cracking winner against villa Provided the assist for our goal against Man U, just the random OG interpretation stops that being official won the penalty at Newcastle won a penalty at man city, VAR randomness stepped in assisted the winner at Watford assisted the goal at Norwich Since then he has been overtaken by Broja which given what he is worth is not unsurprising
