Kelvin Davis, dean hammond, billy sharp etc all say hi Players are quickly replaced if they are deemed not up to it so managers should have the same scrutiny
-
I don't see why changing the manager is off limits if there is someone better to do the job - just like players are replaced by supposedly better players available
-
A few points I think the subs were wrong and did at the time but people who keep saying that Chaplow was right because puncheon wasnt great defensively must not have seen fulhams first goal where riise was in acres of space because Chaplow wasn't defending him. By puncheon coming off if meant riise could play further forward as he knew there was less threat with Chaplow. The reason lambert didn't much in the 2nd half was because we let fulham have nearly 70% possession in the second half and most of that possession was being used by puncheon on the right The biggest tactical error was made at half time when we decided to play like we were 2 nil up with 5 mins to go and let the opposition attack with us getting bodies behind the ball instead of defending all over the pitch like we did in the first half
-
I think the fact that puncheon keeps cutting in or running at clyne when clyne comes forward is contributing to this - punch needs to be attacking the byline to spread the defenders and create more pass options
-
If Davis was in goal would everyone be slating him for not coming off his line to collect the ball which led to the goal?
-
yet if leon best hadnt scored that freaky own goal we probably wouldve been promoted under him
-
Whilst he hasn't been great he would probably be doing a lot better if he wasn't being left exposed one on one against quality strikers so often. The whole defence and midfield are just as much to blame
-
1 thing that stood out to me was when we had the ball in defense and midfield they would pressure us. When they had the ball we would run back and along side of them which let attack with ease
-
where do i find the distance covered stats? this has always intrigued me. in australian rules the elite midfield players cover around 18-20 km in 2 hours. this also includes a lot of energy sapping contact with tackling and bumping etc how does the distance of elite premier league players compare?

If the tweet I quoted was truthful ( big if I guess) then the amount of fee was settled its just some guarantees are wanted by bologna then that suggests cortese is being stubborn and not wanting to give in We also obviously wanted and basically agreed deals with buttner and that fell through Maybe as suggested in another thread the club should give some basic updates about things in the public domain
-
But if I was selling an asset for up to 20m I would want some guarantees The whole gfc could have been avoided if people only sold things to people who could afford them
-
Stop putting your ego first and get the deals for the players we want done
-
I'm not sure what are biggest problem us - the lack of a centre back or our disorganized formation For me Adkins has his preferred formation in his head but doesn't have the players to implement it Either he has been let down in the transfer market by not being able to sign what he wants or he is to stubborn to change his idea Teams should always build their structure and tactics around their players not try to make the players fit a structure A it stands we have wasted 7m to put a good player where he shouldn't be, we have nullified our best goal scorer and reduced the effectiveness of our most creative player
-
I am relatively happy with what we have done but worried by what we haven't done At the start of the transfer window I had cb and rm as the 2 spots that need strengthing most and we are yet to action that The cb is a big concern for me as I think the defence need to play as much as possible together to gain cohesion and the preseason games are running out

So no club event to celebrate the season that is open to all then?

just to give you an idea of what this looks like - images 23 onwards are from the 2010 family day for collingwood http://www.theage.com.au/photogallery/afl/magpie-bliss-20101004-1639i.html?selectedImage=28 -
being in a thoroughly entertaining and very even league where most games mean something to most teams all season long

in the afl both the premiers and the runners up have family days the day after the grand final where all the players get presented to the crowd. these days are always well attended and generate a lotr of goodwill between the fas and the clubs so i think its a fair enough question to ask -
from the tv games i saw last year our biggest problem was how efficient our oppenents were when they went forward with that in mind i would like some more numbers in defence. fox was too often drawn inside the penalty box giving too much space to opponents down the right. to combat this i would play 3 centre backs, jos and a new siging as the srong cb's and fonte as the playmaking cb. this would then keep fox wider and outnumber on opponents forwards. fox would bdo a good job as a wing back i think. lallana could then a free role through the midfield with a couple of good central midfielders in behind him ..................................davis.............................. ...........hooiveld............fonte.......New CB............. richardson.....................................................fox ..................schneiderlin.........cork....................... ..................................lallana............................. ....................lambert..............sharp.................... areas to strenghten are then a 1st choice centre back, a reserve centreback, potentially a right wing back and another central midfielder
-
i am currently watching a replay of this game now and would have to agree, especially as lallana is about to score the leeds away was great and also blackpool at home as i just knew we would equalise and in the end we shouldve got the win and its 2-0 now
-
will be interesting to see the reactions here but we have won 4 of our last 15 games which is no where near good enough. he inherited a good squad far above the level we were playing at then carried that momentum into the new season. since we that momentum has stopped we have been completely rubbish. 15 games is far to long to be considered a temporary and he needs to do something to turn this around or he would surely be in trouble soon
-
beating arsenal 3-2 in 2002/3 - the best moment would have to be the triple save by niemi from viera in the 2nd half ormerod vs scmeichel 2-0 beattie vs fulham 4-2 1-0 vs man u in 2003/4 4-3 vs norwich in 2004/5 3-2 vs blackburn 2004/5
-
good thrad i would love to see a list of every player we had for every season just to see if i can remember all the names what are delgado and chela up to now? stephen crainey?
-
or you could always put the aap logo along the slash like my sanfl team does http://www.safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28373

unfortunately i cant find a photo of it on the web but a collingwood shirt i have from the afl (which is black & white vertical stripes) has a sponsors logo of emirates as part of the fabric so it can be done quite easily, is more integrated than the juventus one linked too

The Cortese Tax - OFT probe into firms 'profiting from plastic'

so just a comparison if everytime yo went to the supermarket you got charged a trolly fee, an item scanning fee etc would you be happy? the supermarket get their revenue from selling you products and tehir overheads are part of their pricing structure, the club earns money from selling tickets so their overheads should also be included in the ticket price
