Yeah, it was a ridiculous comment to make. Also, the only reason they had a fighting chance of staying up on the last day of the season was because of Palace's 10 point deduction. If it wasn't for that they would've been relegated long before! They're also overlooking the fact that our manager not only has experience of this league, but he has also been promoted from it.

It looks like Burnley and Hull are doomed anyway!

I was very impressed with his performance against us at St. Mary's. It was his cross that put us in trouble and led to Brentford scoring. He ran down the left wing, got to the byline and caused us lots of problems.

I'm coming over on Saturday. Flying via Riga. I'll say hello to Pahars if I seem him there!
-
Yep, Boa Morte is still at West Ham. I think Moss had to retire due to injury.
-
Livingston signed him as an amateur. They could sign people outside of the window as long as the player is an amateur (and unpaid). He helped Livingston avoid relegation and then let slip that he was actually being paid by Livingston. Livingston then got fined much to the annoyance of Dundee United (or Dundee) who got relegated in their place, as they would've preferred Livingston's punishment to have been relegation.

One of Hoddle's signings. I don't think he played a first team game for us.
-
Well, he was certainly at the club then, but didn't play for the first team until after we had moved. The same applies to Chris Baird.

I thought I was pedantic!

How on earth could I forget Bridge! He's not been in the press much recently. Ormerod joined after we moved to St. Mary's. Steve Basham is playing, but is at Luton, I think.

I was just wondering how many players who played for Saints at The Dell are still playing in professional football in England. I'll start the list off. Garry Monk Kevin Davies James Beattie Matt Oakley Any more?
-
Congratulations. Well deserved.

I've got that shirt. I believe they're bringing out a new one soon. I'll check when I'm next in Riga. I should be there in a couple of weeks on the way to London.

Will you go when we reach the promised land...
eesti matty replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
I know what you mean. I have mixed feelings as whilst I want Saints to get promoted, the football and the whole match day experience are more enjoyable (at least for me) at this level and I think the Premiership has changed a lot since we were in it..... and definitely not for the better. -
Why am I not surprised? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/8556423.stm Darcy Blake is so hungry to prove he has a future at Cardiff City - the youngster has cut out fast food. Bluebirds boss Dave Jones warned Blake not to follow former England star Matt Le Tissier's example of burger binging. Jones worked with Southampton cult hero Le Tissier during his three years at The Dell and his battle to beat the bulge. "I worked with Matthew Le Tissier and we did everything for him," said Jones. "But when he went away he liked McDonalds, he couldn't keep out of there. "Football is not just about what you do on the field as if you're not doing it right off-the-field, it won't happen on it and will catch up with you eventually. Darcy must make sure he trains properly and work. "We can monitor the players at the training ground as much as we want; we give them all the right foods, right supplements and right drinks but it's what they do when they go away from the place.

You really do make me cringe. Your pathetic attempts at trying to annoy people and make ridiculous comments make me feel sorry for you. Your life must feel so empty. Whatever turns you on.

Back again, but cuts out every now and then.

Is it just me or has the Saints commentary stopped working? I'll have to listen to the Tranmere one if it doesn't start working soon. I've had this problem a few times and despite the apologies the other day, the service seems to be far from reliable. Rant over

I think it was Michael Stensgaard. I remember we lost 7-1 to Liverpool and people were chanting 'we want Stensgaard' after Paul Jones has a nightmare. There was then a two week gap until the next fixture and Jones kept his place and we beat Leeds 3-0. If Stensgaard couldn't get in after a 7-1 defeat (where Jones had a nightmare), then he was never going to get in.

Kevin Davies when he first left. James Beattie.
-
I thought he was on a 3 year contract? I also thought that next season was going to be the time when he's going to be properly judged. Whilst we've spent a lot of money, I think we're making real progress this season. Certainly a lot more than I was expecting at the start of the season.

He hasn't scored for three games. I do think he needs a rest, but the fact that we're noticing when he doesn't score for two or three games shows what kind of season he is having. Even when he is not scoring, he leads the line well and weighs in with his fair share of assists. Having said that, he has looked a bit jaded recently. He'll be fired up for this weekend to score against Stockport.
